Rams sign Tre'Davious White

We have completely rebuilt the secondary which was the number one weak area on the team last season. Think the Defense will be much improved.

well The defense is definitely going to be built better.I like the positive feeling !!

I guess I got a few people fired up yesterday.Sort of like the first response. That said Cooper(Edgerinn) makes me think he might be that guy The Rams need ? Just don’t like him in the first rd ? At 4.5 speed you like that.

Latu & Wilson though are 2 players I really like & both can rush the passer. Both are Football Players.
You don’t have to watch to much more after watching compete at the Combine & they check off The Boxes. There’s no way that is happening, but for value picks & where The Rams are drafting there is a. Chance ????

That said there is a lot of good football players in this draft, but The Rams holes have to be found & or addressed ?

I’d ask how long have you been a Rams Fan ? It doesn’t matter, but it brings me back to Times were The Rams thought they had depth, but they didn’t.

Les Snead always talks about (him & scouts) winning The Super Bowl in APRIL !! His track record is all over the place to me !!!meaning.

Great at working the draft board.
I could go on & on about different things.I guess Rouchelli or whatever the dude that played against Tre Lance.Just shows some small school guys aren’t all that. The Jack Rabbit ? True J-
(Johnson$) Point being The Rams could still use a solid CB & there might be The Best CB on the board when The Rams draft.

Shula will be more into defensive coverage as well. The Rams need a lot of help on defense still.Especially looking ahead,

Maybe a WR is needed, especially after next season.

Rams Re-Sign LB Troy Reeder

He may not even make the team - maybe he will, I don't know. In mean time, he's insurance -- for depth
Yeah, signed so Rams don't have to force a pick at LB in the draft. One can argue we need depth (Reeder or draft pick) and/or we need a starter (if we think we'll run more 5-2 or are thinking of life after Jones).

It's a horrible year for LB in the draft (and generally, it's been getting worse year over year). Reeder was signed after Rams started to finalize their grades. I would bet that a prior knowledge of a bad linebacker draft was confirmed with their work being finalized so they picked up Reeder for the depth that they don't necessarily think they'll find in the draft.

Lots of talk about what McSnead do as drafters but I think they're far more flexible than just, this is the kind of guy they look for and this is the kind of guy they'll always draft. What I imagine is a little more determinative of what the Rams do is under Snead is that they have at times drafted in bunches, taking multiple swings at one position of need.

OLB last year. Corner the year before. Oline around 2017 or 18 forget what year it was.

I think there's a decent chance they take multiple swings at Dline depth (separating OLB and Dline here). I think they probably try to get an OLB high and then use 1-3 picks on DT/DE. There's no magic OLB answer in this draft, even the best guys are okay. I see them grabbing a good OLB and then trying to fill out the Dline with role players (probably 2 guys with pass rush potential and one run plugger).

Any semblance of a pass rush next year will have to come from a rotating Dline where we can throw waves of guys at teams.

umm... so yeah, Reeder, depth... yeah

Jourdan's latest 11 personell podcast 4/8/24

You are one of the very few that think he doesn't have much of a ceiling. Not to mention him having an incredibly low floor?! I'm not sure what games your watching that I am not.
My bad, I meant high floor! Low ceiling. But hey, I think he can be a high variance pass rusher who year over year will be a bit all over the place without the superior explosiveness to take it to the next level. Think he's a guy who can you 12 sacks one year and 8 the next. And that's not a terrible thing, per se!

Players Headed To Draft in Detroit

I don't see him as an edge at all. That athletic profile might work in college, but running that slowly for what we ask of our edges, isn't going to fly. I could see a plan for him to play edge on early downs and then move inside to rush passer with hand in dirt. That said, no interest at all at 19. Trade down, I could entertain it.

I just don't see him as...anything other than a potential 5-tech, and honestly, I think Jenkins is a much better 5-tech than Robinson could ever be. Robinson never had this kind of production until his redshirt senior year, and honestly didn't pop on tape when I saw him - and I watched every Mizzou game.

I'm simply not interested in drafting him anywhere near the first round, if at all. Out of all of the Mizzou guys, Rakestraw, KAD, Schrader, Hopper, and Foster are all guys I'd take in their respective rounds over Robinson, even in the second round.

I just don't see it with him. I don't see it with any D-lineman Mizzou had last year; it was easily the most underwhelming D-line I've seen out of a competitive Mizzou team. It was really the offensive line, wide receiver corps secondary that really paved the way for such a good year.

Kobie Turner is a treasure.....

I had seen a stat on Twitter where it showed Turner had a higher doubleteam rate than Jalen Carter did and a similar rate to Donald's...
This chart here shows that:

Pass Rushing Rates at DT, 2023 per ESPN Analytics

Here's another link showing the same in Table format:

DT Pass Rush Win Rate Rankings

Kobie was doubled at the 2nd highest rate in the league for all DTs at 72%. Makes sense as a NT.

Just basic measurables for reference Edge and DI

Out of interest, do you know how many people were involved in deciding the final order?

