My Dad got stationed in Ft Leavenworth for 1 year when I was a freshman in HS. Talk about a fucking lame place to live. There was literally nothing to do.

Me and a couple of friends would drive over to Kansas City and watch the Royals though. Brett and Company were playing for them then. We went to a shit load of games... so I was cursed. They won the World Series when I was a senior in high school (1985).... since then they haven't made the playoffs. Awesome.

I hate baseball, but I'll be a Royal Fan for life.

A Rams fan AND a Royal fan?

You poor guy.

Though, you can blame Don Denkinger for the Royals woes...giving the WS away to the Royals on a horrible call has cursed them.

Hahaha

I knew you'd bring that up. One of the few times that things "worked out" for my team.

Cardinals.

And like with most sports franchises, I have a team in each conference. My chosen AL team is the Tigers.

You mean Don Denkinger won the World Series in 1985

Dodgers.

I grew up in NY but for some reason I hated EVERY NY related sports team. I started really following sports in the mid 70's and became a Rams, Lakers, Dodgers fan. I dont know if I picked them because of my hatred of NY teams or my inner rebel was starting to make an appearance.

One-on-One basketball my buddy was always the celtics and I was the Lakers
Playing in the pool he was team USA and I was always USSR
Wrestling he was pro Hulk Hogan and I liked the Iron Sheik

Born in LA during the Koufax/ Drysdale years & grew up with Garvey, Lopes, Russell & Cey. Moved to NorCal as a kid but stayed true to the Blue. And the Rams, Lakers, Kings, Thunderbirds (Roller Derby)...

Russell was my favorite Dodger. When I was 12 I won some dodger tickets thru the pony league I was in. I got to meet Russell, Garvey, Lopes, Cey, Yeager....

It was a great game too. Dodgers were down in the 10th when they brought in Russell to pinch hit. Crack! Home run! Knocked in Baker and Cey for the win.

Very Nice! I went to several games at the Stick. (What a dump!) Russell was a class act and big-time clutch hitter.

True Story: One time, when I was 11, I got his and Ron Cey's autograph by the visitor's dugout before the game. Bill was engaging / Ron - not so much...

After the game, (which the Dodgers won) My Giant-Fan friend and I waited for the Giants to leave the parking lot. You actually had access to the player's lot back in the day! Willie McCovey pulled over and gave us his signature and shook our hands. Total class - He was the only Giant I ever routed for. On the other hand, Bobby Bonds rapidly drove past us without even a nod. Barry's an asshole, but I know he comes by it honestly.

I was a huge Dodgers fan when I was a little kid. Garvey, Lopes, Russell, Cey, Baker, Yeager...
Even had a little book on how to throw a curve ball, written by Don Sutton, and implemented it in little league.

Then, as I got older, I stopped caring about baseball in favor of playing football.
Really don't watch much baseball anymore.

When I was a kid the Dodgers and Pirates were my other favourite teams.

Huge fan of those Dodgers players you listed. That was my era too.

These days I find baseball too slow. I can't sit and watch a whole game without doing something else at the same time. (At the stadium it's a different story)

Red Sox fan here although I'm not sure "fan" is the right word these days cus I don't really follow the game much anymore other than checking AL East standings occasionally.

Me and three friends flew over from 'Old' England to New England in 2004 with tickets to 2 games against the Devil Rays as they were known at the time. First game was rained off but thankfully it got scheduled for a couple of days later so we got to see a day night double header. Loved the atmosphere on Yawkey Way pre-game and Fenway Park is a beautiful stadium. Of course the Sox won the Series that season for the first time in a billion years.

Coincidence?.................... yes, probably

Love the Dodgers, but really like the A's. Can't stand the Vagiants. My Grandma was a Dodgers fan because she hated the yankees and the D's were always the underdog to them Damn yankees, so the entire family was given a few choices and none of them consisted of the yankees.

I was lucky enough to grow up with a Grandma and Grandpa that had weekend season tickets to the Oakland A's.
It was really something back in those days...Charlie Finley, Reggie Jackson, Bert Campaneris and Catfish Hunter, just to name a few...
Then onto the days of "Billy Ball" to the "Bash Brothers" team of Canseco and McGwire and beyond.
I will cherish those memories with my Grandparents always...and will always be a true "green and gold" A's fan in my heart.
If I had to pick a second team though...it would be the Red Sox.
