First off..... I hate the Squawks. But I will admit my respect for Sherman. Yes, he holds, cheats, grabs......but that is just it....if you ain't cheatin'...... But it's a tough injury. I feel bad for him.

And yes...we've been fortunate in that regard thus far. It's about damned time too.
I

And I agree with you, but I prefer to beat a team at their best, however, Rams deserve a few breaks after years of not getting them.

Now if only Pete Carroll can sprain his jaw while chewing 10 packs of gum while pacing the sideline. :sneaky:

Dick Sherman on Achilles: When it goes, it goes
Posted by Josh Alper on November 10, 2017

Seahawks cornerback Dick Sherman ruptured his Achilles on Thursday night, ending his season several weeks after initially injuring the Achilles.

Sherman explained after the game why he kept playing through the injury even though he knew there was a risk of the more serious injury happening as a result.

“I knew what was happening,” Sherman said, via the team’s website. “It has been bothering me all season. It was one of those things you just had to play through as long as you can, then when it goes, it goes. … Because every game matters in this league, every game matters.

You go out there and play for your teammates. Go out there and try to give them all you’ve got, because they deserve it. That’s what I did; I wanted to give my team the best chance to win. We were kind of beat up at corner anyway, didn’t want to put the young guys in a hard spot.”

Sherman, who was wearing a lime green suit that he said was “a lot cooler” before he got hurt, said that he will do everything he can to help those young guys by making “sure they get all the coaching points.” Jeremy Lane, Shaquil Griffin and Justin Coleman are the guys he’ll be helping out and the Seahawks will be hoping safety Earl Thomas is back on the field soon to provide further assistance.

Too many posters seem to be a little too close to "happy" about this. It's bad karma. I believe the football gods are real and, like Santa Claus, are watching you.

There's absolutely nothing good about an athlete facing a potentially career-ending injury, no matter what team he plays for.

Earl Thomas is amazing, but those two feed off each other. The Seahawks can use Thomas to protect the other CB because they trust Sherman. Without Sherman, Thomas is going to be stretched thin. The Seahawks were already having issues with their pass defense. This is huge.

This is what I am thinking too jrry . Does work in favor of this McVay passing offense & Goff IMO. It will be a rough cold damp game in Seattle on 12-17-17 but the issues with their corners might give us the edge & avenue to capture the NFC west crown away from them on their own loud turf with all their crazy fans looking on.....I can only imagine the shock to their fans:shocked::shocking:........

Completely agree. People may not realize it but Arizona is already done and Seattle was already falling apart. When you build your team around your secondary it’s short lived those guys can beging to decline at an early age. Sherman’s days of dominance have come to a close. The stats already bare it out.

1 super bowl is all the LOB will ever
Win mark my words.

Teams that build around the QB are the ones that build the lasting Dynasty’s. And With Goff at 23 we are sitting pretty for many years to come.

I am not sure Garoppolo will be any good at all but we will soon find out.

One thing we know, Jared can lead a #1 offense in all the NFL. And he hasn’t even played a full season yet.

It’s looking like a Rams Strangelhold on the division for years to come, much like the way Green Bay or the Patriots do.

Don’t forget the Shecocks still have Wilson...so I wouldn’t be quick to count them out because to your point, they have a QB to build around. What I don’t know is whether or not they can rebuild a secondary AND an offensive line in one offseason. But...well, we did, right? Their cap is tight and they have aging players...but I don’t see them becoming the doormat the Cards are becoming all that soon.

Regardless, we are better positioned with young talent and superior coaching so I could care less whether Seattle can remain better than average (though I would so enjoy their implosion of it comes).

.

Nobody remembers the whiners beat up on a crap division for a decade. They only remember they won. The rams need to take advantage of any lucky breaks they get.

.
This is a great post. Take nothing away from Montana and Young but the old NFC West of the Rams, Saints and Falcons were a hot mess for years and the Whiners definitely cleaned up like bandits every year.....for years.
Heh.....before first kickoff of the year you could peg 6 or mebbe 5 wins to Joe and Bill's team.
It's just the way it was, ya'll

I don't. He's a loudmouth that thinks he's the answer to player issues.

