Was he in McVay's doghouse?

Usually when he plays we give the ball to him a couple times a game to keep defenses honest and also do fake jet sweeps to fool the defense. Some of our best plays were off of fake jet sweeps.

I don't remember one Jet Sweep or even a Fake Jet Sweep yesterday.

What happened?

He didn’t play yesterday because he’s really not that good.

Todd Gurley only received 15 carries himself in a game where the score was tied after three quarters, but the offense simply wasn’t in a rhythm at all. That, Sean McVay says, is the reason Austin hardly saw the field.

“It really was just tough to get in any sort of rhythm. Because I think they did a good job getting us off the grass, we didn’t really get enough plays off and you’d like to be able to get some of those substitutions and things like that,” McVay said after the loss. “With our inability to sustain drives, it was tough to get him going.”

The coach blamed himself for not getting Austin more involved, saying he has to be better about that in the future.

“He’s a player that we have to do a good job of – I’ve got to get him involved in the game, and it starts with being able to get more opportunities, which we didn’t get and is a credit to their defense,” he continued.

Gurley's YPA when TA is on the field is twice as high as we he is off the field.

It amazes me how people want to debate the facts man.

Tavon is a weapon DIRECTLY and INDIRECTLY.

A player like Higbee can get targets but Tavon can't? That's on coach.

If you can't get anything going, wouldnt you want to bring someone in to be able to create plays or at least take pressure off other key play makers?

They will bitch, moan, and complain about Tavon on how we should trade him, he is half our salary cap, he is trash, he sucks,

and now people complain that he isn't playing enough?
Are you sure this is the same group of fans/posters?

It could be two distinct groups.

Tavon doesn't make the top 10 list of what our biggest problems are.

Our defense was gashed!
They couldn't get a stop in the second half.
It would have been nice to see Tavon get a few touches, but yeah who knows

Say what?

I think he's basically saying that the Vikings bamboozled his ass.

Same MO as the first two losses. Throw the ball WAY too much and get one dimensional and get shutdown.

I am more unhappy about not getting Gurley the ball enough than TA.

So you voice your frustrations about other fans in a thread that until then had no negative comments about him thus far to ... what? Get those tiring comments going again?

I call bologna.
It was just a matter of time before they came having to deal with all the insane comments and threads throughout the season.
You can call it bologna, steak and lobster, or a ham fricken sandwich for all care it's fact.

I agree, but he's always the scapegoat for whatever reason.

Yesterday's game hinged on our inability to run the ball....we couldn't sustain any long drives....in a celebration post last week, I noted, we seemed to "look" for the big explosive play....rather than move the chains with 10-12 play drives.

I too wondered why no Tavon, at least the ghost motion....

I also think we played conservative to....protect a certain investment...seemed odd...but I understand.
always with the passive aggressive comments champ ?

we get it you dont think Goff is any good ... its getting boring man

214 yards from scrimmage for $15 mil.

Those are the facts... trying to extrapolate his impact on Gurley's numbers is a fool's errand if you ask me.

Maybe... just maybe... Gurley is the main reason for the change in numbers... maybe, just maybe, the Oline blocked better on those plays. My point is... it's impossible to quantify exactly how much Austin "contributed" to Gurley's numbers. But feel free to give Austin all the credit... maybe we should say Gurley wouldn't be anythiing without Austin.

I'm not saying some of the increased production is because of the "Austin Decoy Effect"... but 214 yards from scrimmage for $15 mil?

That just doesn't compute for me... we'll see what happens at the end of the season. My guess? McVay already knows he's not worth anywhere near what he's paid and they figure out how to unload his extra weight.

Nah, you went looking for a fight with a chip on your shoulder in a thread where there weren't any negative comments yet for a player who keeps getting his roles taken away from him, which isn't how I really wanted to deal with it, because I'm a fan of the team and I would much rather eat crow than see him fail.

To be honest, I would have preferred this thread to remain about strategy.

I think McVay pulled those plays because the defense was too fast side to side, so he tried a different approach. In a way, our coach/QB or both got a little big headed on us and stopped taking the short plays given.

For once I have to side wuth McVay in taking some of his own blame. I don't think he had the right game plan against the Vikings. Speed is one thing we needed and Tavon should of been used more. That has to change this week.
