Hitchen’s razor:
What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

Just saying.
I gave evidence. Nobody refuted that the 2019 Rams vs Steelers game was not fixed. We all watched that game. The refs handed it to the Steelers despite them having a backup QB. I have a few more. Friends of mine that are Steelers fans agree that the refs purposely screwed the refs.

Prove to me that they really are just bad calls. Because that is what you are claiming here.

If a group of refs is that bad why would an elite level sport who is so worried about having every game called fairly, like the NFL not find better refs? Why not penalize Refs for glaringly bad calls. Why Why doesn’t the NFL make it a full time job? How can one referee crew call good games all season then call a horrible game in one week. An entire crew? Why aren’t refs permitted to take to the press? You assert that all of these things are legit. Prove it.

Santa wasn’t discussed in my Jewish household. Just another one of your theories that doesn’t hold up when the facts come out.

And, don’t sell yourself short…whether or not you initiated it, you’ve accomplished a complete hijacking of this thread. Mazel tov.
Ah poor baby got his thread hijacked. It was so much work creating it.

SB36 was fixed. 9/11. The "PATRIOTS"? Who else winning the SB would make a great story for America?

TGSOT was in their heyday. The refs swallowed their flags on the Patriots defensive holding. Why? Can't have the biggest game of the year and call D holding on every other play. And as a result, that cheating, fat, frumpy, mofo in New England is considered one of the best head coaches in history.

None of that is evidence of a fix.

I don’t think you know what the word evidence means.

Whoa. Slow down. I never declared a side in this argument. I have read a couple of good posts for both, causing me to give the subject more thought. Plus, I have seen and currently work in a corporate environment that shamelessly “fixes” the outcome of certain situations.

I am too old and have seen too much to think anything is pure in these matters.

Having said all that, there are some assertions on this topic that are quite inflammatory—on BOTH sides. Those require some proof.

In your particular comments, you have claimed there is proper evidence. I will look into it because you gave a path. There are those who have not and I must therefore dismiss them. This is an open minded approach. That is really all you can ask from your audience, right?

Other times they fail to call an obvious PI and your team goes to the Super Bowl.
That was not PI. I maintain that the ball had already flown past the WR when he was hit by NRC. The WR did not even react as if he expected a PI there.

Would love to see the all 22 of that play. I'm sure it exists, and can probably prove me right or wrong. Anyway, that's my story and I am DAMN SURE sticking to it.

how is he supposed to have evidence the refs/nfl massaged the game to a stealers win?

.
That’s the point.

If you are going to assert that there was a fix (i.e. a deliberate predetermined plan to control the outcome), you have to have more than “there were bad calls that favored one team.” That, alone, is evidence of nothing, other than the fallibility of referees.

He has presented no evidence of a fix. Not one shred.

Looks uncatchable to me. How could a ref(s) make a mistake like that on a play so big...... In a game so massive??
It wasn’t uncatchable. It was a mistake. It happens.

NRC admitted it should have been a penalty (and he was later fined because it was also helmet to helmet).

The refs then missed PI on Cooks in the Super Bowl. Again… it happens.

A billion dollar business is just that.

The idea that "fair play" is behind the NFL's success is absurd.

But just like the rest of life, something doesn't need to be objectively fixed to have interests align in a way that create the impression that it is fixed via backward rationalization.

So let's be thankful that we have a powerful owner because that's where the real game is being played.

They couldn't, and wouldn't. No PI....

Right?
No all 22 on this play but from this angle it clearly shows the ball is not there and catchable

It is still a couple feet from the receiver

I don’t need evidence. You did not produce any evidence that can clearly dismiss my claim.

What I don’t get is why you won’t even entertain the possibility that it may be true. What is honest about big business in this country or world even? How is it that you would think the NFL is this shining beacon of truth and fair play? Are you that impressed with the character of all of the owners in the league? I’m certainly not.

The technology exists to get ball placement 100% correct every time. They wont use it. I’ve seen ball placement screw the Rams and other teams in close games in the past. There are changes that the league could embrace if they were truly concerned with having every aspect of every game be a fair competition. They won’t do it

MLB is instituting an electronic strike zone. They don’t want anyone thinking an umpires calls decided a game. I agree with @Mackeyser. Baseball is better at ensuring games are played fairly. He stated the differences between the two.

Oh—the one instance of poor officiating in that game that went against the Saints. The rest went against us, along with a lot of other adversities, and we still won. It sucks the opposite narrative seems to have endured.

Hey Elm, I'm on your side when it comes to advocating for more civility on this board. But as you may recall, I'm in the "NFL probably isn't rigged" camp.

Just wanted to point out that my POV still allows for plenty of cynicism. :laugh1:Yes, I think the NFL owners are greedy guys who would happily break or bend rules if it meant more $. But my POV is that the RISK of rigging being exposed is so great that the owners wouldn't do it. The deterrent against rigging is huge.

Anyway, you and I and @Mackeyser have gone over this stuff a couple times over the years... people can disagree amicably. Pretty clear that on this subject, nobody is gonna be convinced to switch sides.

Cheers :beer2:
