I noticed Volpe had a Stance Change too, So that might have been his hitting issue.Garcia has been incredible, Bellinger is a double machine, he's hit so many balls this year off the wall, need Rice to get hot again& Lombard to get going, Volpe looked so confident at the plate yesterday I hope he succeeds he's been through a lot
Girardi was gushing over Jones when he was announcing one of the Yankees games last week. If he learns to stay off that high strike he'll be really good. He's supposed to be really good in the outfield too but he makes me nervous out there after seeing him trying to field a couple of balls hit off the wall in rightFor once, Cashman didn't trade away top prospects at the deadline for fleeting talent. Reportedly, to get any other top-flight trade target, the cost was either George Lombard or Spencer Jones. He made 2 acquisitions in Luis Garcia, Jr and Heliot Ramos. Garcia is #3 in slugging (.551) behind Alvarez and PCA in MLB. Since being traded to NY, he's hitting .306 with 7 homers, 15 Rbi with a line of .341/.524/.865 OPS.
Instead of trading those 2 prospects, Cashman said, "fuck no" and brought them up from the minors. Spencer Jones is hitting .263 with 9 homers and 23 rbi but that includes an earlier stint of 30 games in May and June where he hit .233. In the last 30 games, he's 33 for 99 (.333) with 19 runs scored, 19 Rbi, and a line of .385/.535/.921 OPS. Lombard has struggled at the plate but has been stellar at shortstop.
Here's the interesting thing with Jones. The Yankees achilles has been against left handed pitching since Judge went down. Jones a 6'7" left handed hitter, has gone 19 for 45 vs LHP with a .480/.689/1.169 slash line. The Yankees got better at the trade deadline and it didn't cost them much at all.
I think he has rookie mentality. Forget that shit. You are the centerfielder >>>>>>> anything you can get to is YOUR ball. As far as playing caroms off the wall, that'll get better the longer he plays.Girardi was gushing over Jones when he was announcing one of the Yankees games last week. His last 4 starts......2-0, 23.2 IP, 4 ER, 1.52 ERA. Kid is kicking ass.Warren with another nice start, Judge crushes one up in the 3rd deck. Hopefully Schmidt & Weathers can get some innings in middle relief these last 2 weeks because I don't want Tim Hill anywhere near the mound in the postseason
He'll be back for the postseason. In the meantime, Spencer Jones is going to make it extremely difficult for the Yankees to keep him off the postseason roster.Judge hurt again, it's non stop
Well hes prob has a few more starts to pull away. Should Def be near a 20 win season, but offense has to ruin nice things. Would have been nice, Our Last 20 win pitcher was CC I think then Mussina before him in his last year!Cam Schlittler for Cy Young?
31 GS, and in 21 of them, he didn't allow more than 1 run.
184.2 IP; 228 K's; 42 BB; 14-6; 1.95 ERA
The funny thing is in 4 of those starts allowing 1 or less runs, the Yankees lost the game because they couldn't score any runs. He should actually be 18-6. His last 10 starts, he's 4-0 with 60.2 IP, 10 ER, 1.48 ERA
Supposedly, it's between he and Dylan Cease.
Cease has held opponents to 1 run or less in 15 starts. He's 11-5 with a 2.38 ERA, 166.1 IP, 236 K, 72 BB.
I'm biased but Schlittler's numbers are better.
At least its 10 day and not that bad hopefully. Need him if we going anywhere this postseason.Judge hurt again, it's non stop
