Why does this seem like a c0ck teaze? All of a sudden this was the man people were talking about being the possible next HC and people obviously blowing loads over him like bluecoconuts up there...Pipe dream, false alarm?

Probably ends up being nothing. :(

Shaw has his faults. But he also has done an impressive job at Stanford. And he's a very talented offensive-mind.(Gruden protege)

Didn't Jerry Jones do the same thing with Garrett?- when Gailey or Phillips or whoever was there.
He's our new OC.

He's one of CFB's best head coaches and is making millions per year. He's not taking an OC job.

I don't understand why it would mean nothing though. Why the hell would he be there??

He is if he's promised the HC job in 2018.
I know it's bash Fisher week (month, year),
And deserved or not, he's tired, and he's done, and he knows it.
People continue, (in their 20 something wisdom), to sell him and SK short.

He could get a NFL HC job in 2017 if he wants it. He's not going to take an OC job. NFL teams have been trying since 2014 to get him to leave college football.

Yeah, coulda' got Cleveland or Tampa Bay or Tennessee or....

LA's a pretty good gig.

Sometimes intelligent people know when they are not ready. Sometimes they're thoughtful and see the disaster Belicik and Carroll nd McDaniels and and and we're their first time out ...and think, maybe I'll take the VP job for a year and get a feel for the big time.

Just a thought.

No. He could have gotten just about any job he chose over the past 3 years.

You're entitled to your opinion. But my opinion is that hell will freeze over before David Shaw leaves Stanford to become an offensive coordinator here. Unlike most head coach candidates, he already has six years of experience as a head coach. He's also at his alma mater in a job he loves. He won't give that up to be offensive coordinator.

What are the chances that Fisher interviewed his successor because he'll get moved into a front office job at the end of the season and be Snead's boss.

That would be a brilliant move! As long as the new coach is an offensive genius.

Agreed, let alone work for an embattled HC who is on the hotseat. That alone would deter a lot of OC types, if Fish is kept on next season, because many of them have families and uprooting them for a one year gig is not attractive.

On the plus side we have a nice offensive backfield in G&G, but yeah. Shaw's gonna jump for a head coach offer when it's time, i.e. when he gets the right offer with a team that's not in need of a massive rebuild. Rams should be attractive to him in that way.

I hate stories like this. I know nothing about David Shaw but he's clearly highly regarded but all that's happened is he's been seen at the Rams facility.

It could mean anything.

I doubt that Demoff/Enos would be interviewing next year's head coach at this stage and at a Rams facility as well! Nah doesn't add up to me.

Also I wouldn't trust Fisher in an upstairs role either unless Demoff hired someone who's only job was to slap Jeff every time he even thinks about giving an opinion on the offense or offensive players.

No Jeff! That's a bad Jeff!

He did a nice job taking the Pac 12 preseason favorite and guiding them to a 3rd place finish in the Pac 12 North

Preseason favorites are rarely accurate. Washington is loaded. Colorado surprised. Stanford was held back by bad QB play. Not unexpected. They're trying to replace a 3-year starter.

Can't really see them being that overt about something like that in the middle of prepping for a game...Something just wouldn't smell right to me about that...Though the way that they do ANYTHING right now shouldn't be a surprise...

I feel the same, but I also can't think of why Shaw would be there. Unless he's got friends on the staff and they are just catching up?
