The Dallas Cowboys are the team to beat in the NFC in 2017

The Cowboys are the Justin Biebers of the NFL. The most over-inflated fan base in pro sports (their #1 NFL popularity is obviously not based on football-related reasons, so there you go). So I'm shocked they're picked once again to sell all the merch, ads, and attract the hits.

The worst part about all that is now they actually are good and at *football,* so the world's largest, whiniest, lamest and most undeserving fanbase will actually be even more insufferable for the foreseeable future. The Cowboys' smartly developed a dominant OL, and their 2 rookies are spectacular. If the Rams hadn't come home this would probably make me lose interest in the NFL altogether.
Please tell me how we are the most undeserving fanbase, when we have stuck by our team through all the bad years. Whiniest? There's a thread on here crying about the schedule. Saying we're #1, but it's not football-related is just an ignorant comment. We have always sold out our home games. When I went to St. Louis, I was able to move up 12 rows to some empty seats on the 50-freaking-yard line only 6 rows up. Oh, and it's a FOOTBALL team, so everything is football related. This thread obviously Triggered you. Go find a safe place and deal with your emotions.

Gangland Undercover

Gangland Undercover is returning for a second season. If you missed season 1 you can probably catch reruns on the History Channel. The second season starts March 2 on History.

I loved the first season. This is a true story about Charlie Falco. He was a Meth dealer and eventually was busted. He cut a deal with an ATF agent to infiltrate the Vagos and bring the local chapter down. It was an insightful look at what a real Motorcycle gang is like these days. It is narrated like a story being told. They are true accounts only the star of the series, Damon Runyan, does the narrating also.

Falco moved to the East coast through witness protection and must have got the itch to get back to work because he went undercover two more times. I believe it is the Mongols he goes after this season.

Downtown Rams Draft Profile: Houston LB Steven Taylor

Never should have released Ray Ray....And he was a "decent" athlete. The reason he was move from safety to LB was partially due to his 4.7 40 time at his pro day...or was it the combine? Whatever.
Tough for guys that are not only undersized but lack elite athleticism to make it in the league. He'd have to play inside LB. Only undersized guys I know on the outside are like Dwight Freeny....speed & power demons.
It seems like U. of Houston has a scheme that really showcases outside blitzers/rushers....Remember Sammy Brown a few years ago? And he looked awesome....on tape.
Very good point ...

I've never been a fan of the zombie thing since "Dawn of the Dead" back in '79. I liked it but it was repetitive and that is how I've viewed the last 10 years of endless zombie-ish movies. Never watched an episode of "The Walking Dead" either. I realize SCD is satire but now a zombie that doesn't look like a zombie? Just not for me.
Well, not to beat a dead horse, but it's hardly a "zombie thing". Its a dark comedy full of satire. I work with a lot of real estate agents, and get a kick out of how they are portrayed.
In any event, I cant see how the content would be offensive to anyone, its just really funny. Timothy Olyphant is an absolute pisser

Happy birthday Marshall Faulk! Remember the Greatness!

Happy birthday to the player that got me hooked into football and being a Rams fan. Marshall Faulks dual threat ability and elusiveness really caught my eye as a youngster, he just so happen to have the coolest helmet as well haha. And here I am the Rams fan I am today, possibly because of Marshall. Here is to a legend!

Thanks for posting these great videos! A really nice salute to, IMO, the Greatest All-Purpose Player the Rams have ever had!

Jake Ellenbogen's 2017 L.A. Rams Mock Draft 2.0

--Impressive - you have me sold. It seems like that would be a good spot to draft him. Still have to get through the combine.Ball skills are huge.
--Taylor Mays was a big FS from USC. That he broke the 40 record for a moment. He then step into the DB drills & he looked like a Fish(pun) out of water.
Haha on the pun. Unfortunately he was snubbed from the combine. Can't make this up...

Jared Goff has hired Tom House and Adam Dedeaux . They are already working together this offseason.

My concern is that they teach him things that he will have to "unlearn" when he can finally get coached by people who are able to get a job in the NFL.

This is a legit fear IMO.
House and Company are going to work on mecganics and strength. You don't need to "unteach" that unless it is completely unorthodox or just flat wrong. Those guys teach it right. McVay, Olsen and LaFleur will teach the intricacies of the "offense" .So again .. .there is nothing to worry about "unlearning". The House offseason work is strictly foot work, core development, delivery, eyes, etc. The how's and why's of McVay's offense will be taught by the masters themselves.

I think this is a great fit and something Goff should continue for at least a couple more yrs.

The I'm Sick of Studying Chemistry Mock Draft

I'm exaggerating, but the point stands. There are very few receivers who run every route. They play to their strengths. Some receivers might be super good route runners but can't adjust to catches on the sideline and they won't run out breaking routes. Some can't win downfield and will run few vertical routes. Its just rare. Most players just have a role they play.

