Well, I thought there was practice today but Watkins was "limited."
So I don't think he's fully cleared yet.
Maybe today was non-contact...
Here is a simplified version. In a nutshell, it seems that Watkins is on track to play. He's in stage 3 if 6. Each state takes 24 hours.

Stage 1: No activity! This mean what it sounds like, no physical (and sometimes cognitive) activity. No exercise, no staring at phones or computer screens until ALL signs and symptoms are resolved to zero. When the athlete has complete resolution of all signs and symptoms, they may enter...

Stage 2: Light aerobic exercise. This is usually limited to walking on a treadmill, elliptical, or stationary bike while keeping the heart rate below 70% of the patient's max. The idea is to put some stress on the patient, without eliciting any signs or symptoms. If the athlete is able to complete the exercise for about 15-20 minutes without signs and symptoms returning, they may enter...

Stage 3: Sport-specific exercise. This essentially means exercise that is more dynamic and related to their specific activity, but doing it without team members present. Running backs can take hand offs and work on cutting and running, wide receivers can go on routs or catch balls, QBs can throw, etc. We are putting more stress on the athlete and seeing once again if their signs and symptoms return. If they complete this exercise, they can move on to...

Stage 4: Non-contact training drills. This essentially is a full return to practice with the team WITHOUT ANY CONTACT. The player can go about practice as normal, but usually with a special (different colored) jersey so they will not partake in any hitting drills. QBs usually have a jersey like this at every practice so players know not to hit them. If the player completes this stage, they move on to...

Stage 5: Full-contact practice. The athlete is free to go about practice 100%. All training and hitting is allowed. If they complete this stage then they are ready for...

Stage 6: Return to play! The athlete is eligible to play in games with no restrictions.

Each stage is usually a 24 hour time period, so the athlete would come in the morning for training/therapy, and if they complete the stage, they just come back the next morning. If at any stage the athlete has a return of concussive like signs or symptoms, they must drop down to the previous stage after a 24 hour rest period

Guy we really need is Webster. Watkins is important too, but I'm a lot more worried about the defense in this one.

If Goff tears up the Cowboys' defense he's gonna get a LOT of air time next week. Not because the Boys' defense is anything special, but just cause the media are all over their nuts. Could be his coming out party. Definitely a huge game for him from that perspective.

Based upon practice picture posted by @Redding, it would seems he's in at least stage 4 then (w no special jersey).

Based on where he was grabbing and where his ice pack was, it looked like a low hamstring. Those can be easier to come back from than a high-hammy in some situations, but it really did have the look of a multi-week injury. There are many players across the league dealing with multi-week hamstring injuries right now. Corey Davis rushed back and now he's been ruled out for a second game.
Good news, potentially.

Sean Lee has not practiced this week due to his hamstring. (y)

a. A player returns to baseline status of symptoms and neurologic exam, including cognitive and balance functions.

  • i. Repeat neuropsychological evaluation is performed before return to practice or play with interpretation of the data by the team neuropsychology consultant. The team neuropsychology consultant reports the findings back to the team physician.
b. A graduated exercise challenge, followed by a gradual return to practice and play, is initiated when the player returns to baseline status. The RTP protocol following a concussion follows a stepwise process to be outlined in the NFL Head, Neck and Spine Committee’s Return to Participation Protocol.

c. Prior to return to practice or play, not only must the team physician clear the player, but the Independent Neurological Consultant with expertise in concussion must also evaluate and clear the player for return to practice and play.

d. A player may be considered for return to practice and play only after the player has returned to baseline status with rest and exertion, has repeat neuropsychological testing which is interpreted by the team neuropsychology consultant as back to baseline levels of functioning, and has completed the Return to Participation Protocol referenced above and is cleared by the Team Physician and the Independent Neurological Consultant.
I see no mention of a time frame for the protocol

I have seen 3 incidents in the past 2 mos in games I have been at and have followed the progress of the athletes. They are all back playing with 2 + weeks being the soonest return.
Have you seen many that are back-in the 1st game after going threw the protocol!?

It's all relative to how they respond to resting each day.

Los Angeles Rams At Dallas Cowboys: Initial Injury Report Details Concerns For Week 4 Road Trip
Eight names dot the Rams’ initial injury report for Week 4.
by 3k

The Los Angeles Rams are heading to Texas to take on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. In doing so, they’ve got some crucial injury concerns to play out over the week of practice as detailed in the initial report:

LA Rams Week 4 Injury Report - DNP=Did not practice

Name/ POS/ Injury/ Wed. Status
Malcolm Brown/ RB/ Hamstring/ Full
Kayvon Webster/ CB/ Shoulder/ Full
Tavon Austin/ WR/ Concussion/ Limited
Sammy Watkins/ WR/ Concussion/ Limited
Connor Barwin/ OLB/ Rest/ DNP
Lamarcus Joyner/ S/ Hamstring/ DNP
John Sullivan/ C/ Hip/ DNP
Andrew Whitworth/ T/ Rest/ DNP

For one, it’s heartening to not see TE Gerald Everett here. Given that he was listed as Questionable on the final injury report going into Week 3 and limited in his game action, I wouldn’t have been surprised to see him listed as a full or limited participant. That he’s not even included is perhaps an indication that he’s fully ready to go already.

Like Everett, RB Malcolm Brown and CB Kayvon Webster were also listed as Questionable. Unlike Everett, they were both on the seven-man inactive list in Week 3. So to see them listed isn’t necessarily problematic, especially as both were full participants.

We’ve got two on rest in OT Andrew Whitworth and OLB Connor Barwin.

Then you’ve got the four names of concern to track. WR Sammy Watkins and WR Tavon Austin are dealing with the concussion protocol as limited participants. Both DB Lamarcus Joyner and C John Sullivan were fully excluded from practice with hamstring and hip issues, respectively. How these four progress through tomorrow’s practice and into the weekend will be the determining factor.

That none of the injuries sustained from Week 3 brought any calls for lengthier outages is perhaps encouraging. But should either Joyner or Sullivan get to Friday without categorical improvement, we may have our first legit long-term injury concern of the year.

Dallas Cowboys Injury Report

Name/ POS/ Injury/ Wed. Status
Chidobe Awuzie/ CB/ Hamstring/ Limited
Nolan Carroll/ CB/ Concussion/ Limited
Anthony Hitchens/ LB/ Knee/ Limited
Sean Lee/ LB/ Hamstring/ DNP
Stephen Paea/ DT/ Knee/ DNP

The clear cause for concern on their side is MLB Sean Lee as a full holdout today.

Isn't Stephen paea their starting tackle too?

Would rather keep him 100% for next week if there's uncertainty in further damages to him. Should be good reps for our other receiving options to step up
