How many different players have been mention? Maybe 20 or so. Foles as QB has to be on top of any list as RAFRam started off with. After Foles it's dealer's choice. I thing everyone has to step up. I think it's time for the Rams to become a team with different players making plays when needed. If I'm playing the game of three...Foles....Tree who should be in position to make plays because of the defensive line and Havenstein to be able to be an improvement of Barkesdale.

Let me start by saying, I think the entire O-Line needs to take it up a notch!!
That being said:
#1- Chris Long; I think he'll step it up, to prove he's back and He and Quinn will Destroy QB's this year, Both will have high double digit sacks this year!
#2- Alex Barron; If he steps it up, He and TJ will terrorize WR's Trying to come across the middle, it will be 'No Man's Land'!

#3- Tru Johnson; He has to step it up to show people they can't go deep on the Rams!
If these 3 things come true, the Rams will go 12-4 at least this year, and SB bound!!

1) Nick Foles- he's an obvious choice. We need someone to punish the 8 in the box looks and deliver the ball on time and accurately. If we can keep him clean like they did in Philly, he can be devastating. The key is protection.

2) Barrett Jones- he was a standout Lineman on a standout OL and has been 2 years preparing for this moment. With what this OL is trying to be, we need a pro bowl caliber center to hold up against the bigger DTs and NT types and Jones actually played better against the bigger guys in the SEC. Jones can do what needs to be done and now is his time.

3) Chris Long- he has to return to form for this DL to function properly or teams will run right or bootleg/escape valve right and diminish the rush of Quinn and Donald.

Loving all your picks guys, and I think everyone is right, everyone needs to step up a bit, but mine are as below:

1. Tavon. He flashes perfect brilliance now and then for us, I want him to prove the doubters wrong and be the threat that we all know he can be.

2. Chris Long. We need our general on the playing field at all times. His injury hurt our defence substantially last year. Stay fit Long, our d-line needs you :)

3. Barrett Jones. Step up and be the centre you can be BJ. I've held the faith from mock-drafting you. You've got the tools, you've got the smarts, prove the doubters wrong ;)

Do I need to pick just 3? This is a team that's mostly young and ascending, so it stands to reason that they'll just keep getting better. I'm going to reword the question to - "who do I think on the Rams is on the brink of a breakout year, where they go from being just a guy or someone who can be taken out of the game or someone with glaring weaknesses to being someone who is feared by the opposition".

On D, I'm going to cross Aaron Donald, Robert Quinn, Alec Ogletree, TJMcDonald off the list because they've already broken out. Their continued ascension is assumed. Guys like Chris Long, Laurinaitis, Hayes have hit their ceiling, just hope they don't regress (with age). Guys list Rodney McLeod and Sims are already overachieving.

On O, I'm going to cross off Roger Saffold, Nick Foles, Jared Cook off the list for similar reasons. Cory Harkey is already overachieving.

Rookies just don't count unless they have superstar potential (e.g. Gurley).

The list of remaining candidates, folks who have a huge gap between potential and performance, is large:

O: Greg Robinson, Brian Quick, Tre Mason (**), Tavon Austin, Kenny Britt, BJones, Bailey, Lance Kendricks.
D: Baron, Janoris, Joyner, Tru Jo, Gaines, Brockers

That's my list in likelihood order of who I think WILL have the MOST significant breakouts. If I have to pick just 3, I'm going all offense, that the defense is already on the cusp of something great, and the D will be great even if the players mentioned just keep playing as is.

That is, if we see breakout years from Greg Robinson, Brian Quick, Tre Mason (**), that'll give the team a bigger push than anything else.

** - ok, I'm cheating on the Tre Mason pick a bit. In my mind, the Tre Mason pick presumes Gurley, that I'm thinking of them as a tandem act. Their breakout in my mind means that they get to 1600+ rushing yards between them with 4.5 ypc.

Nick Foles- He hasn't played a down for us yet but he needs to step up his game as this will be a pivotal season or him with The Rams and in his professional career in general. I personally think we'll see Fisher's offense protect him more with a running game and more play actions where he'll be able to protect the football more and not have to take chances so much. Needless to say his play mainly effects more than any other position or player on the team. If he just play average, nothing special, he'll already be an upgrade to what we had last year at QB.

Barrett Jones- it's time to shit or get off the pot Barrett. Not much else to say but if he has anything to show now is the time to do it man.

I'm debating who my third guy should be but Janoris Jenkins wins out.
Dude has so much talent and ability but makes a lot of bone headed plays that don't really override the good ones he does. ( 60 secs left against San Fran and lets a long bomb score). Dude needs to get his shit together.

my runner up

Alec Ogletree - The dude always freaks me out with a crap game of the ages or a crazy good game.... I still don't know if some games last year he just stood up late partying and just wasn't ready the next day! lol

For the Rams to make the playoffs (imo)

Nick Foles - If he repeats last season (186-311 (59.8%), 2163 yards, 13 TDs, 10 INTs, 81.4 passer rating) then we can kiss the playoffs and any hope of a winning season goodbye. The good news is that he's shown that he can do it, with his Pro Bowl 2013 season, but the big question is was that a fluke?

