Saquon singed a 1 year 11 million dollar deal. Giants still have him by the short hairs after the season.

EDIT: They cant tag him again, per the 1 year deal he signed. Incorrect apparently
This franchise tag rule is really silly. Since the deadline passed for him to sign a long term deal, he was only able to sign a 1 year deal. But now that he's on a 1 year deal, the team can sign him to an extension.
I look for him to get traded by the deadline if the Giants season goes sideways

Yeah I figured the whole point of this contract was that Saquon gets to not be franchised next season but apparently there is not a no franchise tag clause in it so they can just tag him again. It's a very confusing deal on his part. Franchise tags are guaranteed at least and I don't think this one year deal is even guaranteed completely. Not that they'd likely cut him but still... just weird.

Wow, I heard on the radio that the no-tag provision was in the deal. Very confusing

Oldnotdead predicted numerous times that Spanos, the Chargers owner, is in dire financial straights and is too cheap to pay the big money it would take to get Herbert signed. As a result he also predicted that Spanos would let Herbert leave in FA and/or just trade him to the Rams.

As we've seen today none of this was remotely true....
