I think Sammy is licking his chops against this Dallas secondary. If they all play, someone (more than one likely) is going to have a very good day catching the ball.

The Rams had 10 days between games, which was good news for their wide receiving corps. Los Angeles got a “big boost” when Tavon Austin and Sammy Watkins were cleared from concussion protocol and returned to practice Thursday.

Both were full participants.

Austin and Watkins will play against the Cowboys on Sunday, Sean McVay said via Rich Hammond of the Orange County Register, with the coach calling it “a big boost for us.”

Watkins made six catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns a week ago against the 49ers, leaving in the fourth quarter. Austin had three carries for 14 yards before leaving at nearly the same time.

Watkins has 13 catches for 194 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Austin has one catch for 7 yards and eight carries for 33 yards.

Safety Lamarcus Joyner (hamstring) remained out of practice, and center John Sullivan (hip) was limited.

Head injuries are nothing to take lightly. Hope he's ok to play but health first.

Roll with Kupp, Woods, Reynolds and lean on the TE's a little more. Cowboys LB's are mediocre at covering TE's anyway.

Gurley can pick up slack in the passing game, so can Austin. They can make some changes if they have to rest or sit Watkins.

I know there are those that have doubts. But I fully expect Tavon to have a game that explodes. I don't expect said game to be a consistent thing. But I do think there is going to be a game where he just explodes. There may be more than one, but there'll be a game.

These Cowboys are so depleted at linebacker I've been considering picking up Gerald Everett in fantasy.

If I'm the Cowboys Sean Lee is not playing. Hamstrings are something you need to let heal.

Rams should be priming their Tight ends to have a let's get on track with our block game. Lots of 2/3 tight end sets, run blocking, play action, roll outs, little slip outs, screen game, end around, etc.

Actually just typing that above I think the end around game could be a big factor in this game. Dallas looked to play that heavy DB set with only 3 DL. An interesting statistic would be to see how many times Tavon has actually won on the edge with the end around. It has to be an insane success story. I'm trying to recall many times of him being tackled on that edge on an end around. The guy is just so quick, he should have had the touchdown aside from that horse coller tackle.

I didn't catch this as I was going through this thread.

It's true what you say.

But the available pass catching options that the Rams have can still win the game if Watkins is out. Even if Austin is out too.

Gurley by himself could help enough. If they got him 4-5 more passes he can get over 50 yards and a TD most likely. That leaves just a little slack left for the other guys to pick up.

Gurley having a big game would be timely LOL.

At this point, I'll be happy if Tavon just doesnt screw up the punt returns. Make a few catches for bonus points. I like the jet sweeps to distract the opposing defense.

Everett & Kupp will be afterthoughts for the Dallas defense, think the Cowboys are gonna get a big serving of "wow look at these Rams' rookies."

Getting Webster back is going to be huge. Sucks that we lose Joyner but let him heal up Davis will be ok for a game or so and let's hope we have him for Seattle. Webster and Tru at the corners again is gonna be real nice to see, I'm pretty happy about that.

I'm sure those jet sweep actions are helping to hold the backside and all, but teams aren't keying on Tavon like they used to, not even close. So yeah it would be cool to see Tavon go the F off and for the love of F take good care of the ball on punt returns.

I'd tell him that if he muffs another punt someone else will be doing it. I'm serious. Rams cannot afford to give up short fields vs a Dallas offense that has won what, eight in a row at home? Meh. Just take care of the ball man.
