How good is our roster ?

Defensive Roster is above average. Need to replenish the CB, DE and FS positions.

Offensive Roster is below average with below average Center and Guards. LTs are average. WRs below average.
QB average for now but will be above average next year. RB below average for now (needs new Center and OL to open the holes). TEs are average (Rams need to draft TEs who knows how to play football).

Overall, the Rams roster is average because of offensive deficiencies are pulling the team down.

Gurley instagram post before the game

We're talking about the same Hugh Jackson of the winless Browns, right? The guy who, in frustration, took off his headset, gave the playcalling to Pep Hamilton, and stopped communicating with the offense - and the QB - against the Bengals this year?
The same guy who was a quality OC for the Bengals the previous year's. Don't think any coach is winning with the Browns and losing brings frustration.

Greg Williams only got 3 more games left?

I've been generally positive towards Williams, and I think on balance he's done a good job. Players have developed under him, and it's tough to find defensive draft picks we can call "busts" (can't remember the name of the 5th round CB from Miami who didn't make it, but that's about the closest thing). But if there's one thing I've seen lately is that these guys are not coached well in the fundamentals of tackling, and if GW is replaced (as I expect), the new guy better fix that.

That being said, I hope they can find a guy that runs a similar defense to Williams, because I really don't think we need to (or should) start over completely on that side of the ball. Tweaks and some talent upgrades to be sure, but the D is not a disaster the way the O is.

Who's gonna pick the next HC?

I was wondering that...

We don't know if Les Snead will survive as GM, but at least he's a football person.

If he doesn't survive, what other football people are in the building? That's an honest question.

Kevin Demoff is NOT a football person and should have zero say in football operations. I think something about this was mentioned on Skip and Shannon, but I haven't gotten on Youtube, yet.

So, if Les Snead isn't part of the decision, who is going to be at the vanguard in selecting the next Rams HC?

Or are the Rams going to pick a GM first? or perhaps hire them in tandem? And if in tandem, how does that work? How would the evaluation of the HC candidates work in that case?

The logistics of this process evades me.

I'm the pattern guy and this process is already starting out to be...problematic. Not saying the end product will be bad. Hopefully, it will be fantastic.

That said, this process can't be done in the same way as Demoff does business development.

It's football. It just isn't the same.

Why we will.

Rams.com: Hill Promoted to Active Roster

This team has made many questionable moves in the secondary, starting with the Janoris Jenkins situation, with him firing his agent because he thought the agent was in cahoots with the Rams and they were low balling him and quite frankly, he might have been right considering the money he received, however, he has lived up to his contract and the Rams should have paid him.

Then E.J. Gaines has turned into Brandon McGee and was not healthy from the outset and just does not look like the same defensive back he was from his rookie year after coming back from Lisfranc Injury and in fact this year the only thing the Rams have been able to rely on is the unreliability of E.J. Gaines.

Troy Hill was tested early and often, but was starting to round into a solid corner and Gaines was starting to come back as well and then they cut Hill. Again the Rams had no plans beyond Hill because they don't have another outside corner. Joyner is a slot corner only along with Countess who should not be on the damn roster IMO. They had others too, like claiming Arizona defensive back Marqui Christian, however, he never plays. They claimed Steve Williams off waivers from the Chargers, but then cut him to claim Dewayne Gratz from Jacksonville only to cut Gratz and sign Steve Williams again once Hill was released as well.

So in the end, Blake Countess can only play the slot, so why did they activate him and Joyner has proven he cannot play on an island, Gratz never got an opportunity and for some reason they have not tried Christian at all, but he stays on the roster. Add in Michael Jordan who IMO is to slow for Corner and looks the part of a safety to me. All in all, you could debate that Troy Hill has been the 2nd best corner on the roster and he was cut, again I understand you want to send a message, but you don't cut your second best CB for that IMHO, but again when it happen I questioned what would happen if Gaines got injured and it did happen and there was no plan.

This is what reporters should be asking the coaches just like playing Saffold at LT and not having Greg Robinson active or Pace Murphy and no one asked the coaching staff why they did not plan for a Saffold injury when he plays tackle, he always gets hurt. They through Andrew Donnal at LT who had not played the position since High School. So as I digress, I concur Troy Hill should have never been cut and I'm glad he will be playing over Jordan, if he is in fact starting over him.
