Some very good (bad) choices so far but I’ll go all in on Chris Claiborne.

Aside from being a little painful to think about, that's tough because a bad player is unlikely to hang around very long unless it's a high pick or a big-$ free agent that a team / front office may feel obligated to keep around a few seasons.

The Tye Hill and Jason Smith suggestions are solid.

Greg Robinson and Joe Klopfenstein come to mind.

Couple big-$ free agents that still make me cry are Dwayne White and Jason Brown (I was thrilled when he signed). However, #1 on the list for me would be Drew Bennett because his addition was tied to the Rams moving-on from Isaac Bruce.
Wasn't it Justin King that got burned for 3 1st quarter touchdowns by Torrey Smith? I honestly transpose he and Tye Hill, and can't remember which was worse.

Greg Robinson, wow.....so much potential so little commitment to craft.

Drew Bennet---again.....great answer.

Pretty much in agreement with your entire train of thought in this post.

Oh there are - there are

However, our 1st round picks were actually decent to very good for the most part

Worst one other than Phillips was probably Wayne Gandy or Bern Brostek ( don't even remember that guy)

Other 1st round picks that were good

Todd Lyght
Sean Gilbert
Jerome Bettis
Kevin Carter
Orlando Pace
Eddie Kennison (well not that great but not horrible either that I can remember)
Grant Wistrom
Torry Holt

Some All Pros and Hall of Famers there - how the heck did we do so poorly

Must have been the 2nd rounds and lower
Bern Brostek made a couple of bro bowls, if I’m not mistaken.

Meh... Henley was an amateur in the POS category compared to Phillips. He also was a pretty good Corner for us.
'Amateur ... POS'?!

Come-on.

Henley was convicted in trafficking cocaine; and then put-out murder contracts on a witness and the judge.

That's professional, high-quality POS-material my friend.

I have to push-back on Gandy and Brostek.

They were on some bad teams but both were quality O-Linemen.

I think Gandy played like 14 or 15 seasons; and Brostek was really good for 5-6 years before a back injury.

My memory is bad since I don't remember them playing well lol

They had some really good first round picks in the 90s on such really crappy teams

Understandable. In fact, I envy you. Wish I could forget the Rams from 1990-1998.

During that stretch, they had the worst record in the NFL and did not have a winning season.

Many of them signed with other teams after original contract…John Shaw didn’t want to pay
