He is going in as LB coach and senior assistant not the DC. I think teams will stay away from him for a few years and some will never consider him. The law suit was a bad move.
I believe a team will hire him on his merits. He's a winner and an excellent defensive coach. I seem to recall he had some success against McVay in the Super Bowl and the regular season.

Wes Phillips officially gone, will be OC in MIN. Fuck is that 4 more coaches gone this cycle??

View attachment 52506

Congrats to Wes. Talk about jumping into a loaded offensive unit. Great situation for him.
If O'Connell can win and he was not being considered for Rams OC, then its a good move. I'm guessing that he wasn't talked to about the Rams OC job.
Should be some kind of compensation.
It would be great if they were awarded picks for losing assistants. Even if they were 6th or 7th round comp picks.

Not sure what to expect of Wes in that role. But the offensive roster is loaded in Minnesota. And he's got KOC behind him as HC. So if he can't get the job done there he's not cut out for it.

What is interesting is the QB. Not as ideal a situation as some other ex-McVay guys have ended up with. Taylor and Lafleur both have exceptional QBing.

I agree that would be great but a kind of "Intangible" compensation is that good coaches will want (and have) to come on-board to join McVay and the Rams.

I am dealing with a lot of optimism right now. The Rams won the Super Bowl!

Vikings hired former Cowboys assistant special teams coach Matt Daniels for the team's special teams coordinator position.

Daniels will join Minnesota's revamped coaching staff after two seasons with Dallas. A former Rams safety, Daniels will take over a Vikings special teams unit graded by Pro Football Focus as the ninth best in 2021.

Maybe not quite a McVay coaching-tree but Daniels was Fassel's assistant-ST coach with the Rams.

Coach Eric Henderson extended

While it has not yet been reported, my sources who are very close to the situation with the LA Rams organization and are in a position of knowing this information have informed me that the LA Rams have extended Coach Eric Henderson. Not only will he be back, but he has gotten a nice salary bump to return. In fact, the LA Rams extension will make Coach Henny one of the highest-paid DL coaches in football.

That is excellent news.

Perhaps you think that it’s an easy task to coach a defensive line that includes Aaron Donald. But that is not necessarily the case. His work with veteran A’Shawn Robinson, who turned into one of the best 4i defensive ends in the NFL, and Greg Gaines, who has arguably become the best nose tackle in the NFL.

Now Coach Henny will have a chance to coach that same group again. Of course, he will have to replace his assistant DL Coach Marcus Dixon, who has taken the DL coaching role with the Denver Broncos. Still, getting one of my favorite coaches back is very heartwarming. That means that there will be no shortcuts, no easy paths. #Dawgwork is alive and well in the LA Rams organization. And now, finally, it has carried the team to become NFL Champions.

Even Marquis Copeland made great strides this past season. Now it's time for Henderson to work his magic on Bobby Brown ...

And Earnest Brown IV. I think he has a lot of potential if he bulks up.

Not me. I remember at the time of the draft posting he was my least favored pick, and that was after us choosing TuTu over Creed.

As you well know, I hated the Atwell pick. EB4 at least looked like an NFL player; Chatarius Atwell did not.

I did t know much about him.

My feeling at the time was that we already had both Copeland & Lawler on the roster, and if we wanted to go after another DE, which I didn't have a problem with, that he should be more of a pass rushing specialist. When the Rams elevated Jonah Williams to the 53 roster over EB4, that basically confirmed my suspicions about him. There should be a good camp battle this upcoming year between E.Brown4, Williams & Copeland, hopefully they all look good.

I didn't like the Atwell pick either, but I was/am willing to give him a chance. He may very well turn out to be an injury machine, although I'm still holding out hope that McVay has a plan for him that doesn't continue to blow up in our face.
