Think maybe Snead’s gonna get a raise?

I think he definitely will and he’s certainly earned it as the successful architect of the ‘Eff them picks’ methodology of roster building.

Probably gonna be a private thing since exec salaries are not made public other than length of contract extensions and the like.

For all we know it’s already happened.

Anyway, I’ve been a Snead fan since ‘12 and since he teamed up with McVay I’ve been a huge Snead honk. The results are no longer deniable. Snead was a HR hire right up there with McVay.

About that Super Bowl MVP award…

I’ve been thinking…

Kupp had a tremendous 4th quarter, well, really a tremendous final drive. I couldn’t be more proud of him, but he didn’t throw those amazing passes to himself.

Meaning that Stafford did a helluva job without other quality weapons as targets and Bengals knew it. Stafford had to operate with obviously no running game as the final minutes ticked on. I submit that few QB’s could have pulled that off under those conditions. Damned few.

Meanwhile, AD had himself a great game and even went into beast mode late in that game. His final 2 plays are now part of Rams legend. Who knows what would have happened without AD making those plays?

Wouldn’t it have been nice to make those 3 guys Co-MVP winners? Too late now, but I would have been most happy with that outcome. I think all 3 players were deserving.

Adopting the Rams model

On espn this morning the question was what team should adopt the Rams model of team building?
I thought this was pretty hilarious since only last week this was a unorthodox risky strategy the Rams front office was using which never works in football, except when it’s Tom Brady.
The second question was is it a failure if the Rams stink next year, which is also pretty hilarious.
No one seems to know what to make of this team which is great maybe they’ll get a couple more rings before they figure it out.

When did the Bengals Defense

Become the best run defense we tried to run against? Did it seem that the defense knew the run play before our RB got the hand off? I re-watched the Niner game, and believe it or not, we had more operating room in our run game against them than the Bengals. We’re we that predictable? Doesn’t Frisco know our run game too? Is Higbee that important to our blocking scheme?Did we not consider a jumbo package to help get Cam, Sony, and Hendo some room to run? Mixon more than doubled our whole run production….hmmmm…I know, I know, we still won the game, thanks to the heroics of Stafford and Kupp…but figuring out our run game will preserve Stafford for a few more years.

Rams Tattoo

I told my wife I was getting one if we won the superbowl. I'm sure many of you already have them. Anyone want to share there's or have any ideas for a good one? I wanted to incorporate some palm trees with either a rams helmet or the new rams logo or rams head. I'm really not sure. Just looking for some ideas or to see if anyone else had any cool rams tats that might give me some ideas. First tattoo at 38 years old! Not a mid life crisis just a bet I made with my wife and I'm following through!

Rams Post-Season Roster Breakdown

Time to get back to work!

So here is how I see our roster right now. Its going to be an interesting offseason!

Quarterback
Signed: Matthew Stafford
Free Agent: John Wolford (ER)
Perhaps the Rams draft a developmental QB to compete with Wolford (who I suspect will be retained, at least until training camp/preseason) but, otherwise, we're set at this position.

Running Back
Signed: Cam Akers, Darrell Henderson, Jake Funk
Free Agents: Sony Michel (U), Buddy Howell (U)
With Akers and Henderson returning, I suspect that Michel will find a new home. I'd also expect that the Rams will draft a RB, as last year showed how essential depth is at this position.

Wide Receiver/Tight End
Signed: Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, Van Jefferson, Tutu Atwell, Jacob Harris, Ben Skowronek, Tyler Higbee, Kendall Blanton, Brycen Hopkins
Free Agents: Odell Beckham, Jr. (U), Johnny Mundt (U)
This position group is very strong, particularly if Woods, Atwell and Harris are all healthy. OBJ is the big question mark, though I suspect he'll want to stay and the Rams will find a way to make that happen (maybe a 2 year deal with high incentives for year 1 and a team option for year 2?). If Mundt returns, it will be a bargain basement contract.

