SOMETHING is off.

Have teams figured out a tendency?

Is he injured and no one's saying anything?

Is he concussed enough that he's not processing, but can still pass the protocols?

Is he all fucked out come game time? (he does have a got gf)

I dunno what the fuck it is, but Goff needs to get the Eye of the Tiger back. I don't care if he's a silent assassin, but he sure as fuck can't be Potsy fucking Webber...
The Answer to most these questions is yes. If the Opposing D is up to task Mc V has no counter.

As far as Goffs eye of the tiger it is more of a peek at a kitten.

They would have had the time regardless.
That is Gray Area though. If you watch the actual game within 2 mins we may have deterred them from even getting into FG range, it would of went into OT. Watch the plays watch the clock and watch when we actually called the TO's. Watch closely.

49ers have our measure and deserved their win - but we shot ourselves in the foot so many times. Very frustrating performance.

Our first half was deplorable and we couldn't stop Samuel.

Inspirational third quarter by Aaron Donald - got us back in the contest.
Just to hand it right back....it’s what we do.....

Coming into this game goff was in the bottom 3rd of getting sacked. We also had the 9th best rushing team in the nfl coming in.

Was the offensive line better in 2018? maybe huge difference? nah.... I bet goff got sacked more in 2018 than this year in fact.
Not getting sacked doesn't exactly correlate with having enough time to run the play. it just means that the qb held onto the ball too long in many cases.
Are you seriously trying to tell me that our oline is in the top 3 of the NFL? No way in hell.

Our oline was very good that year.
That's the huge difference between 2018 offense and 2019-2020 offense.

looked it up in 2018 Goff was Sacked 33 times. This year he has been sacked 13 times coming into this game. In 2018 our rushing rank was 8th.. this year its 9th. So if we are looking at date that doesnt support the conclusion that our offensive line was way better then.

Perfectly said..and we can't be afraid to go back to that and be held over a barrel by the past. It was a different regime then. I have confidence in this regime and this is the exact reason I am willing to even go another season with Goff but I would not let an opportunity like a Sam Darnold or Daniel Jones should he become available go by the way side. And not for nothing I actually think with a lot of these weapons I'd be ok with a Carr type qb. Let's not forget either I know Goff won at the saints and he doesn't get nearly enough credit for that ...it's all about "the call" but this whole season is without fans how much more rattled or worse would this season be if there were fans etc. I'm posting this on the vent thread as well. I don't hate Goff but in order for us not to go back we need a plan B. It's just a fact. I don't care if he piles the crap out of stats the rest of the season. The rams can't have this and AD deserves more. Not off the wagon but I'm definitely lost!!!

I'm not saying that our oline is better or as good this year or anything - but saying the line is bad and that is why he is playing bad. Honestly I haven't heard hardlny anyone saying that this year and there isn't much data to support that conclusion.

2 of his 3 turnovers today had nothing to do with protection.

For some reason this game didn't piss me off half as much as the first Niner game and the Dolphins loss. I had a calm sense/feeling come over me assuring me that this team is decent but not a real contender. I learned that after the Miami game and this game just proved it. We need a new QB plain and simple if we want to win it all. We have a good defense. We need to find a leader. I wish we would have bombed last season and drafted Herbert. Man i wish. I would have traded anything for Herbert
Nope

Now your comparing a healthy Gurley to the 3 rbs we have now?

Look. You have your mind made up, which is fine. I just don't agree.

There was a 1:20 left adn they were at our 48 yardline when we called the first time out. ... The 2nd timeout we called they were at OUR 39 yard line and had all 3 timeouts left with 40 secs left.

They had complete control of the clock - it didn't matter if we couldn't stop them. If we stopped them we have had time for ourselves. if we didn't stop them they still had all their timeouts left.

It has zero bearing on the outcome...

Let's say we didn't call timeout - what would they have done? Whether they used a timeout or let the clock run, either scenario would have led to them running less plays. Probably two less.

They went from our 37 to our 29 in their last two plays - a FG they probably miss to a chip shot for Gould

I personally don't think time was going to be a factor although no way to know for sure. I still think it was dreadful use of the time outs. Play them and save max time or don't play them and see what happens McV is losing his edge.

Given that Howell will likely go in the first round (we're obviously not getting the top quarterbacks in this draft) in 2022, we won't have to bench Goff; he'll likely be traded in 2022. Howell is my guy for the reasons I stated in the Notre Dame thread. He outplayed Trevor Lawrence in 2019; it was his defense and coach that screwed up what could've been a victory. He threw 38 touchdowns to seven interceptions. He's not a huge quarterback, but 6'1" isn't too bad, and he's more mobile than Goff.

A glacier is more mobile than Goff, as for Howell's college stats......you gotta prove it in the NFL

Reasons why today sucked:

1) our excellent D couldn't tackle, especially in the first half. First guy going high or for the strip? When the fuck did we forget basic HS football?

2) Our D respected the pass too much in the first half. That made NO sense.

3) Ramsey wasn't on Deebo Samuel? WHY??????

4) McVay relying on making short 3rd downs as our only offensive strategy is dumb. It's eating your checkers level dumb.

5) Does Goff have a bet with someone that he can go an entire season without throwing a single ball away?

6) Does our OL simply forget how to push other guys around for long periods of time? Cuz they sure fail to when it's needed.
Goff took a sack late in the game and I thought...he’s learning!

I've watched Howell for some time. He's going to be elite, and I would trade anything for the chance to select him. Let Snead work his devil trading magic.

It was actually 3rd. From the eye test, the way those guys could move the pocket and blow people off the line in the ground game; I'd say our 2018 line was better.

Problem is it's not 2018. Goff has to play behind the line that's here and now. And his issues with ball security and decision making started in 2018 behind that line anyway. He had eleven turnovers in the last five games of that year.
