Noteboom agrees to restructure contract, lowers cap hit by 8.4M in 2024

Void years and prorated signing bonus are the same.
Base salary reduced from 10 mill to 5 mill, roster bonus reduced from 5 mill to 1 mill, however that per game bonus of 750k can be a friggin nightmare and could put the Rams further behind. Not sure if the roster bonus is capped because 750k x 17 games is 12.75 mill
Oh yeah, totally missed the "per game" part. Eek, yeah that could get ugly. That'd basically mean we're paying him more, just a different way of pushing that to next year. Will have to see what the final determination is on that before judging.

Rams Tender Hoecht - Right of first refusal

I like Hoecht a lot and think he will surprise people. He is great for depth and might yet prove to mature into a decent starter. He is a late bloomer that was getting better every week, often in leaps and bounds at a time. If he can continue that ascent, look out, because he'll vastly out perform that contract and become a key piece in a cap world. Hoecht is one player I am excited to watch in 2024-25 because I am curious where that ceiling is. He sure does not seem to have hit it yet.

The only time he didn't look good was when he was dropped into coverage. That's not really on him. It's not what he's built for.
The question is - at what position can me maximize his talents? He’s an elephant chasing gazelles in pass coverage so it isn’t OLB.

Free Agency Predictions

I’m bummed about the edge situation.

But…

Objectively, really an EXCELLENT FA season, so far… imo.

Really, zero head scratchers… a ton of stability and talented young additions with real upside.

I mean.. 5 starters? 6 if they start in 11 personnel?

And each position is an upgrade.. or solid retention.

Now.. 11 draft picks. Fun.

Ten years later

What a draft that was to get AD. Goes to show though that you need teams to outsmart themselves to get the great players sometimes. They gotta get to you.

I would guess the hit rates are pretty good on OTs in round 1 for the reason that if they can't play LT they can often play on the right or even the interior. But I haven't looked them up or anything.

Re: the Rams this year I think their OL moves cementing the interior might affect their plans with the OTs. Guy like Fautanu for example has to be able to play LT. With another team he'd have other spots available as a fallback. Not with the Rams. So I think his value to the Rams takes a bit of a hit, unless they love him at LT which is possible. He did play in big games at LT. But my guess is they are more after Guyton, who is a bit of a project but has the feet and size you want and who also performed well in Senior Bowl practices.

Rams trying to get something done with Shelton

I know many think this ship has sailed and it may have. A couple of questions.

How many teams need a starting center?
If Shelton doesn't get signed to starting center money elsewhere, what would it take to re-sign him as a backup to Avila, Dotson and Jackson? Can't be more than the 5 mil they'll save by cutting Noteboom. Maybe even less. The guy has made less than 7 mil over 5 years from the Rams. 3.5 is more than half of that.

Never say never.
I can see that especially if they use late picks to move up and not really target a rookie C. Probably what will happen if he doesn’t draw much interest. Rams are just being patient with that situation.

Justin Fields: an idea and a question

The trade market for Justin Fields is rapidly drying meaning that, if he is traded, it will likely be to a team that won’t slot him in as an immediate starter.

Could/should the Rams be interested?

Let’s say the Rams were to get him for a 3rd round pick. He’d be a very good insurance policy (and could be used as in occasional RPO packages) for this year, at a price of around $3.25M.

The Rams would, of course, decline Fields’ 5th year option, which would pay him over $20M.

I don’t know if, having turned down the option, the Rams would be eligible to get a comp pick if (when) Fields leaves after a year. If they do, that mitigates against the price.

This could become moot any moment now but, in the meantime, anyone like this idea?
1/6th (2024) + 1/6th (2025) = 1/3rd…..no? I believe I learned that in 3rd grade and somehow it stuck.

Free Agency: Who Signs Elsewhere and What Comp Picks might we get next year?

Just from the Post thread - I’ll say a Comp pick for all The Haters for Raheem Morris.

Don’t see The Rams losing any really quality players to FA’s.

There 2 early signings basically show that & who else will The Rams pick up.Resign Spoon is my hope.
Alaric Jackson ? How much will he get paid & where to ? Hope also that he resigns
