me thinks if I havent read the books I should avoid this thread for spoilers
Sorry tried to be as vague as possible

I think the show is going to mix up the books each season so nothing I have said so far has actually spoiled anything other than naming characters in the show.

I meant when the show is actually on, because right now I have no idea who/what you are talking about

Well a when a couple of us said that Mat wasn't in one middle book and Perrin wasn't in another early book, I felt that was a bit of a spoiler. However, I expect TV to handle that differently.

And yes - because I can see us discussing the show in this thread just like what was discussed in the Game of Thrones thread.

I will try to be as vague as possible when discussing this show.

But as I have stated in another thread, the Wheel of Time books are my favorite Fantasy Series by far over any other series. Not even close. Some Fantasy Series were more fun, but Wheel of Time was just all round better.

However, they are hard books to read at times. Kind of like how Dune is considered one of the better Science Fiction series but is also one of the toughest series to read as well.

Wow...I just looked at the synopsis of a few of the books and it looks time consuming. Like Memento, I may have never read a book that wasn't better, because it offered more detail/nuance in the story and about the characters within it. I used to be a fantasy fanatic but I have trouble getting into them anymore and seem to like history and historical fiction much more these days. Who knows? I felt the same about Game of Thrones and ended up binge watching that thing... Winter is Coming...

Decided to make this a thread of its own just like Game of Thrones had a thread.

This show hopefully will be big.

Following is the trailer.

Wheel of Time Trailer

Comes out November 19 on Amazon Prime

I put it on my watchlist. The trailer has the same texture as GoT with slightly cleaner actors almost as if they just recycled and tweaked the GoT sets.

I hope it is good! I've exhausted all of the decent TV out there. Covid destroyed production schedules. So much stuff is late or seasons skipped...

These books are off the chart in the genre they're so very good. I really hope they do them justice with the show. Lord knows they didn't with Shannara or Sword of Truth shows.

I have high hopes based on what I have heard about the show's producer stating that although there will be differences between the books and the show, that he will try to stay as close to the gist of the books as possible.

Brandon Sanderson when talking about making a movie out of Mistborn stated that it is almost impossible to do anything completely the same as a book in a TV show or movie. The thoughts of the characters cannot be conveyed onto the TV screen so they have to do things a little differently just like Game of Thrones. However, they did a great job keeping to the gist of the Game of Throne stories in the show.

Did you ever read Pillars of Earth?

One of the best Historical Fiction books I have ever read.

It will be interesting next weekend. Friday IIRC starts comic con so we'll likely get a panel of actors/actresses and executives and possibly another trailer as well.

Is that the New York Comic Con?

I only consider the San Diego Comic Con to be the official Comic Con lol

On book 9 now! Can’t wait for the show! Should be an amazing journey!

Sucks that they recasted Matt already, hopefully that’s not too bad of a sign..

Yeah, I read 7 & 8 back to back and it started getting slow. I’m taking a break and reading The First Law trilogy just for a change of pace. I gotta say, the prose is not necessarily better but it’s way more digestible lol

I haven't gotten to the First Law yet. Heard it's a really good series.

And at least it isn't 15 fricken books long lol

IMO - Jordan could have combined 8 9 & 10 into one book and cut out so much of the slog and just included the meat.

Some of Elayne's story is so boring.

I think they will do a complete re-write of Elayne's story in the TV series or at least just present the interesting stuff.

Mild Spoiler warning!!

To be honest I hope they ditch the entire circus act at the least :laugh1: that was soo weird, however that was my favorite book so far so there's that lol
