Keep STL out of it
Why? 80% of the crap ones work for the St Louis Post Dispatch? Has nothing to do with a people, has everything to do with the local sports journalism.

I think right tackle is a legitimate concern. Overall I hope Kromer/Sullivan/Whitworth/Jamon, and some sustained health throughout the year that doesn't test our shaky depth, meet the same success as Callahan/Scherf/Moses/Long did for McVay in D.C.

But yeah not familiar with Gordon but he sounds like another one of these Support-a-removed-franchise/Cry about-getting-burned-by-franchise-removal geniuses.

Jeff Gordon has a negative slant towards everything. He's negative towards the Cards and Blues as well. I don't listen to him or Bernie; as far as I'm concerned, they both need to take chill pills.

I'm not sure why you all have your panties in a wad over this. He was honest. What did you want him to say? The team sucks until they start winning games. Period. LOL

With a title of "fear not, the rams remain horrendous" the guy is bitter, not honest. It's one thing to say, yeah, the stats show they HAVE SUCKED, but it's a whole different story to say, they remain horrendous before the season begins and after the the best rams offseason in a long, long time, and maybe the best of any team this year. He doesn't just have sand in the vag, his pussy straight up stinks.

When you say things like " a place like STL" that's disparaging and disrespectful there are plenty of journalists in LA that has a lot of negative things to say about the Rams too. Hell I don't like a lot of the things the reporters are saying about the Rams here in STL but keep your ire towards the reporter and don't say things like a place like STL

Most fans that follow the Rams now, have experienced bitterness towards a Ram's owner. I despised Georgia F and the Lou fans despise Stan K.

The thing with Gordo is that the Rams were a team that he wrote about occasionally before the move. He was more a Cardinals and Blues guy, than a Ram's guy. he never seemed to have a deep knowledge about the team, even with his Gordo chats. Now he's Mr Sandy Vagina writing about his 3rd favorite team from a few years ago, like a spurned ex...and it's probably all fake cause he really doesn't care except to meet an editors deadline with a cut 'n' paste, hate article.

Bradford and his clown car full of bad OCs and surrounding talent is not a good reference. And that is important because success at QB is about much more than just the QB. Truth is that to what extent Goff improves and how soon will come down to some variables that are outside his control, and all of which are night and day difference between what he has and what Sam had, and I say that because I believe Goff has talent, he now has the coaching, and take a look at this year's team vs what Sam had...

I think this OL is potentially better, now that they have a bona fide LT and leader in that room. Goff won't be counting to two in his head on every single snap wrt his blindside. There is also better depth, no doubt in my mind on that one.

I think the WR corps has more talent that fits the scheme than what Sam had. Woods is a really solid wideout Jared can depend on, there are a couple year 2 kids that seem to be coming around, and the draft brought in a couple more and one of those two is extremely polished, big, and has great hands. TEs are moreso long on talent with young players, but there is talent and hands and most importantly "fit" there.

Gurley is potentially an elite back, another talent level that those previous Rams squads didn't offer to Bradford.

And lastly coaching. McVay is a cut above anyone that Bradford had. It's not even close.

And I'm not making excuses for Sam here, God knows I've given the guy a hard time here on the board on many occasions. But it's the truth that there is more actual talent on this roster surrounding Goff. So I don't know that it's wise for us to put a cap on what they can do in year one, simply because the rare teachers of the game do have an ability to impact a roster right out the gate. We can list what happened to Sam, or we can see what Martz did in installing his, what, 600 page playbook in one camp. The best coordinators in the game are also the best teachers. Teaching plus talent can do some good things.

My point is more that you have to be patient and let the coaching and QB grow together. Sam had better OCs than Goff had last year - Shurmur and McDaniels were both excellent OCs, although McD trying to shoehorn in his crazy wide-open scheme with no preseason was immensely stupid - but none of 'em stuck around long enough for Bradford to really jive.

McVay being an offensive-minded head coach should help, because any OC turnover will be less impactful since the new guy will be operating McVay's established offense.

Bradford's OLs were... up and down. Saffold was really good as a rookie, but Jason Smith should be Bradford's go-to curse word (although TJ Clemmings is probably replacing it). Whitworth and Sullivan will help Goff a ton... finally a real center, which the Rams have needed since, uh, maybe since the era of the Donut Bros.

The WR corps is a big ??? to me. I have no idea what to expect out of any of them. I like Woods as a possession guy, never liked Austin and the rest are rookies/2nd year guys. The measurables are there. Kupp may be a nice pickup.

I'm not ready to say Gurley is better than SJax. Jackson spent so many years as practically the only NFL-caliber player on the Rams' offense that it's hard for me to compare the two.

He could be, and again, having an offensive-minded HC will make it a lot easier to transition between coordinators if the need arises. I think Bradford would have been really good had Shurmur stayed on beyond 2010. The continuity would have been a huge bonus - as evidenced by his performance under Shurmur in Minnesota.

Don't disagree at all, I'm just saying that the most important thing will be patience and allowing your young HC and young QB to grow together over the next several years. Don't be disappointed if it's not a Martz-Warner-esque turnaround... those don't happen much, and holding that as the bar for success hurts a team's ability to build something for the long run.

Agree completely, with both of you. Hey look.....I just wrote a Jeff Gordon "article"!!!! ^^^^

Like the state...we gotta show them....

14 years....we deserve all the criticism....I used to laugh at cubs fans...niner fans...raider fans...hell, I give it to chargers fans too....I ALWAYS RAG ON CLIPPERS FANS.

Well that part's just fine. Please, feel free to continue.

The Rams could have moved to a domed stadium on Mars instead of going back to the Coliseum (I hear the view near Olympus Mons is quite nice) and still have more of a home in LA than the Clippers. The Rams will always be our first team, and they'll always be our first champions.

Clippers, Chargers, "LA" Raiders -- throw 'em all the scrapheap. They're the only major american franchises to ever move into a market that was already occupied by another team.

I agree. We need to treat all the remaining St. Louis fans with respect because they're all more loyal fans than say, a guy like me. When the Rams left Los Angeles, I bailed on them. When the Rams left their hometown they stayed loyal.

:peace:

Apparently you've never read Bill Plaschke. He's bad enough to drag the entire LA Times sports staff down to any depth you wish to project. He's indefensible in his blubbery and emotional asshatery.

Yeah there's no reason to make this about STL. Although I will say I never liked the team coverage out there. Gordo was actually the only one I could read, and he was never insightful in the least. Bernie just got worse and worse; he's the kind of sportswriter that is only capable of writing for a winning team and once the move was obvious his stuff was downright venomous.

LA coverage has been ok thus far, and has picked up after they hired McVay. Honestly I am starting to realize the impact a coach has on the press mindset since they added him. The LA guys love him and rightly so. And going back to Fish, I'll admit that maybe it was painful covering that team since he gave them nothing. But still, never did like the coverage.

Being that Missouri minimum wage is going down, perhaps Gordon's latest haircut has him in a foul mood???
