Why are the Rams flirting with a Hooker?

This is due diligence covering the most unlikely scenarios arising I guess. Isn't next year's QB class supposed to be stronger than this year's? Too many holes to fill to spend the needed draft capital to land him I'm afraid. It definitely wouldn't be in line with what the Rams have been telling us about compiling picks for the future.

True but it seems our options on getting one we want would be easier in that draft. But I can understand taking a risk on a promising QB that slips to the 3rd round but at pick 36 doesn't make me feel all comfy inside.

Not sure I understand how it makes it easier? There are 2 QB who at the moment appear to be the top 2 players in next year's draft. Outside of that I'm not sure I understand where it will be easier to get a QB. This year's draft seems pretty loaded with the mid level prospect, no idea where next year will end up.

Got to love the hindsight. Bradford was an injury risk coming out of college? Because he had his college season end with an injury that he never had again in the pros? Should have known he was going to blow out his knee twice because he sprained his throwing shoulder? Good grief.
Full disclosure, I hated the Bradford pick. But trying to call him injury prone after he started like 28 straight college games is silly.
And as one who preferred Suh, I can fully admit his career is that of underachieving, and borderline disappointment.

Not sure what this has to do with Hooker though.

Sorry, but I'm not going to re-argue the Bradford/Suh debate with you.
I would leave you with the same reply I offered last time around, but that displeased some.

By the way, it wasn't hindsight in 2010.
 
Hooker is not worth a 1st, nor a 2nd, nor a 3rd round pick. Earliest I'd entertain the thought of drafting him is the 4th, but think he's really a 5th round pick. Any team that drafts him early is wasting a pick. I pray it's not the Rams that do it.

Richardson did nothing at Florida…Hooker wins the Heisman if not hurt.
 
I like Hooker. He played in a wonky system, but he was significantly more accurate than all the other QBs who played in that offense, including Drew Lock. I thought he was decisive with his (simplified) reads and generally accurate with the ball. He's also an above average athlete. I could see him developing into a QB like Dak Prescott. But even if he doesn't, he should make a solid backup QB. I'd take him on Day 2.

A team isn't drafting Richardson for what he did at UF. They're drafting him because he's only 20 years old, is one of the most physically gifted QBs ever (6'4" 240 with 4.4 speed and a howitzer for an arm), has good character, and could become a generational QB if he pans out. Basically, they're thinking they could get a Josh Allen type talent.

Is that possible? Sure. It's also possible that Richardson is a total bust. He has a lot of developing to do. But I'm not so sure it's a bad idea to take a kid who could be a NFL MVP or could put you in position to be picking a top QB prospect again in a couple years. It's arguably better than having a QB who is just good enough to stick around but not good enough to get your team over the hump.

Imo Hooker is a day three pick. He played in the Air Raid. He doesn’t have an arm that wows you and he’s coming off an ACL, so who knows how good his running will be.

That means the Rams will draft him at 36.

Umm... not to be contrarian, but Patrick Mahomes played in the Air Raid.

I know he's an exception to the rule, but perhaps Mahomes isn't unique as an exception as more teams play the Air Raid offense and attract more people who's talents will translate to the NFL?... especially as the NFL embraces more of the Air Raid concepts?

Well said and absolutely correct. I think I'd rather gamble on Richardson then Stroud myself. Young is the only guys I'd take above Richardson at QB. He has likely the most potential and highest ceiling of any player in the draft.
