I'm not going to beat the drum much longer... but this points to the root of the problem:
* Bad Oline
* Average, at best WRs and TEs
* Poor game planning and in-game adjustments

Yes, Keenum might give them a spark for a game or two. But I believe these other elements will eventually overcome him. That's why replacing a starting QB for performance usually doesn't end well.

After a short while, he'll get figured out and you're back to what you are. Then what? Fisher said something about Foles may start again in the future?

I hope we at least get a spark out of Keenan but I firmly believe he is not the "rest of the season" antidote to what ails this offense.

It goes deeper than just the QB.

Amen...

I would agree with you (IF) I believed this OL was sound, it's not and it all begins there. Can they win a few tight ones against equally challenged offenses, sure,..... but I don't believe consistently.

I also fear that Tavon won't finish the season, he's just too small to play a primary role and like Gurley, there's a tendency to lean heavily on them both. As for Gurley, I love how he finishes runs, but at this point, I'm hating "some" of his hurdles. I'm OIK with them near the line of scrimmage, but that one where he hurdled downfield at speed scared the crap out of me. Primarily because he was running so fast, when he was partially grabbed in mid air, he then landed sort of awkwardly and I could almost "feel" the stress on his knee.

Just as with the saying that when you pass the ball, 3 things can happen and two of them are bad also applies (IMO), to running backs leaving their feet, especially at high speed.
I hear what you are saying. I think we finish 6-10 or 7-9. I'm not expecting a playoff run. I just see losing to a 2-7 team as the final nail in the coffin.

Oh it definately goes deeper than Foles. The receivers suck and so does the line. Only above average player on our offense is Gurley. That being said Foles play warranted getting benched. I also doubt Keenum fixes our offense. We look to have another 6-10 to 7-9 season.

I didn't want to "like" your post, but I sure do agree with it. (y)

I get it Chris, I just don't believe it's going to make that much difference as far as getting to a playoff birth.

That's your prerogative. I'm not going to be negative about the season as a whole until they are mathematically eliminated.

Case has won games for a lesser team. The potential is there. A light in the darkness, if you will. But, will he end up like Foles? I guess we'll find out. There's no way to know until you play the games.

The odds jump if we win in Baltimore. Then even more if we knock of the Bengals. At the end, who cares if it's 50-50 at the end of the season. When was the last time you felt that excitement in December for your favorite team?

I don't know why everyone is on our wr's lately. Britt, Quick, Austin, those guys don't suck. They haven't combined to be as good as we'd like them to, but they are far from terrible and definitely don't suck.
QB has been an issue, but like many said before the season, we committed to taking a chance with an inexperienced line and that has caused issues from an execution standpoint.
Hopefully we can slow the game down this week. Pound the rock, throw screens, Quick outs, etc to keep them from loading the box. We just have to play ball.

I have zero confidence in this Rams team at this point. They should win this game but which Rams team will show up?

Also the Ravens are indeed better than their record indicates. I know their fans are traumatized, but that's just because they're used to winning; walk a season in our shoes and they'd be able to see some positives in their team.

IMO: flip a coin for this game in terms of who will win it. I am just not confident.

I believe we win. Then again, I can always put together a scenario in which we do no matter who we are playing.

"I'm thinking we lose 21-24 with the Ravens giving up a 108 yard kickoff return in the final seconds to Tavon Austin"

I love how Austin is going to return a kick 108 yards yet he doesn't return kickoffs.

I think Tavon Austin would be on the kick return team for a final kick return that requires a score to win the game.

Case Keenum to Start Against the Ravens

After last week the Rams are benching Nick Foles. The Ravens old friend Case Keenum will get the start. Ravens fans will remember Keenum as the guy who couldn't win a game as a starter until he played the Ravens in Houston the end of last year. I do wonder if that is why Fisher is making this move this week.
--------
(everyone who needs a QB on their fantasy team scrambles to draft Keenum)
--------
Haha - I actually did this last night when I saw the news
--------
I'm sure a part of Fisher knows he is fucking with the Ravens a bit.

However, Foles has been bad. I don't think Keenum will be much better though.
------
I don't think it's about messing with the Ravens. The Rams are right in the hunt. Fisher is trying to give Keenum the easiest possible matchup. Keenum's history against the Ravens and the fact that we suck is probably what's driving this. We're not good enough for anyone to even waste time messing with us. The Ravens are now the Browns, Bucs and Jags of the NFL.
-------
Whoa whoa. Record-similarity-wise we may be like those teams, but their organizations are much sorrier than ours!
-------
I mentioned in my coaching carousel thread that Fisher might be in the hot seat. I thought they totally ripped off the Iggles when they got Foles for Bradford but Foles has regressed. This all tells me that the Iggles organization can run offense/qb better than the rams.
I really think Ravens will win big this weekend.
-------
Bradford had been terrible in Philly. The rams actually won that trade since they got a better draft pick.
-------
Foles stinks. It's not anything more than that.
------
If the Ravens don't win this game now, they are going to go 0-for the rest of the year.
------
rolling.gif
this ****** is gonna beat us like a drum again
-------
One bad year in a league of parity doesn't mean dick. Nor does it indicate a trend.