I disagree. If you don't vary routes, defenders can cheat. If you're on the field, it means one of two things:
1. You can run the entire route tree; or
2. You're so gifted at something that you can win even when the defense knows to take it away.

Having a role you play doesn't mean you can't run other routes. A guy like Julian Edelman isn't a vertical threat, but you better bet he could run a skinny post if the play called for it. And you'd have to respect him on that route.

I think he has a bunch of trump cards (explosion, open field ability, catching in traffic, physicality) that will allow him to produce even if he is limited in the offense. He can probably still get 500 yards next year running just the routes he runs now. That would get him a 40 million contract ;).

I think you're being very optimistic. Golden Tate played in Charlie Weis's pro style offense at Notre Dame. He consistently won jump balls in college. He still only put up 609 yards and 3 TDs over his first two years in the NFL. Henderson isn't going to consistently get on the field unless he can run the entire route tree and read the defense. He's not a guy who will scary NFL teams vertically, he's not going to be Mossing NFL CBs right and left, and teams will quickly recognize it if most of his receptions come on screen passes.

Most of all, they're not going to risk hanging Goff out to dry unless they trust Henderson's ability to execute the offense. I don't think there's a chance that Henderson could put up 500 yards as a rookie running three routes.(because he's not an elite level vertical threat)

I don't really understand the rush with next season. Where are the Rams going next year. This isn't a veteran team that has the window closing and needs immediate production. After watching Goff this year the idea we're in the playoff hunt and miss out because of a raw rookie WR is the opposite of a problem.

That's understandable. If you're willing to spend the second round pick on a guy who likely won't produce as a rookie, that's your choice to make.(after all, you should always be drafting with the next 5 years in mind...not just the next 1) If you think the upside makes it worthwhile, I won't tell you that you're wrong.

However, I am not nearly as high on Henderson as you are...and as I said, the reports about his work habits and on-the-field mistakes scare the hell out of me.

Jrry32 Pre-Combine Mock Draft

I think you're underestimating the stress and adjustment of a first time head coach, especially someone who is calling plays. I might feel differently if we had veteran presence like Baltimore, Kansas City, Pittsburgh (or if he had a year coaching under his belt) but we don't. The risk isn't necessarily kept only to the draft pick. The locker room seemed pretty weak when Fisher was fired. It would be pretty brave of Mcvay to put that on himself.
You also have to understand the bias people have against him. Its not exactly a hot take. Being in bright lights of LA he's going to have to go even further to repair his image and the team is going to have to spend extra resources protecting him because you know there's going to be thousands of PETA people protesting him at every game. I question if he has the maturity to keep it together here and become a professional athlete. His interviews will be pretty interesting I guess. If a team picked him at all it would be because of any emotional maturity he showed, or else there's no way I can see him being drafted.

If you had to value (in terms of a draft pick) Gordon's career arc what would would it be to you. For me 1-2 years of production and then being kicked out of the league isn't enough to spend picks on someone. Its not the same of getting 2 years of production at the end of a contract and being able to resign them (or get a comp pick, or trade them)

Gordon was kicked off two college teams for his drug problems. Zamora's issues aren't drugs. Mike Vick came back from much worse. If Zamora can play, people will forget about what he did (as long as he doesn't do it again).

Let PETA protest. If McVay can't handle a potential knucklehead in the locker room, he's not the right guy to lead this team.

My mind isn't changing barring worse things coming out on Zamora's character/work habits. I'll take the risk on a player like Zamora in the 4th when I think it's worth it. It's worth it here.

T-Hawks New 5 Round Mock Draft and Offseason

I really like Godwin. He has a lot of Garcon type traits. He is one of the best contested catch receivers I've seen. I'm interested in how he'll do at the combine.
I like Jourdan Lewis, but wonder if he can stick on the outside. He's definitely talented. Very tenacious and sticky in coverage.
I haven't watched Fuller but a starting center would be nice for once.
I really like all the free agents except Kalil. They would really help the Rams. I'm really not a fan of Kalil, he might be worse than Robinson. It would be cheap though I guess.
I've mostly watched receivers and tight ends this year and Kenny Golladay was disappointing. He doesn't use his size or body very well and was not the best route runner. With Jackson and Godwin he probably wouldn't play much either.

As far as safety goes I actually think Mo is better at free safety than strong safety. He was an average FS this year which was very surprising to me and did a pretty good job replacing Mcleod. TJ probably won't cost very much to bring back (like 3-5 million a year).

Simmons: Experienced Kromer to Lead Young Offensive Line

If Cook doesn't drop 2 passes prior, on the same drive, it wouldn't have come down to that catch.

So you say ?? He had a bunch of other catches in the game as well. Rogers was not afraid to throw to him .
He doesn't block all that well & Green Bay signed him for a good contract.

-- There will be some good finds in FA's this year of players who get released.