It's not like this guy is the first player to ever get on IR.

Where was all the sympathy when every other player got on IR? Hell, even JJ Watt didn't get this much and he's 100X more humble than Dick Sherman.

Aside from the Thunder, OKC is a crap hole. Haven't been there in 10 years.

I miss the simple life of Tulsa.

I am probably in the minority, but I want to beat a healthy Seattle. I don’t want to hear them say “Yeah, but we weren’t healthy” when we beat them next time we play each other. We are good enough to beat them, we should have beaten them last time we played. All we can do now is beat the holy crap out of them. So be it. :sneaky:

I could give a flying fornication about what they say a la "we weren't healthy". Do you think they gave a sh!t when they beat the Rams at the dome in Kellen Clemens first start after Bradford went down with his first knee injury? How about all the times they beat us with guys like Quinn, etc. out with injury? Or during our annual re-shuffled OL due to injuries phase which seemed to go on forever?

Screw that. I don't care if they are healthy and I don't care if they whine about it if we beat them when not healthy. Neither they nor any other team's fanbase gave two sh!ts when they beat an unhealthy Rams team, and they sure wouldn't listen to injuries as an excuse. I'm not going to listen to them whine about it now that the tables are turned.

Next man up or STFU.

Oh, and if they are down ... I hope the Rams pile on and kick the holy crap out of them in Seattle. Goff, 5 TD's and 400 yards in a rout ...

Regardless of the sentiments on Sherman, the Seahags are a lesser team today than they were yesterday. Does this injury end their season? I would think not. The kid, Griffin, is playing pretty good on the back end. They are down but not out. I surely don't feel sorry for them. It's a good time to kick them while they are down, repeatedly I might add! :sneaky:

What Seahawks fans are saying:

http://www.seahawks.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=141807&sid=4fe79dbefdb3fcb0461b194aa8fde233

This really sucks, big blow. I really dont think they make any huge playoff run without him. Kam is banged up too. The window is closing, defense is aging and guys are getting injury prone because of all these seasons playing at this level.

Might seem like an overreaction but its true, window is closing fast. Sherman will probably never be the same again, cornerbacks always fall off around his age and the injury will just make that worse.
---------
Huge injury. We could be in trouble big time now.
---------
There goes another year of our Super Bowl window. No chance this team wins a championship without him.
----------
No replacing Sherm by far.
----------
Offense (Russell Wilson) is gonna have to carry now.
----------
HUGE blow for the team and our season just hit a major road block. As much as I want to think we will be able to manage, I just can't see it. Offense needs to pick pick it up, but I just don't see that happening and now we hit the toughest part of our schedule with high powered offenses and we lose our best CB in Sherm? Game over.
-----------
Our season is over. Atlanta of all teams possible will be the lucky ones. I hate Atlanta and Quinn and hope New Orleans kill both of them.

Sucks to die a slow death rather then something like the 40ers. We are going to be something like 9-7 or 7-9 and in utter purgatory.
----------
I don't see much of us going far the rest of the way. Drew Stanton picked us apart at end. Like David Carr said "defensive scheme is vanilla." We have to face multiple high powered offenses.

Window is closing as much as I wish it'd stay open. Age catches up to everyone.
------------
I think tonight was the end of an era.
-----------
completely sucks. when he went down the game stopped mattering. to be optimistic maybe he will be wally pipped. I highly doubt it but one can pray.

with that stretch of Eagles, Jags, Rams, Cowboys not to mention the Falcons next week I don't know how they make it through with more than 2 wins. a wild card spot may be possible, division winner is a stretch, and 1 or 2 seed is completely lost now.
----------
I think this torpedoes any Super Bowl hopes for us this year. Just hope this wasn't the last time we saw Richard Sherman in a Seahawk uniform
----------
this is a monumental injury for this team. Only losing Earl or Russ for the year would compare IMO.

If they overcome this and make a run .. I'd be floored.

I think Russell Wilson is the most impactful player than Sherman on the Sea Hawks. He's elusive and can score on the run. Rams need to put the hurt on him every and each time he gets out of that pocket.
