I havent read thru the 5 pages of posts yet but going to give my opinion, like it or not

I have stated several times that I am not a good judge of football talent. Put me on a construction site and I can pick out the good ones and the bad ones just by the way they move while working. I know, what does that have to do with Jared Goff...well I'll tell ya.

He doesnt move like a NFL QB. At least in my eyes he doesnt. He is clunky. He reminds me of a young boy learning to dance, looking down at his feet to make sure they land on the footprints on the floor. Not smooth or automatic as he should be.

Sure Goff makes some good throws. and yes, the WR's dropped alot of passes this preseason that affected #16 stat line. But there was also some horrific throws and plays that a NUMBER 1 PICK should not have made.

Not saying he is a bust, going to be a bust, or anything like that. Just saying in my untrained eyes he has a looooooong way to go to become an elite NFL QB

Goff is a very talented QB prospect. One of my favorites to come out in recent history. That being said I had a major problem with the trade up. For starters the receivers suck and they have sucked since 2007/8. They didn't sign anybody and they traded away so many draft picks that it's going to be hard to fill that need in the 2016 draft as well as next year's draft. So now you got a QB with no weapons. Second I don't think Goff fits Fisher at all. Fit matters. I remember Warner talking about how difficult it was to play for the Giants because they were so conservative and his game was taking risks and pushing it down the field. Fisher wants to play it safe and run the ball early and often. That's not what Goff did in college. So it will take time to adjust to that. In my mind Fisher either should have been fired or they should have hired a real OC that had the power to run the offense the way they saw fit. We placed so much blame on Schotty and Cig, but the offense won't look any different this year and that's because of Fisher.

All that being said, I think you need to start Goff game one. Keenum is a nice backup QB, but he isn't a starter. He leaves too many plays on the field. With Keenum as the starter the best case scenario is 7-9. Put Goff out there. Let him take his lumps. Let him learn and grow. That will be much more beneficial to him and the team long term then have him be the third string QB where he gets almost no reps.

It's not necessarily a bad situation to have a guy like Goff as our 3rd qb.
Remember when guys like Keith Null were our last hope?

Keenum has a great command of the offense. The team seems to stand behind him. He can win games.

Mannion has looked pretty good at times as well. He's He's a smart qb that knows the offense.

Goff is an incredible talent. It's nice to be in a situation where we don't have to run him out there before he's ready.
He's going you play this year.....and he's going to have his ups and downs, but he's going to solidify our qb position for years ro come.

I don't see Keenum as a guy that "can win games." Gurley, the Defense and Special teams will win the games, not Keenum and his 100 yard passing games. No need for a QB that throws the ball for three or four yards to WRs that drop the dam ball, when you have a running game that can average 5 or 6 yards and with more of a chance to go the distance. If Goff doesn't play this year, then Fisher wasted those picks and needs to go. He could have picked up a QB later in this draft, and arguably with more physical upside talent, and sat them on the bench for the year. Maybe Fisher is playing games with Kroenke, but if I'm the owner I, would have either given Fisher an extension by now or fire him later for trading the house to sit a QB for the year. With that said, I believe Goff can learn what he needs to from the bench, ie calling plays in the huddle and reading blitzes, getting more comfortable under center, for the first three of four games this year and come in to play better than Keenum just by having a deep ball threat. Defenses will stack the box 8, or 9 deep with Keenum and his four yard arm, and sit on those routes looking for the pick six.

This worries me slightly. I've seen guys like you who can watch a guy and see if he gets it physically or not. I don't have that gift but in my experience when people have it they ain't often wrong.

Don't want to pile on Goff here or cal him a bust before he's even taken a real snap as a pro (that's how early we are remember), but I was instantly worried watching the draft coverage when Steve Mariucci took him to the white board. He told him a story about some old guys playing a play and then instantly tested his recall and whether he was listening. He got it - but only just. I know nothing but I recalled it instantly without even trying. That put an element of doubt in my mind.

I think he's just thinking too much. He's got to stop thinking and just start reacting.

Just making the decision to play Goff this year, because he's a high draft pick would be a poor decision. playing a rookie pocket passer is almost certainly a loosing season.
Keenum is the better QB at the moment. That's who should start.

Here's the thing, I hope he's 3 on the depth chart cause he hasn't gotten a hold of the offense yet, not being used to calling his own plays or even having play calls coming from that college system.

Certainly, starting him at that point or giving him time with the 1's would be counterproductive since he doesn't even know what play he's calling. At least, if that's the case, there's a good shot that he can get up to speed at some point... cause if he knows the offense and he's playing like this, we just wasted a ton of picks.
