It’s hard to know what to make of his performance, he didn’t really separate and some of the throws weren’t the best but he came down with it which is all you can ask for. I don’t suppose we’ll be seeing Stafford or Wolford in these games, it would be interesting to see how he does with better qb’ing.
I don’t want to be late to the party with McCutcheon, but I thought the same.

Good strong hands, but I want to see more “open” from his routes in game 2.

He may have been more open if the throws weren't short and late. He also had a nice dig route and got 5 yards of separation. Ball was, you guessed it, short.

Heck while you're at it, he was grabbed quite a bit too.

I know a lot of people have been saying Burgess is toast and I agree, just can't see any way they bring him back on the roster with how many guys they're going to have to keep elsewhere.

Rams are gonna have to pick from this list (Perkins, Burgess, Evans, Lake, Funk, McCutcheon) as guys they'll cut.

Lake could be IR'd and I hope he is at this point. Evans is toast. Let's say Burgess is cut. I have to imagine with Yeast showing so far.

You still prob have to choose from Perkins, Funk and McCutcheon as cuts unless you go light at OLB, ILB and Dline (even including that Brown won't count against roster) and I have a hard time seeing them do that. And each one of those guys will not make the practice squad before someone poaches them.

I include Funk on here cause it might be a luxury for the Rams to keep 4 RB this year. Funk absolutely has value as a special teamer but if Rams go with Perkins and McCutcheon I could see him get the axe... it sounds like the Rams really like Kyren a lot!

If McCutcheon can provide something on ST... I think there's an outside chance Funk gets cut.

McCutcheon looks like the real deal. I know it's still early, but Damn what a start.
Jourdan Rodrigue has been talking this kid up since beginning of OTA'S

Seeing Troy Reeder in a chargers uniform brought me great joy. Rarely have I disliked
a Ram more than this guy.
If I'm being fair though it's not his fault , we should have never put a 3rd/4th
string ILB/ST guy in that position. 9er fans are mourning the loss.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a bigger upgrade at a position than from Troy Reeder to Bobby Wagner. The Seattle Seahawks were under matched in both contests last year against the 49ers and I believe they beat them twice and Bobby Wagner was the single biggest reason. They just can’t run all their inside stuff against someone of Bobby Wagner‘s skill. We are a significantly better team against the 49ers with Bobby Wagner than Von Miller. I don’t think that’s even an argument.

That backup rb position seems like it’s up for grabs as Hendo has never lived up to his potential so is Kyren really going to be returning kicks? I don’t know. Seems like all the rbs got hurt last year.
Funk likely has the edge over Williams behind Akers and Henderson.
While on the field Henderson has out
Performed Akers but they are very close statistically.
Hendo slashes and Akers plows but does have some ability to move laterally and get outside.
I would love to see Akers really develop this season and Hendo stay healthy.

McCutcheon's problem is that Skowronek and Powell are monsters on special teams. Don't see him unseating either of those guys. I think McCutcheon is headed to the practice squad.
I might want to also say Skowronek's and Powell's problem is they have never had a preseason game of the likes McCutcheon had being the #1 receiver in a McVay offense. Both Skowronek and Powell need to get on the field & see what they can do with this offense.

If McVay lets McCutcheon remains on the field for the next two preseason games he is going to draw some serious heavy coverage.

All I have to say about McCutcheon is this.. we've had great WR play pretty much since McVay got here but our guys have mostly just been winning with excellent route running and knowing how to manipulate defenses.

That being said when was the last time we've had a WR just completely Moss his opponent and come down with a ball like the defender draped all over him wasn't even there? Let alone twice in one game even if it is preseason.

Van, Harris, and Sko have the potential to make that kind of play, the difference is this kid actually did it. I don't see how he doesn't make the 53 if he keeps it up and maybe even playing time at some point down the road. Probably a developmental prospect for right now though, soaking everything up from Kupp and ARob.

I am rooting for Funk, but as a RB… what stands out? So far, he doesn’t excite me much as a RB.

I think his roster spot is in contention.

Now that the knives are out in regards to camp cuts, I won't be surprised to see a waiver pick-up or possibly even a trade for a RB.

Yeaahhh, you'd like to see him "create" a little more at RB than he does.

But if Cam and Henderson take their soft tissue injuries into the season it probably forces their hand at keeping 4 RBs. Rams have only kept 3 in the past and Jourdan has said how much they like Kyren. I just think there's an outside chance with numbers being tight at other spots, we could see a Funk cut before the 53. They may think they can stash him in a way that they won't be able to with a McCutcheon. Of course, someone will have to show that they can make up for the loss in ST.

Also, apropos of nothing you said, I saw that some people think Harris is a possible cut. Dude has all the physical gifts in the world (I know you can't just depend on that) but he also plays in ALL 4 ST phases. That's a pretty big ST cut if you get rid of him.

There are so many RBs around and available. Waived guys, UDFAs, vets, etc. Good players too. RBs just are not valued. They also wear out so quickly.

Is Funk so good and valued that he’d get taken from the PS? Unlikely but possible. If that does happen, big deal. There are RBs all over the place available for pickup to come in for backup work and/or some real action for a couple weeks. There are probably a few guys right now unsigned or simply unknown who will pop during the season for a few games or longer. RB is the least of my concerns.

No doubt, and the glut of RBs could be a reason Rams may cut Funk at the end but he is a valuable ST player. We need to be able to replace his snaps there. Let's not forget, ST was a sh*tshow for most of the year and they finally righted the ship. Not sure we win the superbowl if they didn't.

Kyren won't play much if at all in preseason so it will be interesting to hear if he's able to make some noise on ST in practices going forward in TC.

I think we can find RB depth after teams make there cuts.
I wouldn't trade for 1 just yet.

Since I just put that in writing, expect a trade by the end of the week.

Maybe we can find at least one RB that can stay healthy

1 week and each team needs to cut 5 more players, 2 weeks from today and they cut from 80 down to 53, I've got to believe we'll find someone McSnead will like. jmo.

Just wondering what type of RB do you think The Rams(you) want ? IMO
The Rams have no intention to pick up a RB. Will never say never, because Les Snead is always active trying to make the roster better.

Sean Mcvay is not looking. He is just calling this group out from The Top 2 The Bottom. There is a competition & IMO HENDO if he can get himself healthy he WINS the RB job.

It’s called MOTAVATION & calling them out because there are jobs open
& it even opens the door for Williams.

There was this young black kid in a VIP tent. He knew each Ram player well. He likes Williams the Best & said he was going to be The Rams starting RB. I questioned him & asked him about Jake Funk making the team. He replied & thought about it. He said I Jake he is cool. He’ll make the team.
Williams from what I hear is practicing with the team. Is he getting first Reps?

?
Not a chance
Funk doesnt make the team unless there's an injury to the 1st 3
I'd like another look at that Rose kid, he ran pretty hard.
