As I said before, I kinda wish this game was in AZ. We play better there and they play worse for some reason.... Haha

One of the questions that needs to be asked is does Mr Kroenke care what color the jerseys in the seats of his stadium are? If he does nobody has more potential to affect that than his team. Come up with a creative marketing plan that converts all those people wearing brand new swag into in stadium fans. Programs and promotions to inject interest in the stadium experience. After you get them there through your own in house promotions they may then start affecting the secondary market.

Rams were 'caught off guard' by how many 49ers fans were at SoFi Stadium in Week 18

By Chris Bengel

The San Francisco 49ers came from behind on the road to defeat the Los Angeles Rams, 27-24, in overtime in Week 18 and earned a playoff spot in the process. While the game, on paper, was an away one for the Niners, Rams head coach Sean McVay didn't exactly feel at home at SoFi Stadium.

Following the Rams' loss, McVay said that the number of 49ers fans in attendance at SoFi Stadium caught the Rams "off guard."

"It did catch us off guard," McVay said Monday. "Just because of the way that it's been this year. It's been great, great atmosphere, great environment. Yesterday was the same thing, but there was a lot of red there. That was definitely a surprise."

The Rams announced an official attendance of 74,447 fans at Sunday's game. There's no way to compute how many of those in attendance were 49ers fans, but Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, like McVay, noticed that the road team traveled well.

"It was a tough environment for us to communicate in really the whole second half," Stafford said.

Making matter worse was that, according to McVay, Stafford hurt his toe during the game -- which altered some of the plays that were called for the Rams offense. That, plus the loud crowd, made the environment harder for the Rams offense to play in. Stafford finished the game completing 21-of-32 passes for 238 yards to go along with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

"It wasn't like he was going to come out of the game," McVay said of the injury. "There's just certain things that maybe you would potentially call on those scenarios that you're not as comfortable with the ability to execute at the level that you want."

Despite the loss, the Rams still were able to win the NFC West because the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Arizona Cardinals. So now on Monday, the Rams will host the Cardinals in an NFC Wild Card matchup. Maybe this one will be a true home game for the Rams.

I would expect a lot of Red Monday too. It is a Monday game in L.A, the amount of work it takes to clear your schedule and make the commute evens the playing field and AZ is an under 6hr drive away.
Not sure I agree with this. Cards don't travel well (should have stayed in STL and killed a few "birds" with that stone I think), and they've been losing a LOT lately. Not sure many fans will want to travel out here, pay what it will take, just to see them get curb stomped.

Not saying it's an easy game, just my take on their point of view. I think it will be an obvious home game.

What is silly is some seem not to understand how the resale market works. You can not discriminate who you can sell to on a trusted site. If you are going to cast stones, throw them at the fan base not willing to put the effort into showing up.

LIKE WE DO!!!!
When we're complaining about the fans, it's clearly not directed at people who showed up. I'm sure a lot of great LA fans were there and hats off to all of you.
I don't know what it was like in person, I'm sure a different perspective would affect my thoughts on it.

Prepared for it or surprised by it.... it was an absolute embarrassment and totally intolerable.
The Rams have to figure out how to address it and fix it.
I'm fucking serious. They want to build a fanbase, fill up the stadium... then they can't have scenes like that on TV ever again...

It was a hostile environment in the Rams own home

Are you kidding me, have you ever seen Dodger fans at away games??? We took over Fenway Park a couple years ago.

This happens everywhere with teams with strong following fanbases. It happens, need to get over it.

I agree, it should be an obvious home game. People are just really sensitive and there will be an AZ presence not at all like GB, Chicago or that nightmare on Sunday but it will be there to some degree. Even Detroit had a respectable turnout

Hahahaa dude. I've seen and been to countless games with opposing fanbases.
I remember Packers fans calling the Edward Jones Dome "Lambeau South" as we exited the game after a big loss. (You know who didn't need a silent count that day? Our offense.)
And this isn't baseball. There's not a thousand games nobody cares about.
This was a division rival with playoff implications and it was a hostile environment at our new home. A lot of money was spent, a lot of drama, a lot of draft picks, a lot of recent success, records on the line, superstars all over....
And that's what we get??
But it's cool bro. That's what teams with support do...
How condescending.

