Well it's about damn time!!!! The Yankees are terrible in extra innings on the road. Finally, they put a two out rally together and scored 5 to win. Awesome stuff.
George Lombard missed his 4th straight game with knee swelling. He tweaked it on a check swing but they say there's no structural damage. I think he'll be back in the lineup in San Diego on Friday.
Spencer Jones is making the case to be kept on the roster when Judge comes back. In his last 20 games he's hitting .294 with 4 homers, 13 rbi, 5 SB, 15 runs, .882 OPS. Over his last 14 games he's even better. .333 with 4 homers, 10 rbi, 12 runs, 1.050 OPS. But the most impressive thing is he's playing vs LHP and is hitting .368.
These are the two guys who prevented the Yankees from making any drastic moves at the trade deadline. And word is, they were both mentioned in every significant trade proposal the Yankees discussed leading up to the deadline.
I can't wait until Judge is back.....

Schlittler has now allowed 1 run or less in 19 starts this year a new Yankees record, it's a damn shame we haven't scored more runs for him
Dude is serious. Last night he used his fastball almost exclusively. I'd say he threw about 15 off speed pitches. It's so impressive, like here's my fastball, hit it. He froze Trout twice for called third strikes painting black on the outside corner. This kid is our ace and that's saying something with Cole, Fried and Rodon behind him.
He's also only the 2nd Yankee with 200 Ks and an ERA of 2.10 or less heading into September. (Ron Guidry)
If you take his 3 "off" outings away......4.1 IP; 4 ER, 4.0 IP; 6 ER, 3.0 IP; 4 ER.....he has a 1.41 ERA in those other 26 games. Dude is serious.

It's setting up nice, almost all the pitchers are finally healthy, Judge may come back Tuesday and after the Padres series we have 3 straight series against teams below .500. Behind the Yankees dugout and down the first base line was all Yankee fans late in the game last night.
The pitching is what I'm really amped about. Warren, Weathers and Schmidt coming out of the bullpen. Plus the usual suspects and a strong starting 4. If the hitting can complement that, they will be dangerous. I want to see a lot more of Lombard and Jones.
Judge returns tonight. Hmmm. Can we put a nice little run together?

Good to see Judge back finally. He will have time to figure things out. Stanton on the other hand..... Sigh...
Schlittler was awesome again last night. 10 K's for the 4th time and IIRC, they said that leads the A.L. Also his 22nd start (of 30) allowing 1 run or less. IIRC, that's also #1 in the A.L.
We're going to have a good postseason rotation.
