3 things that caused this loss, and you already stated them.

Zach Thomas - nothing more needed on that. But that said, Hendrickson is easily their best pass rusher. Somehow the Bengals can keep AD in check (mostly) by scheming for him. Why the hell did we not scheme to help Thomas out on their best pass rusher? Lucky Stafford escaped without injury here and it would have been on the coaches.

Tutu - I saw zero clear evidence that his heel touched. Don't they say that we need clear obvious evidence to overturn a call made on the field? How did they determine that? What I saw was he tip toed and his heel not touch. Utterly ridiculous.

Run Game - Seriously McVay? Against arguably the worst run defense in the league we barely even attempted to run, and, ironically, when we did, we averaged nearly 6 yards.... but yeah, lets have the oldest player in the league (who missed a majority of last season hurt) drop back 40+ times with perhaps the worst LT in the league trying to block their best pass rusher. Makes sense.
You nailed it
Two comments on the ridiculous thought that the NFL is rigged.

First, such an extreme degree of institutional corruption would need to be so extensive that it could never be fully and permanently concealed; and, that leads to the second comment ...

If the NFL was rigged, and that came to light, the Sport of Professional Football would Immediately Die simply because so many fans would become disinterested; and would just stop supporting it.
It wouldn’t have to go past the commissioner and the refs. That is how NASCAR did it for years. Engine inspectors okayed engines that didn’t have the regulation restrictor plates. It eventually came out because some of those engines were purchased by other teams and they failed inspections. NASCAR is still going strong.

Back to the NFL- it wouldn’t end the league. It’s too big and too popular just like NASCAR and mlb with the steroid La. Refs sign a nondisclosure agreement and cannot speak to the press. That must be an ironclad agreement because it hasn’t happened. So all it takes is a play here or there. Sometimes it only takes one bad call. The league don’t have to rig every game but if a Super Bowl contender is 0-2 do they really want them to be 0-3?

I’ll site a game that the penalties were absurdly bad. Rams vs Pittsburgh 2019. No official could be as bad as the group that called that game. It’s not humanly possible. Coincidentally the Steelers (still a media darling at the time) needed that win to stay in playoff contention. I think it was rigged.

Okay I’ll site another. Seahawks vs Dallas in the playoffs when Hasselback was the QB. The Seahawks picked up a lot of momentum. They were effectively driving down the field by running the ball, and looked like a legitimate threat to beat Dallas. Then the phantom offsides penalty called. Nobody could see it. Even the announcers couldn’t see it. But that one call changed the outcome. Pretty inconspicuous and easy to get away with. It gave the Cowboys defense the chance they needed.

The last one I’ll site is the Rams / Pats Super Bowl back in the GSOT days. That entire game was rigged from start to finish. The Patriots 9/11, Krafts big TV rights deal. They had reasons.

If you really believe that NFL games are fixed then why do you bother to watch them and waste your time on a board dedicated to the Rams of the NFL?
Doesn't make much sense to me......

~ArkyRamsFan~
Because all of the games aren’t fixed. Just a few key games here and there to set up the playoffs with the teams they want. Also it doesn’t mean that your team can’t overcome the refs. Or if your team is ahead by enough that they clearly are the better team then they don’t bother. No refs can turn around a beat down. It’s still worth watching. It’s still fun and most of the games are legit.

We had a similar thought but I was going to go with this one ...

I didn’t even mention the partnership with Vegas.

But it’s appropriate that you brought up WWE. The NFL has the same designation. They are a Sports Entertainment business. That is their way out if they got caught. They don’t have to guarantee a fairly played game. It can legally be scripted if they wanted.

Right. And the Broncos let Miami score 70 because Ass Face
took the “over” at 89 points.
So the Dolphins are beating the lowly Broncos. There would be no reason to interfere with that game. The league wouldn’t have to interfere with 3/4 of games. Maybe more. Throughout the season it only takes a nudge here or there to steer an outcome and ensure a team close to the playoffs that would be a bigger draw, makes it in. They want to sell tickets and merchandise. Some teams fans don’t travel well or even fill their own stadiums.

If you were selling commercial spots which ones do you think would bring more money? Ads for a Buffalo vs Miami playoff game or a Rams vs Falcons playoff game? It’s all about the money in the end.

All of that aside, I think this last Rams/Bengals game was just some missed calls. It’s only week three. It’s a bit early to be helping a team out. Although, I doubt that many 0-3 teams make it into the playoffs.

This

As Elm states - only a couple games changed by the refs can affect a direction the league is going towards the playoffs

I really don’t think there’s any need to waste time disproving silly theories about fixing games.

That theory has been debunked so many times, it's literally in the category as flat earth

That's how the league got out of the lawsuit that Jets fans were suing to get ticket money back. The judge agreed.
Wrong again. You clearly either didn’t read the opinion or lack the capacity to understand the basis of the ruling (I’m guessing you’re not a lawyer).

Suffice to say, nothing in the decision would allow the NFL to fix games with impunity.

People can't explain why the change in the replay policy. When first instituted the replay had to clearly show "The referee must see "incontrovertible visual evidence" that is from the NFL's own guideline. Tutu's foot isn't clearly out nor is there incontrovertible evidence visual evidence that his foot was out. A few years ago anything that close the play would stand because it didn't meet the threshold to change the play.

The same can be said about the INT. The DB did not have control of the ball, it touched the turf and bounced allowing the player to then gain possession. Again a few years ago that INT is over turned.

Now look at the stills of the Niner OL alignment. It is CLEARLY illegal as are the multiple instances where the RT moves pre snap. But the officials don't flag it even though one is specifically tasked with ensuring the OL is aligned properly.

You cannot make a case that they didn't see these things. This is without a doubt point shaving, no different that what used to go on in the NBA. The fact that NY is complicit with the replays in violation of their own guidelines shows you that the fix was intentional by the NFL.

So how do you explain that or rationalize that? This shit happens every week and the coaches and players know it.

The Rams benefited from in 2021 where the clock runs out but McVay is allowed to call a timeout. Over and over again. When you aren't the favorite you fight the other team and the refs and to say it's just stupid refs doesn't cut it. The replays overturning shit proves beyond doubt that NY i.e. the NFL is complicit.

These are all different refs so are they all stupid and blind? Or have they been told to shave points. What explanation makes more sense.

Oh BTW the Bengals won by 3 points. The Tutu TD reversal was their margin of victory. That TD is allowed the Rams win and the bettors lose.

A few years ago the NFL prohibited gaming advertising at stadiums etc. Now sports betting is a commercial sponsor and that is when the point shaving started. Coincidence?
