The 49’ers feel like a team that will make some noise soon once the Jimmy situation is resolved.
Then again, I keep bumping into these odd articles about Lance. Why do the 49’ers appear noncommittal? Lance doesn’t know directly he is the starter? Weird.

Before Dweebo’s demands the Niners we’re saying they’d keep Jimmy as insurance without a good offer for him. So they must be trying to fake out the remaining QB needy teams. They think that the closer they get to the draft the more likely it is that they’ll get their first rounder for him. If they ended up releasing him after turning down two second round picks that would be an epic fail.
That's assuming they actually GOT that kind of offer.

I don’t want to get into there team & drama. The only things I will say is I’m glad for the trade of Lance as well as the pick. Hope he is a failure to be honest.
The Jimmy G thing to me is sort of silly,because they could have done so much better just sitting tight & drafting Jones & keeping there 2 first rd picks.

I think Debo has outplayed his rookie deal.. He is in 4th year of contract and due to make
4.8 mil this year. He is a dual position weapon and has proven to be far more valuable
than his current deal.
But 25mil a year? not sure about that. I do think he is a core player that the 9er's can't afford to
let go. As a Ram fan I hope they pay him everything he wants.

They provide cheap labour for teams in their 1st contract. Sure a lot of the Rookies bust and don't even earn the meagre contact they got.
But the Rookies that outplay their meagre contract should be extended asap after their 3rd season. They earned it and the teams were already way ahead in money terms.
I was so angry when the Rams made AD work so hard to get his first extension. It wasn't right.

The San Francisco 49ers are facing an uncertain quarterback situation for the second straight offseason. While they have made it clear that they are open to trading Jimmy Garoppolo, there have been numerous conflicting reports about their level of confidence in Trey Lance. One NFL insider thinks there could still be a QB competition this summer.Garoppolo was not present at the start of voluntary workouts on Tuesday. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media said the reason for that is Jimmy G. is still recovering from shoulder surgery he had after the season. While Lance is preparing as if he is going to be the starting quarterback next season, Rapoport said there is a “scenario” where Garoppolo keeps the job.

“The caveat here is what if Jimmy Garoppolo just doesn’t get traded? What if he is not able to throw until mid-August?” Rapoport said. “What if he’s not able to throw full-strength by then? There is really only one team remaining that has been viewed as a potential suitor for Garoppolo. Some reports have claimed the Niners already gave Lance the impression he will be their starter, but what if Garoppolo is not traded and outplays him? The situation has the potential to get complicated.
Cowherd always says, "if stuff 'gets out', it's because somebody wanted it to get out". Getting it out there that there's still going to be a QB competition between a first round pick and a guy the team is desperately trying to trade might be to light a fire under the first round pick and get him to work a little harder. OR to garner a bit more interest from teams in need of a starting QB.
