Well I’d wager the 1st 4 games of the season Ben Sko has twice as many catches than Cutch!

You in for some Rod dollars? I’ll give you 2–1 odds as well.

I’d even say the same thing with Tutu Atwell vs. Cutch, but Atwell has had such a good camp I’d almost be willing to say Atwell might have more catches than Ben Sko.

IMO opinion though Tutu will have more TD’s than Ben Sko. I’d say anything DJ1 did last season with The Rams. Game for game Atwell does better.
Ben Sko working with Greg Olsen though only makes me think he will have more catches. He is really trying to make catching the ball second nature for Ben.He has all the talent.
Several things.

First, I don’t like to bet on sporting event matters. Not even ROD dollars.

Second, I want to make it clear that I remain a Skow admirer, just not to the degree that you apparently are. I predict that Skow makes the crowded 53 as the 6th WR. Maybe the 5th if Atwell flames out.

Third, speaking of Atwell, we fans have yet to see him in a preseason game so that we can fairly judge him when the real NFL type bullets are flying. He might amaze but he also might struggle. We just don’t know.

So, why don’t we wait until we see some on field evidence of the relative value of Atwell, Skow, and McCutcheon?

So far we have seen an impressive start by McCutcheon while catching passes from a mediocre passing QB. Honestly, I don’t know what more he could do vs Chargers to make a good rookie impression given the circumstances. I can only imagine what he could do with Stafford passing to him. And McCutcheon sure looks like a Stafford type WR, don’t you think?

It's not surprising he may have had some early growing pains, but all reports suggest as the game unfolded he was looking fine, ... enough to gain praise from McVay. I'm looking forward to his continued development in pre-season games 2 and 3. If one game suggests anything, OL depth is looking pretty good. jmo.

Yeah, his future as a possible starter this season will be all about him cleaning up some technique issues over the next couple weeks. Will be interesting to see if he can do it or if his developmental timeline might take at least a year.

I think McVay is making a mistake if he doesn't give Wolford and Atwell snaps in pre-season.

While we may have expected to see these guys in the pre-season games, if McVay has these two making the 53 and worries over an injury risk, I have to support his decision. We'll likely hear about them playing in Tuesday's inter-squad game though. jmo.

It's a shame my internet is down so I missed the game. Saw some highlights and read all the interesting observations from the RODSTERS.

It's only one preseason game but there are only three this year.

Disappointed to read about Burgess. Was very high on him when drafted. Good speed IIRC 4.5 or so. Versatile saftey that could cover. Seemed to play closer to LOS in college with good reation skills. Good thing the Rams keep drsfting DBs.

The new Clutch got lots of remarks for making plays. I saw the replays. Good size, hands and strength. I'll keep in mind the DBs where 2s and 3s but, he got the Rams staff attention which is good for him.

Thanks for all the game info and opinions.

Im not worried about Bruss after one game with a couple poor plays.

Perkins is amazing how he can shake off hits. I would seriouly consider having him become a slash type player. Keep him as 3rd QB and have him learn to run routes and jet sweeps etc...

I notice Dicker the kicker has 3 punts for 52 plus yards and one inside the 20. How did he look with direction, height and placement?

Amazing what some expect to see from mostly 3'rd stringers, many of whom are rookies, in their very first NFL game of the pre-season.
I was gonna say the same thing. Wasn't really watching that game intently, but the fact the author completely misses reality in being disappointed in the rooks.

Kendrick playing outside the hash as a guy who was knocked on his speed is big fucking news. And he looked good.

Durant played poorly on one snap that I saw. Didn't notice him outside that, which is a good thing. Plus both those guys started the damn game.

Seriously man. Clueless fucks in today's "media."

He's done with us. I just don't think he'll make the cut as he hasn't shown much. Too bad.
He hasn’t been the same since that ankle injury. Definitely a huge drop off in his intensity on the field. It was a pretty nasty injury and he plays like he never recovered from it mentally.

I've been wondering this about TB myself. He just hasn't ever looked the same after that ankle injury. I don't know if it's in his head or if he's got personal problems at home but he has got to step it up or he'll be released.
Really Coach Mac and Raheem can't continue to wait for him to play like he used to.
We've got a championship to defend and every team in the league is going to be gunning for us.
Burgess needs to know that his opportunity is here and the time is now.

Jack Snyder did very well behind center Jeremiah Kolone.

AJ Arcuri has good feet & does much better @ OT than OG.

It's obvious to me that Coach Carberry desires to provide Jeremiah Kolone with as many center snaps as possible. Kolone (American Samoan) is a full-size man now @ 27 yrs old 6-2-315/320 pounder who was an OG/NT in HS & an LG @ San Jose State University. He went undrafted in 2018. His body type very similar to Jeff Cankles Zgonina.

I believe Coleman Shelton is Carberry's starting RG. So now getting your reserve back up center ready is paramount from this point on. It's pretty obvious to me that the lead candidate for that position now is Kolone.

From the few snaps Snyder got @ OC, I would still not discount him from making this MR53 if he also balls out when given the opportunity to get snaps @ both OG posts. Snyder who is 6-5/315 looks & plays strongly to me. The next two games watching #64 will be good :pop:stuff. I just do not see McVay going with 3 rookie Ol'ers on the MR53. Jackson {LT/RT/RG/LG}, Anchrum{LG/RT/LT/RG}, Bruss RG & Kolone OC/LG will make NINE !

