1. CB
2. Edge
3. Safety
4. TE

Those 4 stand alone IMO. The OL played well down the stretch, provided they resign the guys they have, I don't see it as a huge need like the above. We have a great track record of later WR picks, I think our scouts have a good eye for talent there.

since i don't know the college players that well i thought it might be fun to see the position that members think we should pick my choice would be the first pick goes for ol tackle 2nd choice goes for ol Guard this with what we already have plus a few late round picks in years to come should take care of the oline for 10 years. Than with 3rd and forth rounders pick edge rushers this should let us move hoecht to defsive end anything to get him out of pass coverage also would like to move brain allen to fb just to get him on the field more. Than we should have a lot of comp pick should get a lb,and rb with the rest of draft going for defence bfield

It's a fun exercise but so hard to do when the quality of the players available may chance the thought process.

Edge first for me, of course, but from what I've seen so far, not sure there's one available there for us that's worth it without a trade.

@ 19 one of the top 3 CB's should be there but you could have as many as 3 or 4 Edges off the board. Three or 4 WR could be gone too so I think they see what comes to them. It is early so this will likely evolve but as we sit this seems to be a pretty common thought in most mocks

OL (wouldn't be surprised for them to pick two or three linemen)
CB (will likely double-dip at this position, if we don't go for free agency)
WR (replacing Robinson/Atwell and, likely, Kupp)
TE (Higbee's injury complicates matters)
EDGE (probably will need depth, but I expect us to sign a big one in free agency)
RB (a similar one to K-Will most likely)
K (need one. Badly).
SAF (likely won't pick one high; not McSnead's MO, and Burgess might've soured the experience)
DL (depth to replace EB4 and Murchison)

Not only that but free agency or a trade. Suppose they sign or acquire Burns? Hell I like the kid from Detroit who was injured and started the 21 day window but inactive today. He played half a year last year and had 8 sacks. If we get an Edge in free agency (significant edge), then we may not draft one too high. Still could draft one but maybe one who drops.

At some point, I want them to take a stud ILB to put along side EJ. Every team in the playoffs seems to have 2 good ILBs.

Totes, draft is so dependent on FA. Hard to really get into it till FA hits first... other than maybe where the strengths of the draft are.

I think it's another year without a good ILB class. (Last years poor class was one of the reasons the Lions took Campbell so high - though that might have been a mistake). The meta in the NFL was devaluing LBs and in both college and NFL to have guys who would be typically safety type physically, playing the LB position now. (We were at the forefront of that with Mark Barron). Now, with the run game re-emerging as a threat on offense and more gap scheme being played, ILB has taken on a bit more significance again.

It's one of the reasons the Rams are looking to extend Jones and not let him go with a cheap draft replacement.

Sorry man! I haven't done a deep dive (let's be honest, it'll be shallow) on the draft yet but that's the word on the street about ILB.

I wouldn't sweat it. Hearing Rams moving Hoecht to ILB this season.

Totally agree, I keep thinking Ogletree,Bobby Wagner type.
—Queen was a LBEr I wanted, but he went earlier than I thought.Still a sideline to sideline type. 230-240 with 4.50-4.60 speed.

Pretty much depends on free agency. But we do need better DB's. Doubt we address all of that in free agency. If we don't sign a legit edge rusher then that would be my choice in the first round. Then DB's and maybe O-line depth.

I'd break it down a bit differently at this point.

Here are the what I see as the top needs, along with where I'd "shop":

Edge Rusher: FA or, if we are unable to sign a top guy, Round 1
Cornerback: Rounds 1-3.
Wide Receiver: Round 1 if a top guy drops. If not, try to find another mid-round gem.
Offensive Tackle: Unless we can get a "franchise guy" in Round 1, roll with A.J. Jackson (RFA)
Offensive Guard: Prefer to sign Dotson, could be FA options (cheaper) if he bolts. Otherwise, day 2 of draft.
Inside LB: mid-rounds of draft.
RB2: mid-rounds of draft.