A more accurate ranking is achieved when it isn’t just one person’s opinion.
I do not know ... it was sent to me, just those two sheets because I was interested in them because they in in chart form with measurable.

I wasn't interested in the rankings in this case, just the numbers.

Mock of integrity (meaning my one and only)

Rams get lucky with a run on Tackles early and Dallas wants to trade up for their guy. This also leaves a number of players on the board at 19 that the Rams like, giving them the confidence to trade down.

Rams get 24 and 87 for 19 and 155.

24. Johnny Newton —DT

Rams fans celebrate the extra draft capital for about a day until McVay pisses off half the board by moving up for his new toy.

Giants only have 6 picks and move down a few slots in the second round for the extra selection.

Rams get 47, 107 and 183 for 52, 99, 154 and 209.

47. Xavier Legette-WR
*don’t think he makes it past the Giants, Jags, Bengals, Eagles and Steelers to pick 53. Fans (some anyway)are not thrilled because he won’t play a whole lot this year until second half but he can play that X position and has kick return ability. Also red flag that he only has the one year of solid production in college.

83. Marshawn Kneeland-Edge
Just the top guy that fell really.
87. McKinley Jackson-DT
*More of a nose tackle in my poor man’s scouting opinion.
107. Jaylan Ford -LB
*Rams have met with him this offseason. A bit of a reach but I feel like that every year(most thought Kobie Turner was a reach)
183. Hoping a guy that can be our backup center and guard depth falls here. Beaux Limmer or Tannor Bartolini. If not then the same thought at the tackle position and a guy like Matt Goncalves.
196. Jaylen Harrell-Edge
*Rams have met with him this offseason. I also like Xavier Thomas here.
213. Kimani Vidal -RB
Maurice Jones-Drew comp but hasn’t knocked out his girlfriend in an elevator yet (to my knowledge anyway)
217. Tip Reiman- TE
I just want to watch McVay’s offense with a Tight end that is 271 lbs and surprisingly athletic with good hands.
254. Qwan’tez Stiggers-CB
Players who have this level of athletic ability are not often available at this point in the draft.
I don't have any issues with this mock. I too can see McVay trading up in the 2nd for a toy, be it Legette, McConkey, Pearsall, etc. Lot of options and whichever McVay fancies is probably the target. Newton and Kneeland would go a long way towards improving our pass rush. Vidal isn't my ideal back up RB but no huge deal.

Rams Coaching Staff

Nothing would surprise me with Shula. Hope he kicks ass but I don't really have a sense of certainty with him. Reminds me of the Morris hire in that way.

The Staley hire felt risky but focused. As in he was specifically brought in to install the Fangio scheme and teach it to McVay. But Morris I wondered if it was his first friend hire, as I didn't see any Fangio background.

Lesson for me in all that is McVay probably taught him and he proved good enough to do the job. And so with Shula I figure McVay won't let him fail but hopefully he can also get it done. But not particularly confident, moreso just hopeful.

Always the PESSIMIST !!!

Raheem helped win The Rams a SUPERBOWL !! That Eric Weedle find was GENIOUS!! He just got a HC position which brought The Rams 2 3rd rd DRAFT PICKS !!

Shula was hired with WADE PHILLIPS & LEARNED from him.
Then STALEY who F’ HIM(9er) loser !! Talk about a RISK !!! You see what the Chargers went through there Last 3 Seasons ???

Staley was only with The Rams 1 season.

Rams re-sign Tyler Johnson

Well I’ll continue on to what I wanted to see.The Rams bringing back solid players that deserved to get paid for there contributions as Rams(players).

Tyler Johnson brings such a positive vibe along with Demarcus Robinson.

These guys make coach Yarber’s job that much easier.Having veteran guys with Tutu yet again all complement each other.

I also know bringing in a young WR is going to be necessary with them all being FA’s ? That player though will learn a lot with this group of players.

Rams Future Contracts

Can you just translate for us? I think I would break my brain trying to input @So Ram post to the formula.:laugh4:
Thanks Ramball, I know some of my thoughts get lost in translation.

You’ve been to training camps & we’ve all seen these UDRFA’s make the roster & each year become starters.

I guess this question might be to hard for you to break down, but I’ll ask you anyways & hope your brain doesn’t hurt to much from it.

What Rams player do you see that being ? All The Rams draft picks made it last year so the question should be about these 2nd year guy's other than Puka,Young & Turner ? I can see a lot of improvement coming & with 2 HUGE draft classes in a row probably eliminates the chance of players like Alaric Jackson,Rozeboom,& Hoecht have done.

Jacob Hummel has a chance as of now,but Peyton Wilson is a player I want The Rams to draft. His speed would fit perfect w/Ernest Jones.imo a side to sideline player is what The Rams need.If anyone who watched The Super Bowl 2023 & any knowledge could see the difference between having that player to when they loss that player.I know Travis was happy & loved the ending with Dre Greenlaw getting hurt.
