If he get suspended for 5 games for a dropped charge, is Rice going to be suspended for the entire season for his 5 Felony charges?

Good point about contract and also the amount of good to great WRs in the draft every year has depressed WR's trade values going forward.

Still, I think a 1st for him is worth it for the right team.
If he was already under a manageable contract with some life left in it, maybe. MAYBE.
…but to pony up both a 1rst rounder and $30mil/per? He’s not THAT good.

I can't say I've watched him closely but some pundits I trust say he is and say he's been underutilized in the Shannahan offense.

But hey, not my circus.

Whiners are smoking fucking crack if they think they'll get a good return. The time to optimize the trade value is long gone. They'll be lucky to get a 2nd round pick at this rate.

Agree 100%. The time was before the draft when optimism reigns supreme. Now teams have a more realistic view of their roster’s potential and needs. Giving away a 1rst rounder AND being on the hook for $30mil/per ends up hurting more than it helps a team who is more than “a number one WR away.”

Comical that ayuck rejected $26mil/per from a team who is that close. His ego is gonna be a cancer in that locker room.
Good.

It’s so hard to tell just how good Aiyuk is imo. That system and talented roster could be boosting his numbers. However I keep hearing that he’s one of the best route runners in the game.

If he does get traded and gets a big deal, the pressure will be on him to be just as good on his new team, as he was with the Niners. It will be interesting to see if he is. It’s definitely a gamble for any team to offer what he’s asking.

I hate how the Vikings threw the receiver market out of whack. I hated it when the Rams did it with RBs. But this time is benefitting the Rams, so I’ll get over it.

Jamar Chase is holding out too. Some of these receivers act like spoiled kids.
After a market reset like the one we had this off-season, it's hard not to look at all that green grass on the other side where a couple of your colleagues are happily grazing, and not want to get over there, knowing you deserve it just as much as they do. Maybe you'll get there next season, or maybe you'll get hurt and never get there. It'd be real tough for me. But acting like a brat, ya no.

Contracts are negotiable. Teams don't even think twice about cutting a player when they get injured/underperform their contract so why shouldn't a player try to maximize their value when they're outperforming what they're getting paid?

You go into work and the new employee does half the work and gets paid twice as much as you do for the same job, you just going to sit there and take it? Or are you going to negotiate your salary/start looking for a new job?

Thats why players get guaranteed money and sign for multi year deals to get that guarantee. He should have signed for 3 years if he wants to renegotiate. Nobody really expect the contracts to last thru the last year cause they take to big of a cap hit.

He can't sign a rookie deal for only 3 years. He's doing what he and his agent feels is the best thing for him to do in order to get that next big guarantee contract. What a lot of players do. What AD did, how many camp's did he sit out trying to get a deal? Holding out is one of the few things a player can do in a contract dispute.

Also with all the injuries going on in training camp and preseason games can you blame anybody who only is signed for this year and potentially next on a 5th year option for doing his best to get that long term deal?

Chase 5th year option of 22 mill sure looked like a nice pay day until the WR salaries sky rocketed, and that's a year away.
I cant blame any of these 1st rounders who want to get a new deal after they completed their 3rd year.
They werent able to "negotiate" their rookie deal, it was all salary slotting. So Chase is complying with the CBA, and has every right to get what he can
