Shula fools himself on Defense just like McVay 9th season continues to do so on offense. - Arm Chair "Fuck Them Picks" Snead aka Me. Special teams is still a mess. Keep hope! We're right there and then full moon shows up. Gotta love werewolves (aka Rams). :)

yet he had 2 ints in pressure packed moments.

maybe we take it easy on how we talk about rams players. family and friends likely read this board.
HAD the awareness of a brick, referring to that specific moment. I have said in other threads how I was impressed with some things he did in the game.

Unless I’m missing a two point conversion that I don’t remember the Rams have given up five consecutive two point conversion attempts.

3 in one game vs Seattle
2 vs Denver

Why in the world are we not able to stop this play?
Some of it is bad luck. One of those two-point conversions was the bullshit call in the Seattle game where Verse knocked the pass down. And on the Wallace play, he had it covered well. Nix got extremely lucky that the ball barely missed Wallace's helmet. Sometimes, the bounces don't go your way.

Yeah, no. I've seen enough bad coordinators over the years to know that Shula isn't incompetent.
Shula is an overthinker, just like McVay. Sometimes they appear to call the wackiest shit, probably thinking - wow, they will NEVER expect us to call that play!?!?! I think if they just stay the course, all will work out in the end.

Going off memory it seems like most of the 2 point conversions we give up are passes. Our corners have sucked for a while now, at least until this year, though the moment Watson went out we were right back where we were just with McDuffie erasing one threat.

So I'd say the answer to why we're bad at defending 2 point conversions is because our secondary sucks ball sack.

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself how many times that overthinking has won us games?

We're in the playoffs every year and have the kind of franchise that 90% of fans would kill for. So, I think it's working out just fine at the moment no matter how infuriating it can be at times.

yea, the one vs Seattle was one that technically the defense stopped, so that one doesn't apply here.

The game winning one that Seattle got was on Forbes, though a delayed throw to a TE in the game to block that nobody has ever heard of was just a genius move and would probably work against most teams.

Wallace and McDuffie had both of Denver's covered well - good offense beats good defense in most cases. I think Watson stops both of those though - we went after his size/length for a reason.

But at this point, we really should be going to a cover zero blitz on every two pt attempt....not blitzing Darnold last year is why those were converted.

It also feels like we're on a string of some very bad luck in the regular season. Carolina and Chicago we sort of exercised those demons....but in the regular season its not pretty.

Dating back to last year, there have now been 9 games that were decided by one score where the other team (whether it was us or them) had the ball with a chance to tie or take the lead (so not counting the Lions game where we were up 14 and they scored late to cut it to 7).

In those games, we are 3-6.

The wins are against the Texans, Colts and Seahawks (in LA).

Four of those losses were fairly miraculous - the Eagles meltdown last year, the Niners Thursday night game where Kyren fumbled on the one yard line for what would have been the game winning TD, the Seattle Thursday night game and then the Broncos game last week.

Special teams played a role in all those losses as well. Missed kicks in the three last year, and then the short fields against the Broncos.

The other two losses featured a pick six by Stafford (Falcons and Panthers last year). And then the game against the Broncos featured a pick six as well.

All to say - the defense really is not the problem here. It failed us against Seattle in the NFCCG alongside special teams - but overall, if you go back to last year they really weren't the primary reason we lost any game.

Everything you said here is well and good, but the defense and special teams have not been good enough this year and I think the coaches would agree.
