not always feasible and sometimes looking back is the WRONG technique. all situational. he played it well enough.

Completely disagree. You see when the ball is about to be caught unless the WR is planning to wedge it in his helmet. When his arms raise you turn your head and get ready to catch that thing. Done it a million times in my youth.

great for youth i guess but there are several factors on when you turn your head and when you dont at higher levels of football. turning your head can be incorrect in several cases. i'm not going to write a book in this post about trail/catch technique, zone vs man, in vs out of phase, situational, etc but you may want to look these up if you really want to understand CB techniques at higher levels.