I heard a whole lot of shit about the fan support in my area and about how much better it would be.... Now I'm being told that what I just saw is how it is and I need to get over it....

I guess the bar, for me, for not getting over something, is set at "not having to use the silent count at home". You can set your own bar as low as you feel like..

Truly an embarrassment for the fanbase. Period. Not sure why there's a conversation.

Who knows if it will ever be different, but it seems unlikely with the economics and diverse fanbase already in LA. There's just not a deep enough loyal fanbase to create a consistent homefield advantage.

Sucks.

The stadium was red, but not as red as @Rynie ’s pic.

All that red was pretty quiet in the first half as I was pelvic thrusting in every direction.

If the team maintained that level of performance we wouldn’t have heard them.

I’ll agree that it would be nice for our fans to make noise at the right time, not during a timeout while the Whiner offense is getting water. That is not when the PA announcer should be asking for noise.

But….on to the Cardinals!!!! Let’s Go!!!

When we win the Bowl, no one will be talking about that game

They really weren’t getting a lot of support after moving to Anaheim. LA has always been a fair weather fan base with some die hards mixed in.

I had hopes that with the new stadium and a winning product a place with that many people could fill the stadium.

I remember 100k+ at the coliseum back in the 50’s.

When they moved to Anaheim they actually had pretty good attendance. That held until Georgia and Shaw began the real dismantling of the Rams and furthered their agenda to move the team. They went from 12th in attendance to 28th (dead last) in the span of 4 years.

I went to some games in Anaheim and I have to say that it was amazing that they had as good of attendance as they did. That was the worst NFL venue I have ever been to.

I went to probably 20 games in Anaheim, and as 503 said, LA fans were great.
Stadium never bothered me either (unlike 503), although I had nothing but the Coliseum to compare it to, which sucked imo, history and tradition notwithstanding.

I had season tickets in Anaheim for every year they were there. It was great, until the great dismantling...

I hated that move, best thing about the Big A was concerts. I had gone to the coliseum and always thought that was home. Never made it to StL now I have to convince the Mrs that going to LA for a game wouldn’t be all that bad. :dizzy::dizzy::dizzy:

The Rams were gone for decades. Most locals became 49ers fans in that time, and the 49ers had some very successful stretches during that time span. What did you expect? People to just drop their team because the Rams moved back? Some will. Many (most?) won't. It's frustrating and embarrassing but not unnatural. All new sports franchises struggle with this. The Rams are not a new franchise, per se, but they're new to LA again. Just keep winning and slowly, over time, the problem will solve itself. I think management knows this too and, in part, it is why they target star players so aggressively. Win games, have big name players, and kids will grow up wanting to be AD, or OBJ, or Cooper Kupp. Nobody at age 5 appreciates offensive or defensive schemes, or wants to be dink and dunk Jimmy G or the no name RB flavor of the year that can grind out yards in Shanahan's system. Their minds aren't that sophisticated yet.

I expect a similar problem will exist when the Raiders play at SoFi. They are in Las Vegas now but of course historically have roots in Oakland which is not too far away from LA. No doubt many LA locals migrated to the Raiders franchise as well when the Rams left.

Don't forget the Raiders were the LA Raiders as well.

Too many season ticket holders sold their seats. It's the price we pay for not having blackouts.

It's not like the Chargers that play away games every game at SoFi. Only 25-35% of the fans at their games are Charger fans. It's up slightly from when they played in the soccer stadium. Then they at best had only 10K fans in a sold-out 27K seat stadium.

All I can say to Stafford is "Welcome to LA". Dodger fans get there in the second inning and leave at the end of the 6th and they have the most loyal pro-sport fanbase in LA.

Building on the 17 point lead instead of blowing it would've quieted them. A strategy that apparently hasn't occurred to them.
