Nope it was past.
They showed it again on slo mo, then stopped it.
the second kick was a yard past the LOS.
It's the same rule as the QB crossing the line.
Just one part of his body had to be behind the LOS. It clearly was.

Hey, for those who want the rule changed, that's understandable. But don't blame the refs on this particular play, because they adhered to the current rules to the letter.
I don't see indisputable evidence to overturn this.We know McVay totally sucks at challenges, but this time he should've thrown a flag. I bet Baldy or someone else will examine this to be past the LOS. I agree they should eliminate double punts in the future.
How about big ups for Jamir Jones! Great block!
This was not a WOW moment for me, It was a SOB moment that sent me raging.I wasn't even mad. Tis why I watch sports -- for the fandom and the occasional "WOW" moments like these where a player exhibits greatness -- turning the brink of catastrophe into greatness.
I have NEVER seen that before. They missed the call. Because the refs weren't paying attention to the spot of the 2nd kick, they gave it to Seattle that the kick was behind the LOS and unlike a pass, you CAN double kick it... but the ball cannot go past the LOS. Because of the block, the ball didn't... until the kicker carried it past the LOS to do the double kick.
So yeah, they messed up, but man... whoda thunk THAT would have happened???
If it had been one of those crazy windy days like in Soldier Field and the punter kicked it and after going forward X yards, the wind blew it back, then the kicker would NOT be allowed to kick it again.
At least, that's the explanation we got.
Expect THAT to be a rule change come next year...
To be honest the Rams should have been all over the punter when he picked up the blocked punt despite it taking a rather fortunate placement when blocked. What if we blocked the 2nd punt too? Do they get a 3rd crack at it?
Fuckery.
I suspect most of us would all be ecstatic if it was Hekker who made this sick play.
I don't understand why anyone would want an exiting play like this taken out of the game
and basically rugby…... Anything else is flat out fucking stupid imo.
That was me, I don't think you should be able to punt the ball again, but who would every think a punter would get the chance and to give Dickson credit, he booted it well. Could not stand it, but all the Rams were downfield after the block by Jones.
I don't see indisputable evidence to overturn this.
LOS clearly at 21 yard line.
Dixon one hands the blocked live ball and does hard stop at 20 to kick it.
Plant foot on 21, entire body behind the 21.
And I don't understand why anyone would want an exiting play like this taken out of the game. I would love to see Hekker pull this off if he's ever blocked.

After the first kick, they're allowed. Dumb rule but it's the rule.Just looking at these clips show more than gunners are beyond LOS
But it was the BALL that was not allowed to go past the line of scrimmage, not the player. It’s not the same rule as for passing. When passing, any part of the quarterback’s body can be behind the line of scrimmage and have the throw be legal. Not sure the refs fucked up.
Rulebook apparently allows a second punt from behind the LOS if the first was blocked.
LOS was the 21. Second punt occurred almost exactly on the 21 yard line. Was extremely close as to whether 2nd punt was behind LOS or not.
Bottom lineBut it was the BALL that was not allowed to go past the line of scrimmage, not the player. It’s not the same rule as for passing. When passing, any part of the quarterback’s body can be behind the line of scrimmage and have the throw be legal.
However, for the second punt, it is the ball that must be behind the line of scrimmage.
