So.. Roster wise.. where are the Rams at, in your mind? Are they better or worse than they were at the end of the season, in your mind? Compared to the start of last season?

Not a super deep dive.. but.. general thoughts:

Quarterback:
Same, and that's not a bad thing.

Running back:
Better. Corum has a year experience now and Hunter is an excellent addition, imo. I like that they have someone to work in who has a little more juice.. and who also runs hard.

WR:
Better. I hate saying that reflects in a negative way at all on Cooper Kupp.. so this is NOT taking any shot at him. But Davante is a significant upgrade, in my mind.. especially because of specific fit. Kupp may thrive again in a system where he's got two outside guys to take pressure off him and allow him to find space. Davante creates his own space.. puts a different kind of pressure on defenses.. and may actually open more up for guys like Tutu and Whittington. Also.. Tutu is better than a lot think.. and I think Whittington is going to take a step. I also think that there's more to squeeze from Smith.

TEs:
Appreciably better than the start of last season and slightly better than at the end. Ferguson is interesting.. I think he impacts the WR mix quite a bit.. I can see him taking on a lot of motion stuff and being a super-sized Puka in motion actions. Higbee came back and looked better than I expected.

Oline:
Should be better? Sounds like Shelton is penciled in as starter.. but I'm curious if Limmer can get in the weight room enough to make a difference there and beat him out. At worst, depth at center should be better. No experienced swing tackle is a bit of a concern. I wonder what they really think of Leveston? There's no reason to think he *can't* be a solution.. but it's unknown. The UDFA guy is very intriguing from a physical profile standpoint.. but.. who knows with that?

Safeties:
Slightly better. I just think with a full season for the young players.. and having, essentially the same unit come back, is a big, big plus. They need to be creative and they can be. I think they may be a real strength.

Corners:
Who knows? Lol. Apparently, they're happy with them. Seems there's some smoke around Ramsey coming back. We'll see. So many question marks.. but there's still some real potential with Forbes and Durant.

Linebackers:
Better. I think. I mean.. we have to see Paul in action, he's a rookie. But.. he seems like a fantastic addition and Landman feels, at worst, like an upgrade on 1st and 2nd down over Reeder or Rozeboom. I think Speights will take a big step.. love, love what I saw from him.

OLBs:
Better. I hope. I think Verse will continue to improve and I hope he can figure out what's behind so many of his missed tackles. If he cleans that up.. he starts moving into DPOY conversations. A truly special player who I expect to get even better. BY is what he is.. limited.. but plays hard and has some good qualities. Losing Hoecht hurts.. but I'm intrigued by Stewart and believe he may be every bit as good, if not better. Even as a rookie.

DL:
Better. Definitely better. Adding ford and then Hamilton MORE THAN MAKE UP for losing Bobby Brown.. and Poona is just an absolute perfect fit for what they needed to add on first and second downs. Hamilton is intriguing.

If the additions on offense compliment each other the right way.. the offense can go from pedestrian to good or very, very good. If they can stay healthy.. and if someone like Ferguson can be better as a rookie than expected? They may be fire. Ferguson, Watkins and Hunter create the possibility of more explosive plays, imo.. Corum too.

They still can make additions.. but it's a very solid roster.. and, oh.. did I mention? They got an extra first rounder in next year's draft for, basically, a high fourth round pick. Amazing.

I think we're a contender but our secondary is on the weak side among those teams. Might not matter if our offense is great and our defensive front eats opposing QBs though.

Pupped,
So who is this "Smith" you referred to among the WR crew?

~ArkyRamsFan~
Xavier Smith. Our starting punt returner who made a few big plays.

As for this team, they’re confident in their secondary. McVay might say it’s Kendrick, but I can’t wait for a full year of Forbes, Durant in a contract year, and the progression of Wallace, Woods, and Lampkin.

Forbes needs a Reverse Weight Watchers diet. He has to be ready to take down NFL-sized WRs, TEs, and RBs. Scarecrows do not work against the likes of Barkley. For lack of a better expression, 'Where's the beef!?!'

The Leader of the CB’s room is Ahkello Whiterspoon.Mcvay talked about how excited he is to finally get him into OTA’s. He should’ve been resigned last year & in 2023 he was the savior as well.
For some reason I think you’re not a D. Williams fan.Someone around here said to CUT him. He is a good player to have on the squad even if he doesn’t start.

I like D-Will, but his age is a concern.

I’m not a Kendrick fan. At all.

Due to our youth and their inevitable development & natural progress I think we will be better. The front 7 I expect to be markedly better.
Nacua is healthy and OL has a training camp to develop even more chemistry.

Any contributions from the rooks will be a +

Yeah that ridiculous first picture of Emmanuel Forbes wearing that Guardian cap in practice... dude liked like a stick with a pumpkin head, or the Starvin' Marvin character from South Park.

I'm not counting on anything from Forbes, but I guess Les and McVay thought he was worth a roll of the dice.

Kendrick is a head case, no thanks.

Still got some hope for the young no-name guys in Wallace, Woods, Lampkin, and Jolly. Maybe one of those guys can step up.

Regardless, reasonably solid top 3 in Akhello, Durant, and Williams.

Yeah, I think Speights in yr 2 and the addition of Landman will be a huge upgrade over Rozeboom/Reeder and Speights' rookie year performance. Then add in Paul at some point and I expect much better run stopping and playmaking from the LB position.

The DL should be dominant with these guys coming into their own in yrs 2 & 3 for most of them.

DB's should be better...Spoon with a full camp, Williams hopefully healthy, Durant improving... and if they Add Ramsey, he just adds leadership and a knack for making plays. Forbes? Kendrick? Who knows? And the rookie UDFA CBs could step up. At safety Kinchens & McCoulough should improve and Curl & Lake are solid leaders.

Offense should be fine, more explosive with the additions of Adams and Ferguson/Higbee being healthy (fingers crossed). And Nacua is Nacua...just stay healthy. Using Atwell also adds explosiveness that they rarely have used previously. Whittington also adds some YAC explosiveness.

A deep RB room should help... biggest threat to the offense is OL health as we all have learned. Hopefully they can add a vet OT at some point as a 3rd OT. Interior OL depth is not bad, so mostly worried about the outside guys.

Not to go through every step because you pretty much hit on most of it. I think we're an overall better team than the end of last season. But who is Watkins?

Well we don’t know how much Kendrick has improved. He got hurt right around training camp. The rumors were he was going to be the starter.
Now he’s going into his 4th season, but there was a player from the Rams gave him praise for how well he was doing in his rehab

Secondary is definitely my biggest concern. I'm not a fan of at least not adding some young competition at worst. Hopefully there is improvement there from our young players that it kills any of that concern.

I have no idea. lol

That was supposed to be Adams... and my brain had a massive cramp. I guess Sammy Watkins unfulfilled potential was reaching from the grave for attention.

I kind of figured. Maybe because I remember that unfulfilled potential like it was yesterday.

Cheers

We definitely have a better team on paper for the coming year but it all boils down to injuries. We have to come out healthy to hoist that Lombardi.

Despite the secondary, the Rams front seven relieved a lot of pressure on them by crushing opponent's O-lines. But the Rams need to be able to deal with the Iggles and the NFC West. The Iggles might get some resistance from a #1 schedule and a tougher NFC East this season.
