My song of the day

always funny how one song can trigger a specific , if even , a unspectacular memory every time you hear it

back when I was high school and first started dating my wife , we were at our local county fair , middle of the afternoon , and we were just simply walking through the main part of the fair grounds , kinda in the middle of the livestock show barns and the grandstand and carnival area , and somewhere off to the side , this song was playing on the radio from one of the retailer sales booths ,

we never stopped , mentioned it , probably even barely noticed it at the time

but..................

for some funny reason , now every time I hear that some , I'm instantly reminded of that very moment

I couldn't tell you what we were doing a minutes before that , or even a minute after that , probably did even hear the whole song as we passed by

but for that 30 seconds , I can remember it like it was this morning and it's not like the song has any special meaning , although I've always liked it , it's got a groovy beat and it's easy to dance

but it was just a random song that was playing on the radio as we passed by

but I heard it again on the radio earlier

and, well....................

this is my song of the day

The first time I listened to a SONY Walkman

was thanks to one of my younger sisters

when we were kids , we had a Aunt and Uncle who lived up in Minneapolis , and my parents would load us kids up in the car three or four times a years , and we would go up and stay with them for the weekend , and hang out in the big city

well , on one of those trips , my younger sister bought a SONY walkman , and the cassette Loverboy

so the first time I ever listened to a SONY walkman was in the back seat of my parents car on the way to Minneapolis

and so , this is my song of the day

I know how you feel. I would sometimes ride in the back of a friends' truck with a shell (yes, stupid, I was in high school) and he would be blasting Billy Squier - mostly a forgettable artist. But good times have made me a big fan of this song.
