I want a Sly and the Family Stone Box set...I wish could find a young band that sounds like Sly... I'm tired of Hip Hop.

Just released last week...Steven Wilson's new concept album Hand. Cannot. Erase.

According to Wilson, the album is written from a female perspective, and the concept and story are inspired by the case of Joyce Carol Vincent, where a woman living in a large city dies in her apartment and no one misses her for three years, despite her having family and friends. Wilson explained:

"The basic story, or concept of the record – it's about a woman growing up, who goes to live in the city, very isolated, and she disappears one day and no one notices. There's more to it than that. Now, what's really interesting about this story is that your initial reaction when you hear a story like that is, 'Ah, little old bag lady that no one notices, no one cares about.' [Vincent] wasn't [like that]. She was young, she was popular, she was attractive, she had many friends, she had family, but for whatever reason, nobody missed her for three years."

Buddy of mine has a band named Blue Ice. They recently cut an album named "Legends in our Mind". I posted the "My First Car" track in the my first car thread. Here are a few more from that album. I always tell Jeff that his voice reminds me a lot of David Bowie.

I love the album jacket cover:

One interesting fact about this song: it was written by Michael Nesmith of the Monkees.

In the following video Mike Nesmith does a fast version of the song on "The Monkees" at the 16 minute mark. The show was in 1966. The Stone Poneys would release the famous version in 1967.

And since I thought the young Linda Ronstadt was super cute, here's another of hers I like:

I'm a Motown/horn band kind of guy. After all these years I still love the old Motown artists and horn bands like Tower of Power and Cold Blood. Sly is right up there with them though. He started out as a DJ in San Francisco, made it to the top and then blew it all on drugs. But for a few years he was writing and recording music with the best of them. At least we still have that.

As far as Steve Wilson goes, my son recommended his new album to me and I have it bookmarked but haven't yet had a chance to listen to it. Thanks for the video.

I woke up this morning with this song stuck in my head. I keep telling you guys that I'm a Country Boy at heart.

This concert was held at a prison btw...

Got to see them live for the Abominog tour in 82. Actually I believe it is one of the few concert T-shirts that I still have. I had a ton of concert jerseys but most of been lost to time and my sons have rifled through the good ones that remain.