And the comparisons that we are now the Browns is lunacy. We don't have high turnover of coaches from being fired. We don't have a federally indicted owner. We don't have decades of losing or anything close to a culture of losing. We don't have a turnstile at the QB position. We don't have a pathetic fan base.

We are absolutely nothing like those franchises.
-------
They could start Casey Kasem and he'd have a career day
-------
Im not sure about big since we do have to account for Gurley and especially that pass rush but Im looking forward to getting #3. Whether its Case or Foles or whoever back there.

Also I doubt Fisher is doing this to screw with us in any way even though he does have a history of trolling as the Redskins can relate.
-------
I said before the Jaguars game that because of their performance against Palmer (who just sliced up Seattle) and Phillip Rivers I didn't expect Bortles to do any more damage than those guys (and he didn't).

Keenum was 185/1 int/50.2 QB Rating against a much more banged up Secondary last year with arguably better weapons at his disposal. He's not going to do much better than that Sunday.
-------
they are going to do enough to win and we will do enough to lose. The Rams defense ain't no joke, I don't see what we have on offense doing good against them, this might be the implosion game.
-------
If we played the Patriots we'd lose by 1 score. I don't see any Redskins/Saints type games this year for the Ravens. The Rams defense has been tough most of the year. We'll probably lose 16-13 in overtime.
-------
boy you have more faith than I do, I think we get blowed out this one, the offense won't have enough to match the Rams Defense, the defense will get lit up by our guy Diggs, the offense will turn the ball over because they won't have any answer for the pressure the Rams will bring, I see the defense imploding finally, then the offense will follow suit.
--------
People saying Case Keenum winning against us last year is some sign he has our number obviously didn't watch much of JJ Watt that game. The guy borderline beat us single handedly and it was games like that that made me feel he deserved the MVP award. Sure, they didn't make the playoffs, but without Watt they wouldn't have come close.
-------
As good as Gurley has been, at least the D is decent at stopping the run. Other teams don't even try to run, they know passing is the way to beat the Ravens
-------
Nothing should be a win now, we suck. This season should be put in a brown paper bag and set on fire along with Pees and Trestman. I hate prevent defense. especially when they only had 40 yards to go. Our receivers suck and yet we throw 40+ a game when we don't have to. We lost to Browns and Jags.
34853_baghead.gif

-------
I already put in my waiver in one league. The only reason why I won't go after him in another is, because I already have the max amount of QBs allowed, but if I could I'd skip ALL OF THEM to start Keenum Sunday.

I just distinctly remember the Ravens straight up embarrassing us in 2011. 37-3 and Torrey Smith having a career game.

A win helps me put that one to rest.

practical logic:

look..a regular starting QB and two linemen are gone. Not to mention all the other suspect injuries to wide receivers and defense.
The Ravens at home shouldnt have too much of a problem

Me personally? I don't think I ever said that.

I'd categorize them as "average, at best".

Is it the QB that has held them back? Like most things, there is probably some of that going on.

But I still don't have confidence they can CONSISTENTLY get open and CONSISTENTLY catch the ball.

Yes, our offense isn't geared toward the pass much... but in those games where we get behind and pass more, that part of the game falters... again, not all on them... but none of them has stepped up CONSISTENTLY.

Next up: St. Louis Rams

What? They're 4-5 and second in the West. Foles has been awful and if McCown and Bortles can beat us, then Case surely can. Plus their defense is nasty.
-------
I see a win here. The fact that Case Keenun was the backup if nick foles shows that he's a really bad QB which will force the Rams to run a lot. The only thing this team knows how to do is stop the run.
-------
Luckily the Rams choose some games to just not show up to at all so hopefully this is one of them. Also luckily we aren't in their division which decreases there chances of showing up.

St. Louis Rams vs. Baltimore Ravens Betting Odds, Analysis, NFL Pick
By OddsShark.com, Featured Columnist Nov 17, 2015

The Baltimore Ravens (2-7) will go for their first win against an NFC team this season when they host the St. Louis Rams (4-5) on Sunday. The Ravens have already lost to the NFC West’s San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals, and they are coming off a tough 22-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week as five-point home favorites.

Point spread: This game opened as a pick'em; the total was 42.5 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. (Line updates and matchup report)

NFL pick, via Odds Shark computer: 23.0-20.3 Ravens

Why the Rams can cover the spread

St. Louis head coach Jeff Fisher is hoping a switch at quarterback will help jump-start his team’s offense with Case Keenum replacing the ineffective Nick Foles. Keenum had a few good games with the Houston Texans over the previous two seasons, and he cannot be much worse than Foles has played in his first year with the Rams.

Foles threw for 200 yards or fewer in eight straight games since leading them to a season-opening win over the Seattle Seahawks, totaling six touchdowns and six interceptions. Keenum may be able to give them the spark they need to get back on track and make a run at a playoff spot with some big plays in the passing game while allowing rookie running back Todd Gurley to shine and carry the offense.

