Perhaps, but there are two factors during tight stretches that can impact calls:I’m wondering if there’s a conscious trend by refs to go light on defensive penalties at end of games. I’m seeing a lot of no calls (defensive holding , face masking, QBs hit low, etc).
1. You will be criticized if you call or don’t call it. If you make a call, make it big and obvious. Even officials do not want to decide the game like the idiot who called pass interference against D Will in Buffalo.
2. There’s a lot of stress and pressure on officials, crowd noise, coaches yelling, etc. at the end of the game. Those distractions could lead to a missed call that would be made in normal circumstances.
