It has a 1999 feeling to me.

We had most of the pieces and we got Faulk, Timmerman and then Warner stepped up, but remember Trent Green was lighting things up before he was injured (not to diminish what Warner accomplished which was historic).

We have so many pieces and just got what I think is the biggest piece.

We may not upgrade the ILB, but as long as we upgrade C, we're good.
Yeah and we got that We got that guy named Holt lol.

1 of my biggest issues with Goff he couldn't freaking read a line.

On paper I don't see an explanation that would appease everyone (for the trade...). That been said from the vides that has been posted, it appears Stafford trusts the play call more than Goff and lets it fly. Goff has gotten to the point that unless that first option is wide open. And as stupid as it sounds it might of been that little bit of hesitation that was the McVay problem. If Goff doesn't believe in the plays that are called, would be a big problem. And McVay wants someone to run his plays. Now do I know this for fact........no. But I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night.....;)

The success of this trade will not be
Measured in one year. It will be measured over several years because when you give up multiple top draft picks you potentially affect your cap by filling voids with high priced free agents if you want to compete.

If Stafford turns out to be the perfect fit with the system and personell then screw it, you aim for Super Bowl and deal with some down seasons.

For every example of top picks that bust there is an Aaron Donald, Whitworth or Saffold you miss out on.

In fact If Snead knew how to actually draft he might not have to sell the farm for Ramsey’s and Cooks and then the interior line wouldn’t have been so weak and this thread would never had been created.

Some are saying the Rams are on the cutting edge and this will be the new normal for teams around the league. Others see the Rams as a house of cards and with one or two pieces removed (specifically AD,Stafford and Ramsey) the house will come tumbling down for years to come. What seems to be reckless now may become the new normal. Or not. Its gonna be fun to see how it plays out.
Fun may be the wrong word, hell not fun, but it sure would be interesting

This whole trade is really polarizing the fans. Very little middle ground. Much like the move, Bradford etc.. Hopefully the ship rights itself without the loss of any passengers this time.

So thinking about the trade and everything that’s going on

What level of success do the rams need to attain for you to think that this trade was worth it ?

I’m sure there’s many here that hate giving up goff and may who think it’s already a success because JG is no longer a ram

For me anything less than a Super Bowl win and it’s not worth it .. we could have rode out next year on goff and even if it was a poor season we would have draft capital to draft the new QB

I like Stafford as a competitor and a player I don’t necessarily agree he makes us any better he’ll we could 16-0 and not win the super bowl and I still think it’ll be a failure

There's so many "X" factors to get a SB win. Injuries, seedings, and of course regular season Ws. Having SB expectation is a bit far fetched in general.

What I want is continued, sustained winning seasons. If they can keep that, then a SB will eventually come.

For this trade to be successful, the Rams need to have a better offense. That's it.

Just like Goff didn't control wins or losses, neither will Stafford. And I still maintain that our defense will be a bit worse.

For me, success from this trade means a return to the offensive production of 2017-18 during Stafford’s tenure as Ram. I’m not going to go as far as “Super Bowl or bust” because there are too many factors - we all know even the greats like Rodgers, Brees, etc. haven’t gone to the SB in over a decade.

Now, if the Rams win the SB with Stafford the trade will be worth any down years that we suffer because of our lack of 1st round draft picks. It’s sort of like the Toronto Raptors when they traded for Kawhi Leonard, won a championship, only for him to promptly leave in free agency in 1-year. That championship absolutely made the trade worth it for the Raptors regardless of the fact Kawhi was only there for 1 year.

For any team, it’s to win a Championship; with whatever means it takes to accomplish that.

Obviously players hate losing. But fans all over the world can’t handle losing. The expectation of fans for their respective teams is almost always overboard. Then what happens is fans take it personal and start judging everybody on their team from the top down.

So what is the measure of success for sports? In my opinion, it is simply to compete at a somewhat consistent level. Every season has variables that affect the outcome of winning and losing. And then, there are the days and games where you just simply get beat. At the highest level of competition, everyone is good, and everyone gets paid.

The answer is: consistently compete.

I said it initially when the trade happened. McVay and Snead have just pushed all of their chips to the middle with this move. I like the gutsiness, but if you lose you are out. Losing means no Super Bowl win in the next two years...

Shouldn't that be for each and every year?
We’ve been to the playoffs three of the last four years and one SB with four winning seasons. They dont play the game for offensive consistency or better red zone numbers or looking better with a guy in your face. They play it to win the chip. Anything else is losing, we upgraded the one thing that people said was holding us back. Now people are saying less than the SB is acceptable? I don’t get that after all the talk the last few days. Especially when so many said if it gets up the Rams a SB it’s all worth it so why change the goal now?

first i must say that i wanted goff back but only if he went to that qb guru's summer camp and we brought in some competition for him. also i thought that mcvay's play calling had gone to shit. now after the trade we hear that mcvay cut back on his play book to cover for goffs flaws. i'm not going to say it is super bowl or bust but i am looking for mcvay's play calling to get back where it was witch to me means super bowl or bust. opps i just said i wasn't going to say that.

If we are a SB contender for the next 5 years - a really tough out in the playoffs that no one wants any part of - I wont be able to complain.

Obviously, I‘d like a title - and initially, I thought title or bust. But really, having a top tier team and a legit show at the title every year is more than most NFL fans have.

I think this team is stacked.

Lets get all those fans together that believe not winning a SB is acceptable and make them read all of @Loyal posts. That will teach them. :hiding:

For anybody not saying SB or bust McVay disagrees with you.