Why the Ravens can cover the spread

Baltimore would have earned a victory last week against the Jaguars if the referees did not call a bad penalty that allowed Jacksonville to kick the game-winning field goal. Instead, the Ravens find themselves losers of four of their last five. While they have covered the spread only once this season in a 26-18 road loss to the Arizona Cardinals, they have been involved in a lot of close games that simply have not gone their way.

That loss to the Cardinals was Baltimore’s lone setback by more than a touchdown this season, with seven of the team’s past eight decided by four points or fewer. The two wins the Ravens earned this season were also both decided by a field goal, with kicker Justin Tucker coming through on the game’s final play both times. Tucker is arguably the best kicker in the NFL and could very well be the difference-maker against the Rams as well.

Smart pick

Baltimore is 13-5 straight-up in its last 18 games after losing as a favorite, and the team has also gone 16-1 SU in its past 17 home games versus NFC opponents with an 11-6 mark against the spread. Keenum won only twice in 10 games with the Texans despite playing well at times, and he will be over his head playing on the road against an angry Ravens defense. Back Baltimore to get its third victory by a field goal or more to cover.

Betting trends

The Ravens are 13-5 SU in their last 18 games after losing as favorite.

The Ravens are 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight games after a loss.

The Rams are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games in Week 11.

St. Louis Rams vs. Baltimore Ravens, 11/22/15 – Expert Prediction

GAME SNAPSHOT

St. Louis Rams vs. Baltimore Ravens
Written by Ricky

Jim-Brown-366x239.jpg

St. Louis Rams (4-5 SU, 4-5 ATS, 3-6 O/U) at Baltimore Ravens (2-7 SU, 1-7-1 ATS, 5-4 O/U)

NFL: Sunday, November 22 at 1:00 p.m. ET

The line: Baltimore Ravens -2.5. Total: 41.5.

The St. Louis Rams will be looking to end an alarming two-game losing streak when they visit M&T Bank Stadium for a showdown with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday afternoon. St. Louis had won two in row before going down at Minnesota and then laying an egg against visiting Chicago. The Ravens are a dismal 2-7 and have dropped four of their last five games after losing at home to Jacksonville last week.

Foles folds

Nick Foles is out and Case Keenum is in.

One day after getting blown out 37-13 at home by the Bears, St. Louis announced it will bench Foles and start Keenum for a Week 11 date with Baltimore. The Rams are 31st in the league in yards per game and 32nd in passing yards per game.

Through nine games, Foles is 32nd in the NFL in QBR (34.1), 29th in passer rating (75.9), and 28th in passing yards (1,678). Keenum has made 10 career starts since signing with Houston in 2012 as an undrafted free agent. He compiled a 2-8 record while throwing for 2,195 yards with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

“We’re going to go ahead and go with Case,” head coach Jeff Fisher explained. “This is my decision. Nobody came down the hall and said, ‘This is what we need to do.’ The lack of offensive production is a collective effort and coaching. But we need more production, and it starts with that position.”

Gladiators, I salute you

Ravens’ head coach John Harbaugh referenced the Oscar-winning movie “Gladiator” while insisting that his players would not throw in the towel on 2015 despite a shocking 2-7 record.

“When they all go shield to shield and shoulder to shoulder, and they’re in the square…that’s how you handle tough times as a family,” Harbaugh said. “That’s how you handle tough times as a team or as an organization, and that’s what we will do.”

This is just second time in the past six seasons that Baltimore has lost at least seven games in a season (it went 8-8 in 2013). With receiver Steve Smith out for the year, quarterback Joe Flacco has struggled. The veteran has been picked off five times in his last four outings, including twice in an upset loss to the Jaguars this past Sunday.

Trends

The St. Louis Rams are:
  • 4-1 Under in their last five overall
  • 5-1 Under in their last six road games
  • 6-0 Under in their last six road games against teams with losing home records
The Baltimore Ravens are:
  • 1-7-1 ATS in their last nine overall
  • 0-7 ATS in their last seven home games
  • 0-7 ATS in their last seven games against teams with losing records
The Rams cannot do much worse than how they were faring with Foles, but the quarterback switch still cannot come with much optimism. Keenum is a lifetime journeyman and there is a reason for that: he is not a starting-caliber signal-caller. The under is 4-1 in St. Louis’ last five overall and 5-1 in its last six on the road. Fortunately for St. Louis, Flacco and Baltimore’s offense are also struggling. Roll with the under and also consider St. Louis.

Pick: Under 41.5

I love how Austin is going to return a kick 108 yards yet he doesn't return kickoffs.

He also forced seattle to squib/onside kick in OT, they were afraid to kick to him.

I think we get killed

I had no idea whether the Rams would win before the QB change... now? I really have no idea.

But, there's always hope!!
Naw, once you start benching people...cutting people...firing people, the rest get the message...They'll be more motivated than ever....Especially the offensive players...First one to fall is Foles...They're going to try and make sure he's the last...I expect career games from some linemen, wrs, and especially the TE's....Gurley's gonna Gurley.

First big win on the road....well, since AZ