Offensive Line
Signed: Andrew Whitworth, Rob Havenstein, David Edwards, Bobby Evans, Tremayne Anchrum, Alaric Jackson
Free Agents: Brian Allen (U), Austin Corbett (U), Joe Noteboom (U), Coleman Shelton (R)
So much to unpack here. The first question is whether Big Whit retires. I suspect he will, but we're still waiting on a formal announcement. If he does, I think re-signing Noteboom will become a priority, unless the team really thinks Jackson is ready to start at LT (seems unlikely). Not sure we can afford to bring back both Allen and Corbett, so the question is... did we win a title because of them, or in spite of them? Of the two, my gut tells me that Allen is more likely to be prioritized. We could find an OG in the draft.

Defensive Line
Signed: Aaron Donald, Greg Gaines, A'Shawn Robinson, Marquise Copeland, Mike Hoecht, Chris Garrett
Free Agents: Sebastian Joseph-Day (U)
Assuming Donald does not retire (and, no, I don't think he will), we're set at this position. SJD is a luxury we might not be able to afford, but the emergence of Gaines and Robinson in the second half of the season made him expendable.

Linebackers
Signed: Leonard Floyd, Ernest Jones, Terrell Lewis, Christian Rozeboom
Free Agents: Von Miller (U), Travin Howard (U), Ogbonnia Okoronkwo (U), Troy Reeder (R)
Miller is the key here. I think the Rams will find a way to keep him. If they do, we're set at three starting positions (Jones and Floyd filling the other two). The rest of the free agents are replaceable so, if they want to return, their price tags must be reasonable. Otherwise, I think ILB is a position where you can find a real gem in the mid rounds of the draft.

Defensive Backs
Signed: Jalen Ramsey, David Long, Jr., Robert Rochell, Jordan Fuller, Taylor Rapp, Terrell Burgess, Nick Scott
Free Agents: Darious Williams (U), Donte Deayon (U)
I don't think DWill was a great fit for our scheme (particularly given the role that Ramsey takes in the slot), so I'll be surprised if we re-sign him. If he leaves, I'd expect we'd look to add a CB or two in the draft. The safety position looks pretty good, largely due to Scott demonstrating that he's more than a special teams ace. With him, Fuller and Rapp, I think we're set.

Special Teams
Signed: Johnny Hekker, Matthew Orzech
Free Agents: Matt Gay (R), Brandon Powell (U)
I hope and expect that both Gay and Powell will return. Hekker probably does too, though the Rams could again flirt with a replacement if money is an issue.

All in all, I think the roster is in pretty good shape. If Miller stays and the OL is kept solid, we should be right back in the thick of things next year!

Kupp's Pass to Stafford

The more I think about that play, the more I think it was originally for OBJ.

We've tried a WR pass from Kupp before and his pass was terrible, but OBJ's pass to Akers was beautiful earlier this year.

Kupp threw the ball to Stafford way too early and it was not close, as if they didn't practice it much.

After OBJ went down and we were desperate, I think McVay said fuck it, let's try it with Kupp.

Things to ponder

I’m not quite ready to let go of this magical season, yet not ready to jump into next season either.

In this limbo, I offer these 2 things that popped into my mind while reading some of these recent threads.

1) Can you imagine Steven Jackson in his prime in our backfield next year? Given the Rams culture today is what he craved all along, I’m thinking he rolls up 2K yards over 17 games.

2) Can you imagine if Tutu had been headhunted by Ward like that instead of OBJ in that 9er game? His funeral would have put a huge damper on the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl.

Feel free to add your own.

What if Mcvay really retired ?

Just wondering being 14.5 million over the cap next year and what if Mcvay retires? We have players possibly moving on or retiring. How do we keep the fans in the seats? Does Morris become the new head coach? what kind of team Are we left with? I envisioned a young ambitious coach (Mcvay) hanging around and creating a legend like Bill B. If coach stays then because of the cap they have a big challenge to try and compete next year and I feel Mcvay and Sneed are up to the challenge but what if Mcvay retires...... Time will tell. Go rams.
