Well, that's the point really. Why would the Raiders let THAT GUY go? It just doesnt make any sense, for them. He's got a good shot a OROY. Has an OROY ever been traded the following season?

I'd say Sammy Watkins has that in hand already and Bridgewater probably beats him unless the Raiders win out IMO,on a better team he'd probably have a shot.
I think we have at least 2 and maybe three to four All Rookie Team ,Grob, and Donald are IMO locks ,Gaines, good shot and Joiner and Mason possibles. If he caught fire Westbrooks

That's why I posted that it's not likely to happen.

Unless they really love Marriota or Winston.

Not sure about Watkins, only 7 catches (17 targets) for 59 yards in last 2 games combined. May have hit the rookie wall. Carr has been pretty productive all year. Agree though that they'd have to win a couple more games. After next week that is....

People in this thread are doing an awful lot of projecting what they would do or what they think is logical. But at this point, the proposal on the table (trading for Carr) cannot be ruled out on those factors. Someone on the draft board conjectured that if Oakland cleans house this offseason, firing the coach and GM (a very distinct possibility), the new coach/GM might want to go get their guy rather than go with Carr, and they will be in the position to do it. Maybe they will, maybe they won't, but it's a possibility that can't be ruled out at this time. Whether or not we think it makes sense to stick with Carr is irrelevant to the discussion, it's what the coaching staff and front office that is in place in Oakland next spring thinks about it and what they plan to do.

I saw this same thing leading up to the trade that netted the Redskins RGIII and us a bunch of draft picks. So many people said the most we would ever get was one extra first round pick from the deal. They didn't consider the makeup of Daniel Snyder, who has an almost pathological need for winning the offseason and for making a big splash. A friend of mine and I discussed this before the trade went down and both of us agreed that if nothing else, Snyder would drive up the price of our #2 pick by making a huge offer based on his makeup ... and sure enough he did.

Logically, if I were making the decisions in Oakland, I'd keep Carr and try to build around him. But I'm not, and there is at this time no guarantee that whoever is making such decisions for them will think this way.

I wouldn't count Benjamin out either.
Never mind. Different division.

And to buttress your point Watkins hasn't practiced this week, maybe more importantly the Bills haven't seen their trainers either , and they will be facing the Jets who have practiced and will get as many additional days as Buff. gets altogether . Orton could be in trouble and and without him I'd say Sammy could drop more, still he's my bet for OROY and Bridgewater to be the all rookie QB

Interesting QB battle. Carr has the numbers, Bridgewater has the wins. Bortles in fact has similar numbers to Bridgewater.
I havent been a big fan of Carr, but last night comeback win was pretty impresive. You'd have thought a winless team would fold up like a tent after giving up the lead in 4Q
That drive Oakland put on was masterful. Carr ran for a 1st down on 4th and 1 and a 3rd and 1, and converted another 3rd and long.
After we crush him next week I'll give him a longer look. lol

Al Davis' zombie has been purged from the facility and clerics guard the Raiders camp 24/7. The Raiders are finally free.

Yes but his spawn is running the show now, and as as illustrated in this image he is also capable of making very bad decisions.........everyone knows you should never try to cut your own hair.

Very good post and my views exactly! There will more and likely be a new HC and FO next year and that means if they deem Carr as not 'their guy' then he will become available at a decent price. Something like we got a Marshall Faulk for or SHOULD have traded for a Brandon Marshall or a Anquan Boldin for a relatively cheap price to obtain a good production player.

Would love it if we traded up for Winston then he continues being the baby door that he is, it would set our franchise back to mid 00s level.
Haha The dude got some wheels but he has a Jamarcus Russel and RGKnee written all over him... no thank you to a QB going to be sidelined early for running the ball when she should of been throwing it.
Given that both these two valid points are about the same guy, PASS. I want no part of Winston. Sure, he could be great... but the odds are a lot better that he'll be a disaster.

Also, "baby door" remains quite the amusing euphemism for the filter.

Hey gents!
Just finished watching the game tonight like a lot of you have. What do you think of Carr? Dude is a beast and young!

I think most of us can state as we sit right now we obviously are a steady QB play away from the playoffs. (And maybe a few interior OL) If our lead wasn't blown by 6 defensive touchdowns where we had a lead we'd be sitting at 6-4 or 7-3.

Obviously I'm not a FO guy that makes personal decisions but how about we make a trade for Derek Carr?

Trade a second, Langford and Zac Stacy. Or something along those lines?! Dude has decent to good arm strength and the biggest thing is he'll be under the rookie scale.

They are going to be poised to take a top QB prospect anyways and would be grit from the extra pick, and players plus their own picks.
Anyone feel the same way or where we would be able to put together a package for him? ( not a first!)

P.s. Having Carr, a restructured Bradford, and either Hill or Davis going into next season would be ideal plus very salary cap friendly!

Why would the Raiders trade Carr?

The only off season trade that the rams should make is to trade up to get Wiston. Snead/Fisher did a great job of getting a lot of draft picks and finding good talent with them. Now they should focus on getting quality over quantity.

Wiston or bust!

NFL scout: Florida State QB Jameis Winston is 'a fraud'

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston might have a couple more years of college eligibility to gain some much-needed maturity, but NFL scouts aren't waiting until then to begin forming their opinions of him.

    Winston's off-the-field incidents

Incident (Nov. 2012): Stopped at gunpoint
Winston detained by police at gunpoint, and investigated for damage at apartment complex from BB gun fight.

Incident (Dec. 2012): Sexual assault allegation
Winston was not charged with sexual assault after being under investigation in a case from Dec. 7, 2012.

Incident (April 2014): Shoplifting crab legs
Cited for shoplifting crab legs from a grocery store.

Incident (Sept. 2014): Obscene comments in public
Suspended for shouting vulgar remark in FSU's student union.

Incident (Oct. 2014): Report: Police obstructed probe
Investigation reveals that FSU and Tallahassee police hid sexual assault allegations.

Incident (Oct. 2014): FSU looks into autographs
Florida State investigating if Winston accepted money for autographs.
In the wake of his suspension for Saturday's game against Clemson -- levied by the school, not coach Jimbo Fisher, for shouting a vulgar phrase in public -- an NFL scout told NFL Media's Albert Breer that the Seminoles' third-year sophomore is a fraud, and left no doubt about whether Winston's issues at FSU have damaged his future stock for the NFL draft.

"It'll hurt him significantly," said the area scout, who is assigned to Florida State, per Breer. "Especially with all the stuff going on in the league. This may force him to stay another year to clean up his image. He's a fraud. You can't believe anything he says, because he keeps doing the same things over and over. In my mind, there are night-and-day differences between (Johnny) Manziel's and his character concerns. Winston has some serious issues."

Added an AFC college scouting director, "It just adds to his issues, and he's only been in college two years and a month. Lots of maturity issues, but also criminal."

Winston was investigated in a sexual assault case last year, but did not face charges. Florida State is currently conducting a Title IX investigation into the incident. Winston was cited for shoplifting crab legs from a Tallahassee, Fla., grocery store in April.

As a third-year sophomore, Winston would be eligible for the 2015 NFL Draft if he decided to turn pro after this season. However, indications are that he will stay in college through next year and enter the draft in 2016 or, at the latest, 2017. Winston is on track to have his college degree on or before the end of the 2015-2016 academic year, and has said earning a degree is something he wants to do before leaving FSU.

Winston won the Heisman Trophy and a national title with the Seminoles last season.
