Yikes. We didn't draft any OL at all.

If my math is correct, which is suspect, it looks like we can improve 30 spots.

Now if we had a top 5 O line, then it would be hard to improve.
Going from worst to first when nothing has changed would be a miracle. Pretty sure that's what he was getting at.

Not one OG drafted early. Jonah Jackson may have been competition at OC/OG was taken in round #3 well be fore the Rams drafted in that round.

The way I look at it, is that we had tons of season ending injuries, on our OL last year. We drafted OL, the last 2 years. Whitworth was the only player that played his position for more than a handful of games. Some of the rookies came in, struggled, got moved around, and then started playing some good football.

We already drafted the guys. Noteboom, Edwards, Corbett, Evans, Allen, Shelton, and Brewer, some got experience, some got hurt, some didn’t play, but they are our future at the position. When you add the assumed starters, you have a lot of competition.

I saw some of these guys improve before my eyes. I think we’ll be OK, and deep.

#1 RB is cut prior to draft.

Top draft choice is used on a RB.

This tells me coaches were not at all pleased with the production from the #1 RB position and I agree.

I, too, would have liked to see some OL selected but does anyone seriously think that a couple of mid round OL draft picks are going to be able to step right in and elevate the Ram OL to elite status?

If so, you are kidding yourself.

I get that. What I mean is that the bar isn't that high. It's not like we were middle of the pack or lost a bunch of players and we're all wondering how the o love will perform. The first half of the year we had young players, some out of position, starting games. We also had injuries. Luckily through injuries we find an O line that performed better. With more experience and less people out of position (and hopefully Blythe playing with fewer minor injuries to all his joints), yeah maybe we can improve significantly. To number 1? No. But I also never said that. I said that's how much we could improve (using math to match his sarcasms, I was technically correct).

If the o line improves to a 15th ish level and McVay tries better to work with what he has and hide deficiencies, maybe we look ok.

Our oline is a MUCH larger question mark than our receiving core, yet how many receivers have we brought in? I respect everyone here, but some y'alls reasoning doesn't make any sense.
It's almost like you're trying to talk yourself into believing everything will be alright. Lol

Only three OC drafted by round three. Rams decided to replace Gurley and Cooks. . For all the talk about Cush, Hennessey and Biadasz none were considered an early must pick. The Rams would have moved up in round #3 to get Cush or Hennessey while Biadasz stock dropped maybe because of medical concerns.

We had the 2nd worst o-line in the league...Whitworth is another year older...Havenstein is still a huge question mark...Noteboom/Allen finally got on the field last year played bad before going on IR...Corbett was traded away from Browns due to his play (They started Greg Robinson at LT)...I just don't see how you cannot add one more guy to this bunch with a top 100 pick. They did it for WR even tho we still have Kupp, Woods, and Reynolds...why not.tackle or guard/center?

But what do I know, i hope it all comes together...

I may be in the minority but I really believe we just needed to get bigger/better/more experienced at center.

If we can create any spare cheddar, maybe we go that route after June cuts.

The good OTs were taken early. Ezra Cleveland OT with no killer instincts or Cam Akers who arguably is the best all-around RB in the draft?

I do know how depth charts are managed. I stated a fact, and nowhere did I say we cut him now. He should have been released weeks ago. I believe STRONGLY that we could upgrade from him and could have in this draft. So like I said, the fact that he is still clogging a roster spot is an indicator we dont have that good of depth.

Can't say I'm not concerned but we'll roll with what we have. They did improve by the end of the season and sometimes continuity to the next offseason is all it takes to see a better unit. I'm expecting less 11-personnel sets this season, having extra blockers will mitigate the pass rush and give us the element of surprise on offense again.

Time will tell if McSnead made the right choice.

I expect the Goff rollouts will now be a staple of the McVay
offense.

Our Oline is a joke.

Rollouts/scrambles.

If you look at every teams offensive line drafts since 2017 im guessing almost all of them will have at least one average starter. Cant say that for mcvay and snead. And since they only drafted a dart in the 6th today i an concerned that trend will continue.

Allen and blyth were either getting pushed back run over or run around yet the rams success in 2020 appears to depend heavily on whether or not they improve this year.

Who knows when noteboom will be able to start and contribute and how effective he will be. Maybe corbett takes his place. Another question mark.

Hav was hurt so I'm guessing his crappy year was a glitch.

The 2 rookies did ok but mostly when they had TE help so more question marks there.

Now had they did what denver did and signed mcgovern instead of floyd, then drafted cushenberry and let them camp battle it to see who would be center and who would be guard, i think the oline would have a much better chance at being significantly better.

I think mcvay thought he was getting cush until denver yanked the rug. You dont interview 3 of the top 4 or 5 centers unless you know theres a need and you plan on taking one, and since they knew these guys were the top propsects they had to of known theyd go in the first 3 rounds. Had denver not pulled the sneaky smart move, we would have seen a much different expression on his face.

Our top 2 running backs will have a combined 39 professional carries so I hope they are right. Otherwise, this season is gonna be rough.

Still a lot of off season to go before the season starts. If they feel they need somebody they will have plenty of chances to get it done.

Exactly! Rams have a slew of Guards and Tackles but Blythe and Allen are the only real centers on the team and they are a bit undersized. I expect the Rams to look to free agency to find a veteran Center option much like they did with Sully in 2017. Beginning Monday FA signed don’t count against Comp picks earned and after the draft I expect their will be some veteran Centers released that will be looking for work. Outside of the Michigan Center who was drafted in round 1 the rest of the center’s in this draft had a lot of question marks. Rams will find an option in free agency and probably target the position again in 2021 draft.

They like Blythe and Allen at center. They say it. They act that way in free agency and the draft and people do not believe them.

Well, a former 1st, two 2nd's, and our 3rd round draft pick from last year seem secure in starting positions.

Our weakest link is at OC and I'll take Blythe over Allen.

We were almost Fisher like predictable last year (until late in the season) on O and that makes the OL's job that much tougher.

Hopefully, with an energized backfield, we will be able to regain that element of "don't know what's coming next" we saw in '17 and '18.

I'd like to have seen a modern day version of Jackie Slater or a Dennis Harrah drafted but the scouting staff did not see one out there, or the very much over rated OL coach Komer did not bang the table hard enough.

Rams have 5 linemen drafted in 2018/19 in Corbett, Boom, Allen, Edwards and Evans. They’re expecting guys to step up.

Blythe is going to be the center. Allen likely the backup. Hav and Whit at tackle. Hav needs a bounce back year. They’re going to compete at guard for starting spots between Corbett, Edwards, Boom and Evans. Competition will be a good thing. Boom and Evans can play tackle too. This guy from Clemson is also a nice project on the inside.