2 preseason gms to go but if I were to bet I would go with rookies OT Arcuri & OG/OC Snyder being cut & both if still available signed to the 2022 Rams PS along with special PS rider OT Pircher. To crack the Rams' Big 9 Ol'ers as it is most likely now, will take one unbelievable effort.

You sound confident, I’ve just seen the 3 rookies looking impressive without pads Actually the one on ones was cool to see against the defense.
I guess I’ll a pause on the roster spots.

I know what I’ve seen thus far. Been to a few training camps & I’d say I’m a fairly good judge of talent.
Have still seen less of Cutch,so I’m not getting excited about him as much of a WR right now. He has not shown much in his routes.Special teams he looks like a man amongst boys ?I’ll have more of a opinion later this week.

Just rewatched. Arcuri had a very forgettable game as well. Wish I could say Hummel or Isom really stood out. That's why there's next week. Celebrate today, improve over the week, and take the next step up against Houston.

With Bobby Brown out, we may indeed suffer from some run blocking skills against Houston as their rookie RB ran well against New Orleans. jmo.

This is my concern as well. Atwell needs the work. And if Perkins doesn't have the arm to use Atwell's speed, then pair him with Wolford and let's see what we have.

IF he really is a mini-DJ, then the league will figure it out soon enough. No reason to play coy, when the guy just needs reps.

And, I just don't get the Wolford "Sacred Cow" status. WTF???

Did I miss an Injury update on Bobby Brown

Rams waiting for MRI results on Bobby Brown III's ankle after X-rays were clean

1660574159346.png

Rams nose tackle Bobby Brown III left the preseason opener in the second half with what appeared to be a serious ankle injury. He was helped off the field by trainers and was unable to put any weight on his right leg.

Sean McVay provided an update on Brown’s status and he sounds hopeful that the second-year defensive lineman avoided a long-term injury. Brown’s X-rays were clean but the team is waiting on the MRI results to get further clarity on the severity.

“We’re waiting on his MRI,” McVay said. “The X-rays did come back good. There was nothing on the X-rays, but sometimes with those ankles – it was his ankle that did get rolled up on – and I know from previous experience myself when I played that sometimes even if you don’t have an actual fracture, depending on the significance of what you do with a sprain and how it shows up with the ligaments and tendons can almost be just as bad. But we’re hoping for the best.”

Brown flashed a few times in the win, recording two tackles and one sack against the Chargers. He played 30 snaps, or 47%, before exiting the game with the ankle injury.

Predicting Rams' first 5 cuts ahead of Tuesday's deadline

1660574849377.png

The Rams have checked the first box of the preseason, taking down the Chargers in the first exhibition game of the summer. Now they have some decisions to make.

The first cut deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, meaning the Rams must trim their roster from 90 to 85 players soon. Even though these are just the initial cuts, there are still some calls to make.

Here’s who we predict the Rams to release ahead of the first cut deadline of the summer.

1

TE Jared Pinkney

Pinkney didn’t get a single snap in the preseason opener, a game in which four other tight ends played. It’s not because Pinkney has locked up a roster spot, either. It’s likely that the Rams wanted to see more of the other four players, knowing Pinkney may not have much of a chance to make the team. It’s also a position with six players currently on the roster, so they have plenty of bodies to get through the preseason without risking Tyler Higbee.

2

WR Warren Jackson

Jackson also did not play in the win over the Chargers, likely because he was activated off the PUP list a week before the game. The Rams won’t be playing their top six receivers in the preseason, leaving six other players to handle the workload in the final two weeks.
Lance McCutcheon, Landen Akers and J.J. Koski got most of the snaps, with Austin Trammell being the only other receiver to play Saturday. McCutcheon is clearly ahead of Jackson and Trammell showed some potential in the win, so Jackson might be the odd man out.

3

OL Adrian Ealy

Ealy only played four offensive snaps on Saturday, the fewest of any lineman who suited up. He’s likely the fourth-string tackle, so it’s really hard to see him making the team. And the fact that the Rams didn’t need to use him much in the first preseason game means they can get by without him in the next two weeks, too.
They’ll lean on Bobby Evans and A.J. Arcuri at right tackle until the regular season begins.

4

OLB Brayden Thomas

Thomas played 31 snaps, the same number as Keir Thomas. Those two seem to be neck and neck at outside linebacker, but the Rams may have to pick between them at this stage of the cut process. Keir Thomas is a little bit undersized and is listed as the last outside linebacker on the depth chart, but he flashed more than Brayden in the preseason opener.
Brayden Thomas batted one pass and had two assisted tackles, whereas Keir had a tackle for a loss and two QB hits.

5

CB Duron Lowe

Cornerback is one of the most crowded positions on the roster, and Lowe is at the bottom of the pecking order. He only played 16 defensive snaps against the Chargers and seems unlikely to make the team. Grant Haley, Tyler Hall and the pair of rookies (Decobie Durant and Derion Kendrick) all appear to be ahead of him right now.
This decision could come down to Lowe and Caesar Dancy-Williams.

I would cut Ceasar Dancy-Williams

I have never seen an air tackle as bad as Dancy-Williams made.

He just dived in the air and missed the receiver by over 3 yards.

It was absolutely horrible.

And he didn't make any other plays that I could see during the game - cut him
