Media isn't as smart as they seem to think they are. His first full season with McVay and he's already a Pro Bowler. Think about how much better he can get.

BTW, Kurt Warner is the only other Ram QB to play a full season and post a passer rating of at least 100. There's nothing "average" about Jared or the company that he keeps.

He had a good statistical season, but he hit a ton of wide open WRs. He also made some great throws

so does every single other qb in the league that is in a good offense. have you seen tom brady play?

when he had to put it in there tight he did so many times. some of his throws in the playoff game were amazing. sure he had some bad throws during the game but when he really needed to deliver he did. unfortunately higbee and watkins didn't.

that game truly showed how much better a wr woods is than watkins. not even close.

Counterpoint: Goff was in his first year in a new system. Over his final 8 starts of the regular season, he posted 19 TDs to 3 INTs and a 109.4 passer rating. Those 8 starts came against the Giants, Texans, Vikings, Saints, Cardinals, Eagles, Seahawks, and Titans. If you remove the Texans and Giants, Goff still posted 12 TDs to 3 INTs and a 99.0 passer rating in 6 starts. Those 6 starts came against 4 playoff teams (including 1 Super Bowl champ) and 0 teams with losing records.

Goff isn't elite yet, but he was damn good last year, and he got better and better as the year went on.

Now that's the best write up yet. Take note of the constant improvement. Also for those that like to look at his failures in the clutch, I would point out that he kept coming thru in the 1st 9er game, with some awesome throws. When the Dallas game was on the line he came thru. When the 1st Seattle game was on the line, he made the winning passes and let's not forget that even though he started out slow in the playoff game he consistantly made clutch, catchable throws and was consistantly let down by every wr but woods. I agree he isn't there yet, but where he is keeps trending up.

Yeah listen, there's nothing wrong with being critical, however I find myself very protective of the Goff man considering what he went through his first year. Why should I be a cynic when there are more then enough of them out there!
Add to the fact that us long suffering Rams fans have not had much to celebrate in a decade plus! It was an awesome season and I thoroughly enjoyed watching each and every game! So forgive me for not wanting to over analyze and nitpick.
I've had plenty of years of griping about losing Rams seasons!

I bet most of them never studied or reviewed Jared Goff's play. He started off slow/bad especially for a number 1 pick. The media types have to form a fast opinion many without researching (looking at game video) and understanding the bad Jeff Fisher culture. The 2017 offseason produces more negative evaluations of Jared Goff because they need something to fill the TV airwaves, internet podcast and articles that are attention grabbing. They have made their stand and even when Goff produces a solid season they can't let go of their bad opinion and point to the new coach as to why the dramatic improvement. It's so easy to say it's the system and other players around him and not give him credit instead of admitting they were wrong.

The funny thing is many here saw things in the first season that showed why Goff was picked number 1. We saw the videos of his college success that improved year over year. Jared Goff proved he can make all the throws. He can move up in the pocket to create time and space. He just needed time to understand NFL defenses and is still learning.
