Well, thankfully, McVay was right & so was John Matthew Stafford!

So, unfortunately not all of us are blessed with Kyler Murray's ability to see things before they happen, right? Ought to start calling that guy Precog.

But seriously, Staff and Kupp becoming breakfast buds and the super chemistry they developed weren't things too many people foresaw. Without that on field connection things probably would've been a little different.

I blame my initial lukewarm response on too many Stat Padford memes, no game study, and disgust for the Lions theft of the Kings' goal horn:

I knew Stafford was the perfect fit. Easily worth all those picks. I knew for a fact he would take us to the Superbowl. The trade was a slam dunk, and I had no doubt.

Every statement you just made is exactly how I personally felt.

This is the thread that is really interesting to me

@MachS won that thread in my opinion. He was full on in support of the trade for Stafford. I laughed so hard when he posted "sorry you have to sell your Goff jersey now." Here's a quote of that from the thread:

"Sorry you have to sell your Goff jersey now. Fact is we got a more talented QB. Do yourself a favor, go pull up some Stafford film and acquaint yourself."

The QB knowing is a Surface fleet thing, you wouldn’ understand!

On November 1st, 2020, (after Miami game) I penned a thread on my Rams Forum titled "We Need A New Quarterback." Had to deal with the head-in-the-sand Goff lovers telling me how crazy I was. When we were lucky enough that the idiot Lions took the Horrendous Goff Contract off our hands, not to mention below-average Quarterback Goff himself, while also acquiring Top 10 Quarterback Stafford, yes, I absolutely KNEW our fortunes were changed for the (far) better. And it doesn't take a genius. Really, anyone that didnt know it at the time should be ashamed of themselves

Well, I wouldn’t go quite that far. I had no confidence that Jared could get us over the top and win a Super Bowl for us. But Matthew had never won a playoff game, so that fact was always there for me until he won vs the Cardinals and Tampa Bay. He always had guts and a mean streak, killer instinct. He got to prove it on the biggest stage…

That's where a lot of people were on this board. I was still of the opinion that Goff was salvageable, although with hindsight it's easy to see that no salvaging was going to happen here, as his football relationship with McVay was irreparably broken by then. But given that Stafford didn't even have a playoff win at the time, I wasn't at all convinced he was the answer, and neither were a lot of the people who wanted to move on from Goff, like yourself.

Well, we were busy finalizing a firing solution to put a torpedo into you broadside and send your target ass down to Davey Jones locker ;)

Really, anyone that didnt know it at the time should be ashamed of themselves

Ashamed? No, ashamed is what someone should be when they get caught blowing winos so that they have enough money to buy crack. Having a different opinion on a football player - any player, Goff and Stafford included - is nothing to be ashamed about. There were people on this board with much better football acumen than me that wanted Goff kept around and just as many with more football smarts that didn't want Stafford irrespective of their opinion of Goff. And not a damned one of them should be ashamed about where they stood at the time.

Get over yourself.

Lecture me all you want. Have at it. I knew we needed to move on from Goff. Couldn't understand anyone that felt the contrary. I stand by that.

BrooklynRam. I believe what you are experiencing is good ‘ol “new guy” orientation. Coming in brash and judgmental only adds gas to the fire. I’m fairly new myself but my recommendation is keep your strong opinion but respect the elders. Or not and have fun with the wrath.
