none of them are saints. not the owners, not the league office, not the administrators. its quite the opposite. If they are talking they are lying. The Raiders will probably end up in STL just because of the fact that Davis is outright denying it so hard.

from the LA Times:
Kroenke: In the summer of 2013, I really started looking hard. I knew the general lay of the land in Inglewood. To me, there was one obvious place, and it had been approved previously by the NFL: Hollywood Park.

I didn't know if it would be put together or not. But I started looking. I was driving around at 5:30 a.m. That's what real estate developers do.

Q: Why were you up so early?

Kroenke: That's the best time because the traffic isn't out, so you can get around quickly. I started looking at different sites to make sure I had them in my head. What do they look like? What could be done? How does the long term look for the areas? And when you drive up to Hollywood Park, it's a great site.

Q: Kevin, do you remember getting that early-morning call from Stan?

Demoff: There are moments in your life you never forget. I was standing by the window in my office [in St. Louis] and Stan called. ... I remember he said, "This is an unbelievable site."

* Friday morning update: The Rams organization confirms the land purchase, but not any plans to develop a stadium. From the LA Business Journal:

Kevin Demoff, executive vice president of football operations and chief operating officer for the St. Louis Rams, confirmed early on January 31,2014. the purchase of the former Wal-Mart site in Inglewood. “As real estate developers, the Kroenke Organizations are involved in numerous real estate deals across the country and North America,” he wrote in an email to the Business Journal. “While we can confirm media reports that we recently purchased land in Inglewood, as a private company we don’t typically discuss our plans for commercial or residential investments. We have yet to decide what we are going to do with the property but we will look at all options, as we do with all of our properties.

Wait a min? If I get all this correct, @Athos , @Stel , @FRO , & @CoachO (coach0, seriously?!?) aren't gonna be posting??? WTF?!? And a bunch of yall are also finished with the team? Damn...
In 94...I was a wild 27 years old...could care less if the team moved...it was hard to afford to go to any game beside preseason...and really wasn't worth it... I didn't feel attached to Anaheim...simple as that...so the actual move hurt, but more like, eff them...eff Georgia... Once I got to understand it all, $$$$, then I understood....Once I got cable, DirecTv, man they could play on the moon.. I'm gonna watch football on Sunday...taped or live...of my Rams... I hardly watch these damn playoffs...could really care less who wins (anybody but the Pats, Seahawks, and Cards in that order..and eff the Steelers too)..
I'm happy that I may be able to see a playoff game, LIVE, never did that...See Jenkins at a strip club (just kidding...not really)....See Gurley in the Coliseum!!!! But I understand...took me 3 years...'98...The Raiders coming then leaving helped...

I grew up with the Rams..My mom was rooting for anybody vs LA teams (she hated the Lakers, Rams, Dodgers) and my dad was born in Miami....I remember them cheering against a Ram team with Shack Harris...The next year, their first in gold & blue, I was a fan and began to learn the players...I was 6 or 7. I only knew football from the street then, and learned to love the game...I remember when they drafted John Cappaletti.....and I figured he'd be a bust...LOLOLOLOL! Thought the same about Haden...

This team is in your bloods, you'll come back...And take your time...There is no time frame for grieving...everyone has there own speed...take it slow...watch from afar...

If we grab a franchise QB (in those days it was Jim Everett) you'll smile...

Nah - the strip joints in CA suck. Pasties and G-strings - WTF is up with that? He'll fly up to Oregon if he wants to go to a real strip joint.

Ahh, I see you need an escort to show you around....They passed a rule a few years ago...If you serve liquor, they have to wear stuff....Most places have circumvented this rule by having clothed dancers on a separate floor, and totally nude on others:mrburnsevil:...not that I follow these things...:sneaky:

Enos Stanley Kroenke... Just the thought that you were named after legendary St. Louis Cardinal Hall of Famers Enos Slaughter and Stan Musial makes us sick to our stomach. From all of us here in St. Louis, you aren't welcome here anymore. I hope the door smacks that nasty toupee off your head on the way out.

— Kelly Manno, St. Louis
Using her podcast, The Kelly Manno Show, as a platform, Kelly raised money from listeners to send cow poop to Stan Kroenke's doorstep.

Amen.

As a Christian, I'm not much for that kind of thing, but cow poop is definitely better than sending pubic lice as someone else suggested... /shudder...

For me, posting on this site was about being able to share my first hand experiences. Whether it was sharing my observations from training camp, or seeing things from my seat in the dome on game day, it was a way for me to connect and relate things I saw in person.

Getting the "behind the scenes" information from someone who worked directly with the team during training camp. Getting to know a family member of one of the players. It made this personal for me.

Losing that personal connection, and being forced to become a couch potato fan, relying on the limited perspective of the television broadcast just isn't the same thing.

There have been many times I see other posters comment on things they see. In their defense, they are limited to what they see on tv when making evaluations on a particular player. They don't get the benefit of seeing the field as the play develops or what someone away from the ball me might be doing.

I will continue the root for certain players. But after being forced to endure the putrid product that has been the STL Rams, (4 winning seasons out of 21) why in the world would I possibly want to sit back and watch them succeed in another city?

