Rams WR Cooper Kupp out for season with torn ACL in his knee Nov 12, 2018

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp is out for the season after tearing his ACL during Sunday's 36-31 win over the Seattle Seahawks, coach Sean McVay confirmed Monday.

Kupp suffered the injury in the fourth quarter on a play away from the ball. He was running a route, jostled a bit with the defender, then went to the ground and grabbed his knee. Kupp walked off the field with assistance from the training staff.

"It's a huge loss for our football team, he's such an important part of what we do and a great football player, a great person, and it's tough, but fortunately we've got guys that are ready to step up," McVay said.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - Jan 16, 2021 The Los Angeles Rams won’t have leading receiver Cooper Kupp available for their NFC divisional playoff game against the top-seeded Green Bay Packers.

Kupp headlines the Rams’ list of inactive players for Saturday’s game. He had been listed as questionable with a knee injury.

Kupp had 92 catches for 974 yards in the regular season to lead the Rams in both categories, and three of his receptions went for touchdowns. He followed that up by catching four passes for 78 yards in a 30-20 playoff victory at Seattle last week.

I personally don't believe the Rams can trust Kupp's knees.

They better not be content with Woods, Van Jefferson and Kupp's (knee injury history) as their top 3 WR's going into the 2021 season.

Drafting a rookie WR in the 2021 NFL draft is not going to be enough insurance. :noway

They need to sign a solid veteran Free Agent WR and there are no if ands or buts about it.

Not the same injury. Not sure that it was even the same knee. If I remember correctly. The second one was a contusion from knee to knee contact and could have happened to anyone.

Freak accident.

Don't be in denial. His knees have an injury history. Does it matter if it was the left or right?

Call it a fluke but I'm not comfortable with Woods, Kupp and Van Jefferson as their only veteran WR's heading into the 2021 season

Look at the video dude. Read the post.

It was his left knee and has been his left knee.

Don't be in denial. His left knee now has an injury history.

lol... did you watch the video you posted?

its his right knee in the video

So he's got 2 knees that have been injured? "It can happen to anyone" is true. It could happen to Bobby Trees. It hasn't. It could happen to Josh Reynolds. It hasn't. It's happened to Kupp, twice, although one ended his 2018 season and the other only kept him out the most important game of the 2020 season. Twice in 4 years, his absence has had a huge affect on the team. I'm not saying get rid of CK. But FLORIDA RAM has a point. We should grab a vet WR just in case and draft a WR (though if Trishton Jackson is more than a project and can fill the role of next man up just a vet WR on the cheap would do). Our hope is Kupp doesn't miss any time....it is an odd numbered year. :giggle:

I corrected the post and the title.. His knees have been breaking down..

Spin it anyway you want.

I was merely implying his knees... YES KNEES are starting to become an issue.

The Rams need to buy some insurance on Cooper Kupp in my opinon.

Kupp has been unreliable in the postseason after 2017.

I’d like it if they got some insurance. One injury to Woods, or Kupp could hurt. If they had a dominant TE type then not so much.

But we dont know what they think of players we have not seen. Do they think Hopkins could become a playmaker? T. Jackson ?

Sorry, this is just being too flaky on Kupp for me. Seems like him missing some important games last year because of knee contusion is being held against him. The guy continues to put down for us, so he's definitely dependable.

Yeah wanting to upgrade the starters or getting good depth is one thing. Singling out Cooper Kupp b/c of routine football injuries doesn't sit right with me either.

I don’t think we can depend on Kupp he’s injured every year it seems like.

lol guys are cracking me up... out of the last 34 games we have played... including the playoffs

he has played 32....

so 32 out of 34 games he has played since his ACL injury.

and one of those games was covid.

so were looking at count covid.. 94% of the games he has played in last two years.

If you just go by injuries 97% of the games he has played in the past two years.

this narrative is a fallacy.

Fine... call me the shit spinner @Ellard80

My take is clear.

I don't believe the Rams stand still with only Woods, Van Jefferson and Kupp as their veteran WR's when the smoke clears after free agency and the draft.

I keep saying it's a huge misconception that he's injury prone. This guy came out firing on all cylinders after rehabbing from his ACL whereas most guys take a year post ACL surgery to look normal again. He's played most games since. This kid busts his ass to perfect his craft and is all business. That's the type of player you wanna keep around.

I concur we need to train up some dependable WRs in that room as a precaution, but wouldn't we do that anyway? I mean, you should be making the final 53 with the guys you have no problem being the next-man-up.

Having said that, I don't want the Rams to overreact and treat this like B Cooks. Every pass thrown his way, I was praying he would get back up. Although it hurt not having him as a vertical threat, and he performed well this season after moving on, I still think it was the right choice even with the cap hit.

Kupp is not in that same category.

I'm gonna say they don't get rid of any of their WR core, but may add to it either via FA or draft.

So you are content on having only 3 veteran proven WR's for Stafford to toss the ball around to. Van Jefferson is still green behind the ears.

Kupp has a legitimate injury history and Van Jefferson is going to be a second year WR.

Please enlighten me why McVay would be fine with the WR's on the depth chart as of today.

Well, to start, they are paying 25 million to Kupp and Woods and are up against the Cap with several holes to fill. A "veteran" wr is pretty ambiguous term. Will they sign some guys for depth? Well, of course they could, as they only have 4 guys under contract right now and usually carry 6 WR. but we are talking a #4 WR now, could be that McVay likes what he sees from Trishton jackson?

Cap numbers don't matter to me.

The Rams will make a splash signing for a WR.

If I'm wrong you will get your credit knowing the pulse of the team better than I do. In my opinion the Rams are all in.

We will find out in the next 2 weeks.
