Thing is as good as Marshal Faulk was, he’d never sniff playing time with ED on the roster, or at best play the role of Malcom Brown
At least that’s my POV, and I saw them both
Faulk could have been a starting reciever on any team ED played on, so he would get his snaps.
I get what you're saying about Dickerson and in that era, on that team, built to run in an era that focused on it more - I would say you're totally right: Marshall wouldn't get many carries with ED on *that* team. I have to swallow a part of my pride to say that, Faulk is 1A or 1B for my favorite player ever... but the truth is Dickerson was as dominant as any runner has been in this game. Both Faulk and Dickerson set all-time NFL records while playing - but ED's has held up all this time for a reason: Dickerson dominated the run game as no one else has since. Not in yards anyways.
Considering the emphasis in the passing game and the complexities of the modern offense, I think Faulk would be at least right there with ED in terms of total benefit to the offense... in McVays system, on this team? I dunno. ED was the man.. but Marshall Faulk was a bad MF too.... superman and shit.
Also, I'm glad you didn't compare #28 to Malcolm Brown. That would be blasphemous.
