I don’t believe there is any conspiracy in NFL officiating. However, I do see bias and incompetence that needs to have some level of oversight safety valve. Maybe institute a single unrestricted challenge per game for each team that goes to NFL central for a final verdict.

So many people seem to be incapable of understanding that the referee's perspective was different than their own.

One of the things I liked about the World Cup soccer matches was the referee's view cameras. Put a high def cam in the brim of NFL ref hats so we can see what they saw in real time. A lot of the conspiracy theories will evaporate. I always thought the non-PI call in the 2018 NFC Championship was probably very defensible as a bang-bang call from that referee's perspective in real time.

I think anytime you have two or more refs looking at the same play where not all throw flags, there should be a short conference. If they disagree then someone with quick video analysis should be able to come into their earpiece with advice.
Except the down judge was literally right in front of the play and did not throw the flag. Some idiot behind the play did.

I don't think that supporting your team requires a fan to engage in conspiracy theories and accuse the refs of being biased, incompetent or dirty.

Today is Tuesday. Fans had their 24-hour period to vent. Time to turn the page. There is a reason I didn't post the comment right after the game. I get it, people are mad about the end of the game. Fine, blow off steam. We shouldn't stay there. It is too much. Pull back and let cooler heads prevail.
Things change in response to critical masses of public uproar all throughout human history. Companies regularly respond to customer complaints when the numbers get big enough, etc. Passivity just perpetuates the problem imo. (Plus I think it's a little condescending to paint critics as just being emotional.)

Right. The ref behind the play could potentially see a foul on the back. The ref in front of the play can see a foul in the front.

Quite honestly, I blame the back ref slightly less. It was a great acting job from Bryant. From the back view, it's easy to see how he could've thought it was a foul. I blame the ref in front more-- he should've had the vision and the guts to see the foul and conference with him.

I may be in the minority on this, but I blame Bryant more than the refs. In real time, he "sold" the pull and flop really well. Sleazy move.

That call was much worse than the Rams game. The Ravens didn't allow Dallas to score a TD and won the game with a FG. What is the point of complaining that the NFL has a pro-Cowboys bias? Just play the next snap. Make your own luck

The Rams stopped the Broncos twice, only to have the refs throw a flag to extend the drive.

How many times do you want the defense make a stop before we can complain about the refs?

.

This is such obvious nonsense to anybody who stops to think about it in any detail that I'm almost at a loss for words.

If it's a conspiracy, literally scores, if not hundreds of people are involved. And yet, has anybody ever come out and said as much?

There would have been whistleblowers queuing up, with journalists forming another queue to get to the whistleblowers.

This isn't the mafia who's going to whack anybody who speaks out. It's the NFL.

Maybe 1 per half, and no rollovers ....... use it or lose it, per half.
In this day and age of tech advances, letting obviously BS calls stand at critical points of the game is simply outdated.
This shit has to stop.
I'm done with this topic ........ On to the Eagles game.

Every angle is valid. Sometimes PI can't be seen by the guy in front of the action.

The back ref thought he saw something from his angle. Two views and two different perspectives. Bring in a third party to review the tape for 15 seconds. If he can't make up his mind the flag stays. If he decides it was a nothing-burger, the flag is picked up.

Who are the cooler heads? McVay wasn't cool, neither was Stafford or Donald.
