I want to see some of those 5-7th round picks used on RBs and a punter. Maybe a true free safety, developmental QB and a big blocking TE too.
Agree.
Saturday afternoon Snead will be very busy with those 8 selections. Unless he utilizes some of those picks on Friday evening with his 2nd & 3rd rd'ers in order to move to get who they ideally desire with those first 2 crucial selections.
Friday night Draft selections have to be home runs, not pop flyouts like other past 2nd day picks......Rapp, Akers, Atwell, Jefferson, Burgess, Lewis, Evans, Henderson & Long.
Beefing up that RB unit with those late selections is a good idea. I would hope that 2 would be selected in this draft. There will be a large amount of unemployed veteran RB's who will be looking for some work after the final cuts before the regular season starts.
Rams had a chance to cut nearly $3 million by releasing always-injured safety Jordan Fuller, they passed on that. Indicating to me, that Morris is depending on Fuller to be a main player in the safety unit.
Good luck with that!
But your right the Rams need a true deep safety. Rams do not have a legit FS on the roster. Fuller, Lake, Yeast, and LeCount are all in-the-box type safeties. All very slow with times around 4.6 in the 40. Rams will have to start safety Russ Yeast & use him deeper on most snaps but his 40-time best was 4.58. I have seen OL/DL'ers run faster this year's NFL Combine.
