In 5 seasons McLaughlin has been with 9 teams. It has been a wild ride:
- Bills brought him in as a UFA and cut him before the 2019 season.
- Vikings has him on their PS for 10 days.
- Chargers signed him and he went 6-9 on FGs and 7-7 on XPs in 4 games before getting waived once Michael Badgley was healthy.
- 49ers signed him and he went 7-8 on FGs and 8-8 on XPs in 3 games before getting waived once Robbie Gould was healthy.
- Colts sign him and he went 5-6 on FGs and 11-11 on XPs in 4 games to end the season since Adam Vinatieri was injured. The Colts signed him to a one year extension but ended up waiving him during final roster cuts in 2020 as he lost the job to ironically enough Rodrigo Blankenship.
- Vikings signed him to their PS in September and he was their for two months.
- Jags signed him since Aldrick Rosas was suspended and Josh Lambo was injured and he went 4-5 on FGs and 3-4 on XPs in 3 games before getting waived once Rosas finished his suspension.
- Jets signed him for the last game of the season where he went 2-2 on XPs after they waived Sam Ficken. They waived him in May 2021.
- Browns claimed him off waivers three days later and he became their kicker for the 2021 season. In 16 games he was 15-21 on FGs and 36-37 on XPs. He resigned with the Browns in April 2022 but was waived a month later.
- McLaughlin signed Colts PS in September 2022 after the team (again ironically enough) released Rodrigo Blankenship. In 16 games with them he was 30-36 on FGs and 21-21 on XPs. Colts let him go when the season ended.
- In March 2023 he signed with the Bucs and (once more ironically enough) beat out Rodrigo Blankenship for the starting job.