I don't want to be that guy. I realize this goes against everything this forum stands for, but when they leave, they'll be just another team to me.

Maybe so. But some of us put his predecessor a little higher on the totem pole of horrid human beings. She intentionally ran the team into the ground before she moved them. And quite honestly, LA fans consider him a hero and great human being. ......

I get the LA fans enthusiasm right now, and harbor no ill will towards them at all. But a few things to consider about your 'hero and great human being'......

This is a man who was born & raised in MO. Named after 2 legendary STL sports figures, and graduated college from Mizzou. He's got more 'roots' in MO than most. But even if you argue this was a strictly business decision, there was no need for him to just crap all over MO like he did as he made his decision. That takes an extraordinarily small man to pull that nonsense.

He's got more money than God and the NFL was going to kiss his behind and grant him whatever he wanted regardless. That's clearly evident by the way they've been ignoring his 'cross ownership' violations ever since he took full ownership of the team. He is THE fat cat in a herd of fat cats, and they knew it.

That whole 'exhausted all efforts...' thing is an utter joke. He did the bare minimum to put up a sham of a pretense that he complied with the slam dunk joke of a document known as 'Relocation Guidelines'. Anyone that's ever believed there was going to be any adherence to that farce was seriously kidding themselves.

The smartest thing he ever did was marry into Walmart money. Yes, he's a shrewd business man, and probably would have made himself rich by most people's standards even if he hadn't married into that family. But a sizable portion of his 'shrewd' business deals were, in reality, sweetheart deals building small strip centers around every Walmart SuperCenter that opened because father-in-law gave him the ability to do so. He never had to 'outbid' another developer. So, yes....he's a good businessman, but the shrewdest thing he's ever done is pick his marriage partner.

So, I invite all the LA Rams fans to enjoy the honeymoon. The next 5-10 yr are probably going to be fun for you. But take note of what's just transpired that's making you so happy at the moment. And keep in mind that if he could crap on his 'roots' as easily as he's done, you'll have no reason to be surprised when he starts putting the screws to you some time in the future. And you also may come to think of Anus StabMe Kranky as something less than a hero and great human being.

Now excuse me while I go barf.

First time posting since the news... Think its a good point to wait another couple days before making any rash decision. With that said I'm pretty lost on what to do as a fan :/ this sucks. In a sense I'm happy for LA Ram fans, on another how could Kroenke just lie his way through this? Just the way everything went down was so bad. Blah...

Which is funny because he very much helped extract them from LA and plant them in STL.

Is it OK with you if I post this somewhere else? The underlined portion is a solid plea and you've put down what I've been wanting to say.

I'll post it even if you tell me I can't though just so ya know :)

Hi, new to the board and a lifelong Browns fan. Season tickets since 1978.

I just wanted to stop by and say sorry, I know exactly how you feel. Kroenke is a modern day Modell. Not telling the truth to a great fan base, and lining his pockets on the way out.

To me, the NFL is failing it's fan bases. Greed is the winner as usual.

I've been to St. Louis a couple of times, and once was for a Browns-Rams game in 2007. Had a great time in a great sports city.

And I personally just want to say thank you for the time you have put in and that I understand this sentiment. You take care Coach and come back any time. We may not have always agreed but that is the spice of life. Cheers to you.

First point here - the NFL has done it for several of its owners. It is anything but unprecedented.

Second point - once the CVC decided to ignore the top tier clause - and it IMO was a well known sticking point, what effort would have exhausted all efforts? Probably the biggest issue in all of this was that clause. The clause got the Rams to St Louis. The clause was the biggest issue at the first time line in 2005. Taking the clause off the table would have meant that Stan would have had to pay $700 million plus that according to the clause would be on the CVC for a stadium that still wouldn't qualify as top tier.

I understand the fans in the Lou not liking this and hating on Stan. But what owner would have voided that clause? What owner would sign off on paying $700 million that he wasn't obligated to pay for a venue he wouldn't even own? A 30 - 2 kind of showed how many would have. And Richardson only voted no in my opinion as a show of solidarity.

Sorry but when the application says that anyone accepting this proposal would send them to financial ruin - it's true. In business, you only have the contracts and what they actually say. By giving up that $700 million, there is not an NFL owner alive that could absorb that kind of bad business maneuver except maybe Paul Allen who simply makes money on the past.

Maybe Stan could absorb that hit somehow but I can almost guarantee you that the other owners looked at it and realized they couldn't if the shoe was on THEIR foot.

I know all of the LA fan are ecstatic that the Rams are back but you should feel dirty about it and you still have a horrid human being as an owner.

I don't think it's fair to say that LA fans should feel dirty about having the team back, just as it wouldn't be fair to say St Louis fans should feel dirty about having them in the first place.

none of them are saints. not the owners, not the league office, not the administrators. its quite the opposite. If they are talking they are lying. The Raiders will probably end up in STL just because of the fact that Davis is outright denying it so hard.

Apparently not only did the NFL know about it, Kroenke was actually encouraged by the league to buy the land for a stadium... The entire thing was in the works for quite a while, and St Louis knew for quite some time as well (evident by the private e-mails between Peacock and others before officially being announced.