Greg Robinson - If we are going to field such a young OL we need one of the guys with actual NFL experience to be an anchor for us, that will require a massive leap for Robinson, but one that I believe (or maybe it's just hope ) he's capable of.

Alec Ogletree - When Ogletree has a positive game (per PFF) the Rams allow 10 points per game, when he scores negatively they allow 24 points per game coincidence? Most likely. However the point remains that he's a vital part of this D who was disappointing at times last season and was slow out of the starting gates, he needs to hit the ground running next year and show his Pro Bowl potential for this D to really shine.

So who are your 3 guys? Do you agree with me? Am I just an idiot who's really board this Sunday afternoon without any Rams football to keep me entertained :(?
How sad is it that foles last year was still Better than what we had? That's what makes me optimistic about him. Anyway....

My three are:
1.chris long- if he can get 10 plus sacks to go with Donald and Quinn, then our defense is probably unstoppable.

2. Janoris Jenkins- no more inconsistency. Are you a shutdown corner or just one of the guys?

3. Frank cingetti- not a player, I know, but if the offense can be aggressive and less predictable, then we can beat anyone (with this defense)

There is only one group that I think will lose us games if they don't play better and that is the secondary. I think everyone else is pretty much ready to roll. Of course, the jury is out on the o-line, but I'm not worried at this point.

Was he? Statistically he was worse than both Hill and Davis. Foles played behind the league's second best OL, Hill and Davis the second worst. I mean he must have, the Rams wouldn't have traded for a player that was worse than one they dropped and one they didn't try to re-sign, but it doesn't show up on paper whatever the reason.

My three are:

1. Nick Foles - He needs to be the quarterback we are hoping for. Not to say that he needs to be Aaron Rodgers, more or less Russel Wilson though.

2. Janoris Jenkins - This guy was labeled as a 1st round talent. He needs to step up and be that lights out CB that nobody wants to throw towards.

3. Barret Jones or Demetrius Rhaney - This one is an either or deal. One of these guys needs to step up and be the Center that this team needs. If this happens our o-line won't look so bad. I don't feel Barnes can be asked to do much more than he already does at center. One of these guys needs to take that job.

I like this thread topic. Here's my list.

1. Brian Quick - Needs to own his status as #1 WR for our team. Needs to get at least 1200 yards receiving and 10 TDs.

2. Greg Robinson - Only his second year, which makes him one of the longest standing veterans on the oline. I truly believe a great performance by him this year takes us to the playoffs.

3. Robert Quinn - Just like Quick, Quinn needs to own his status as #1 guy on the dline. Don't know what caused his slow start last year, but he needs to bring some major production this year.

My top 3 are all OL...

1. GRob. Locking down Foles' blindside is going to be huge for him to have the confidence to play like he did in 2013.

2. Saffold. He needs to stay healthy, and raise the bar to play a full season at the Pro Bowl level he has flashed. Him killing it on the interior is huge for Foles stepping up in the pocket, huge for the running game, and huge for the kids that will be playing to either side of him.

3. Havenstein. Rams can mix and match all they want on the interior but if this guy can lock down RT it will be critical to the success of the team this season. He's extremely important and if he can step up and in along with the above stepping up this line is gonna be set.

Whichever three guys end up starting on the line besides Saffold & GRob.
No one else even comes close, imo.

What was our qb's qbr? I don't think it was higher than foles

Tavon Austin; Needs to increase his production by ten times the amount to avoid being an all time bust.

Barrett Jones; Needs to play or retire. It's been long enough already!

Fisher; Not a player but his legacy is in danger if he can't get this team over the hump ASAP.

I think it comes down to the Ram secondary, which is still quite young...and on offense, of course Foles has to play well...but not great. It's been proven you don't have to have a great QB to make the playoffs or win the SB.

I don't like calling out three players either! You have to have good leadership from the QB position and the MLB position because those positions call for leadership. Of course you need a good coaching staff too. The Rams need to be a GOOD TEAM on both sides of the ball. The team leaders will come to the forefront and there will be accountability and work ethic.

Recall the 99 SB winning Rams....great leadership from Warner and Fletcher as well as Faulk!!! What was most remarkable is they became a TEAM and that made a whole lot of difference because the players bought in to the system...and there was accountability! It was a great draft as well as the trade for Faulk.

Our team has the talent...now they need the discipline! Top teams don't shoot themselves in the foot with penalties and turnovers.

I thought last years team would make the playoffs but the injuries came starting with Sam...it went downhill from there as we know...and still the Rams were not eliminated from playoff contention until week 14...(I think).

I'll look at camp and preseason...that will tell me something about this team.
