Some notes on these games from my armchair...

First as much as I love Sayin's accuracy his arm does not look strong enough to be a top end pick range QB. So I'd imagine that when he comes out the Rams would have a shot on him. Of course all it takes is one team to make a reach pick.

I have a bias against Beck that makes it tough for me to be objective. But what is funny is with this class and the potential glut of 6'1" QBs he sticks out due to his height.

Haven't watched much of Texas Tech, so I am eager to get a look at their team and QB. Certainly will be watching the Oregon QB.

Bama vs Indiana is the headliner for the QBs I think. Really need to see bigger ballsack from Simpson, whose game has dropped off quite a bit of late. No idea where he goes in this draft tbh. Still wonder how he measures in on his height, but I guess one hurdle at a time. I think Indiana's defense is one hell of a unit and challenge.

Beck is on my Absolutely-Do-Not-Draft list. He has one of the single shittiest attitudes I think I've ever seen a quarterback prospect have. When things are going well, it's okay, but when he loses, it's everyone's fault but his: the coaches, the receivers, the offensive line, the defense, etc.

Been this way at Georgia and Miami, and he doesn't have near the amount talent (see: Rodgers, Aaron) to excuse his throwing people under the bus.

I also don't like Beck.

I'll be very interested in seeing how Cole Payton does at the Senior Bowl.
Strengths
  • Athleticism & Rushing: True speed, acceleration, vision, and strength; a tackle-breaker and significant rushing threat (894 non-sack rushing yards in 2025).
  • Arm Talent: Legitimate NFL arm strength, able to make "natural NFL throws" and stretch the field.
  • Pocket Management: Good understanding of the pocket, can step up, move laterally, and extend plays while keeping eyes downfield.
  • Football IQ: Shows ability to read defenses, look defenders off, and work through progressions.
  • Competitive Toughness: High motor, fights for extra yards, and is a menace on the ground.
  • High Upside: Strong developmental prospect with the tools to be a good NFL QB with patience.

Weaknesses
  • Footwork: Occasional issues with correcting footwork, leading to errant throws.
  • Anticipation: Sometimes relies on routes coming open rather than throwing with anticipation.
  • Experience: Primarily a one-year starter, needs time to develop against higher competition.

Projection
  • Draft Range: Late first round to Day 2 (rounds 4-5) as a developmental prospect.
  • NFL Role: Likely needs a "bridge" QB situation to learn behind an established veteran (like Matthew Stafford/Aaron Rodgers) for a year or two before potentially starting.
  • Comparable Players: Taysom Hill, Trey Lance.
  • Key Event: Attending the 2026 Senior Bowl to prove his skills against top competition.

Definitely an interesting prospect.

I watched his highlights and seems like 8 out every 10 "highlight plays" are him running. Not much showing his arm. Did see a few where you can see his arm strength, but not much showing him reading defenses, or intermediate accuracy, etc.... He definitely would be a long-term project. If Stafford plays through 27' then he would make sense as a late round flyer.

I’d love a guy like Cole drafted in mid draft as a LT prospect while Staff continues and we wait to see about next years draft (gonna be a LOT of QBs in that draft).

Using Cole as a short yardage QB sneak guy behind center - 3rd and 4th and inches. With staff, you just can’t do that. Could even expand packages near goal line - maybe using both.

Yep, it's why I'll be interested in seeing how he does at the Senior Bowl. He doesn't have a lot of experience, but if he shows well against NFL talent, that'll signal to me he's worth serious consideration. I continue to think McVay wants his next QB to be able to use his legs as a weapon, and this kid is listed at 6'3" 230+ and has legit speed (I'd guess a 40 in the 4.55 to 4.65 range). Arm talent isn't an issue either.

Klubnik isn't far behind him either. He regressed so much this year. I say this as a disappointed Clemson fan.
I don't watch much Clemson but I do recall him lookin pretty damn good about a year ago. Were there any reasons why he'd regress, like losing his QB coach or a drop in protections?

I’ve watched a lot of Clemson. Klubnik came in with a ton of hype and was underwhelming early on. Then he started to play better and everyone just assumed that trend would continue and the hype would be realized. But it just never happened. He had some real nice flashes here and there, he looked pretty good against Texas in the playoffs last year, but he could just never string together a month of consistent football.

His OC/QB coach has been the same since 2023 same with the OL coach and the scheme hasn't changed. Some of it could be supporting cast but he hasn't looked good at all. I mentioned even before the season I didn't think his arm was strong enough and that showed for sure this year. At times he just misses WR's and makes bad decisions. I'm honestly not sure why he regressed but he just was not good this year. I didn't like him as a Rams target but it was all arm strength issues to me and the rest was adequate. This year the rest dropped to the arm strength level I honestly don't get it. I think he's a late day 3 pick now as a lottery shot for somebody. Might just be a Bennett going forward if he can stick as a backup TBH.
